    Bathing suit shopping success! (pic)

Thanks so much everyone! Lands End carries two skirts with a higher waist and I saw they have a regular swim bottom with the higher waist. The one I have with the little slit on it is a perfect length for me at 5'4". The other skirted one was a teeny bit longer.

A Target score and a NSV...

First CONGRATS on your NSV and that outfit does look great on you!!!! I only found out about that collection last week while watching a youtube video of someone I subscribe to and she had a few pieces from that collection in it. I fell in love with a tank top and when I went online to ebay to see if they had it I was shocked at how much they were asking for the top. If I knew it would fit the way I like it I would have purchased one, but not knowing how it would fit, there was no way I was spending that kind of money on one top.
  3. I just had to share about my appointment yesterday!! Everything was good, good and good!! Doc was happy with my progress, and all my blood work came back great!! When they told me that my blood work showed NO signs at all of diabetes or being pre diabetic I started to cry. It came out of nowhere, but all I could think is I guess that worrying about getting diabetes bothered me so much more than I thought. My grandpa on my dad's side and my dad both got late on set diabetes so with my weight I just assumed I would get it at some point. It was such a relief to hear that now I will not. We also set up a date to have my ventral hernia removed from my lower right abdomen and I am so happy to be getting rid of that. Herman (as we refer to him in our house) needs to go, he was the reason I started this WLS journey and now with my weight loss so far he shows and is paining me more then ever. Good Riddance Herman!! Now onto my next goal of reaching 175lbs. Doc feels I should have no problem achieving this and so do I!! I attached a pic of me taken at my docs pre op appointment and one my hubby took me of my yesterday!!
  4. LOL I am hoping he weighs at least 5lbs!! Because some days he feels like he does!! LOL This made me laugh. Herman has taken on a life of his own. To bad it's getting cut short very very soon!!!!!

    Hot Shoes

I have never been able to wear heels. So for my 100lb loss gift I picked out a pair of Clarks wedges, soooo comfortable and just the right height for me for everyday wear. They were $107, which I would NEVER spend that much on shoes in the past. But the comfort and style level I love. My daughter and husband are holding them hostage till I hit my 100lb loss. I am so close!!! I also love converse, could never wear them for long before but now I can wear the to work and be on my feet for 8 hours and I am just fine.

    Hair loss

I thought I wouldn't have issues with this since at 4 1/2 months no sign of hair loss. But right at about that time I did start to notice it. I have hair that is a little below my shoulders in length. When I comb it out after a shower I take my hands and run them down my hair and strands come out, not a ton but more than I would like. I see it EVERYWHERE in my bathroom (annoys me more than it actually falling out of my head) You cannot see a difference when you look at me, but I can feel a little difference when I gather my hair for a ponytail. It doesn't really bother me at all, except like I said seeing it and having to clean it up all the time in the bathroom. I have even highlighted my hair regularly like I usually do with no problems. it's not getting any worse so I am thinking it should be stopping sometime soon!
  7. I had WLS to (1.) Be an ACTIVE participant in my life again, I hated always being on the sidelines watching my hubby and daughter having fun, HATED IT!! (2.) I'm not ashamed to say this, I want to shop where ever I want to!!!!! I have set my first goal at losing 100lbs, almost there, (I want my 100lb lost goal shoes my daughter is holding onto for me so bad!!) my next goal is 175lbs. I picked this number because I remember being at about 185-190 the last time I lost a significant amount of weight and I know how good I felt then. And then we will see if 150 feels doable. One goal at a time.
  8. Oh I am sure something will be done for him. My 16 yr old daughter wants to keep him in a jar and bring him home.

YEAH for you for not giving up!! Congrats on the loss!!!!

What was your out of pocket?

I was told my procedure would be 100% covered with a few $35 co pays. I asked and asked every time I talked to my surgeon's office to make sure. I did receive a $250 bill in the mail right before Christmas, I was not to happy about this. But when you look at the big picture I guess it wasn't much to pay at all. Also my first three follow up appointments were covered with no out of pocket co pay.

    Weight loss

I am 6 months post op today (YEAH!!) and I am down 91lbs and counting. I have been losing right along with no gains so far and no real stalls (knock on wood!!) I have gone 5-6 days with no loss, that was my longest run without a loss. I weigh and log everyday still. My surgeon wanted me to do that in the beginning and I have just continued to do so. It is nice to have to look back on.

    Soooo close but....

Thank you Mrs. Sugarbabe!! And I LOVE that.....This is about progression, not perfection!! I am printing that one out so I can see it everyday.
  14. Well I cannot believe it has been 6 months since my surgery. So much has changed. First I just want to say I was hoping to reach a 100lbs lost by this date but I did not. I am oh so close and still I find myself happy with what I have accomplished. I want to share all that has changed for me in the past 6 months. - I am down 91lbs, and have lost a total of 60 inches from my arms, legs, bust waist, buttocks, thighs and calfs!! I have gone from a 30/32 top to a 18/20 or XL sometimes, bottoms were a very tight 28 to a an 18. Those are just my stats here are some NSV's that I am so proud of....... 1.) I am an ACTIVE participant in my life once again, this was the main reason I had this surgery!! 2.) I have more energy than ever, and just can't seem to sleep forever anymore 3.) I can run for short periods on the treadmill, still working on this one 4.) I fit in any and all booths that I have sat in anywhere I go now.....no more fear that I won't fit 5.) I have choices in clothing, choices, choices and more choices!!! 6.) I can wear my necklaces 7.) I can ride my bike 8.) My daughter can get her arms all the way around me for a hug 9.) I feel even more confident than I did before 10.) I can bend, cross my legs, get up off the floor, etc. 11.) When going thru a crowded store or venue and I am following my 16yr old daughter I know can pretty much fit thru spaces she can without trouble, where before I would always have to go around another way. lol 12.) I can buy shoes, all different kinds of shoes and wear them without my feet hurting. I love my converse but they have no support, but I can wear them now, Love it! 13.) I can fit in the airplane seats 14.) I logged between 18,000-22,000 steps daily on vacation to Disneyland in March..... CRAZY!!!! 15.) I have inspired my mom and she is doing great with her weight loss 16.) I have gone from a 30/32 top to a 18/20 or XL sometimes, bottoms were a very tight 28 to a an 18 17.) I can shave and lotion so much easier now 18.) Someone wanted to know if my daughter was my sister or my daughter, I will take that as I look younger now 19.) I love seeing muscles where before I couldn't 20.) I still don't love the gym, but it is part of my life now and I do feel better after I go 21.) I don't find out till tomorrow at my check up but I am pretty sure all my numbers will be better 22.) I can feel and SEE my clavicles, not sure why but I love this 23.) I do not hide or shy away from pictures 24.) I love that my skin has improved too 25.) I CANNOT wait to see what the next 6 months bring me!! I know that I am at a weight where people will begin their journey, but coming from my highest recorded weight of 324 and my starting weight of 314, I am amazed at the changes and what this body can do. It's hard to imagine what it will be able to do once I get to 175 or maybe even lower. I'm sorry this is so long, but I wanted to put down everything so I can print it out and add it to my book, so I can look back at it in another 6 months. I also know from my past experience that posts like this really helped me in the beginning and before my surgery. Me and my hubby are going to Celebrate today with a bike ride. It's a beautiful day here in Tucson and we are going to enjoy it! I have a pair of beautiful Clark wedges just sitting here waiting for me to hit my 100lb loss and then I can wear them!! My daughter is holding them hostage till I do. LOL Tomorrow I have my 6 month check in with my surgeon and I cannot wait to see how all my blood work came back. We will also be discussing getting my ventral hernia (it's on my lower right side of abdomen) removed. Herman has to go. He is protruding now and causing me some pain. Thanks to all who made it this far in reading this long a@@ post, Thanks to all of you who have helped me out along the way wether you realize it or not. This website has been so helpful I can't explain it. You never know when your words might inspire or help so everyone keep posting, keep asking questions, and keep keeping on!!! Here's to the next 6 months of this beautiful life of mine, it's not always easy, it's not always fun, but it's MINE and I am loving every minute of it. I have attached a pic my docs office took me before surgery, the one in the mirror was taken just the other day (I was showing my daughter I was wearing the new shirt I bought) and then a side by side of my face from the day of surgery to a pic from our March vacation. I am sorry if they are sideways, I don't know why they do that.

    Soooo close but....

Hey you never know, you might end up doing it!! I always bring my log book with me to my doc appts because of the difference in his scale and mine. I have my 6 month check up tomorrow and I wanted to have lost 100lbs by then, but this morning I am at 91lbs lost. I was a little bummed I cant say I wasn't, but I am still very excited at how far I have come!! Sometimes we can be hard on ourselves. You have done amazing so far and when that scale reads 199.anything you will feel GREAT!!!!

    They moved my surgery!

Good Luck tomorrow!! Wishing you the best!! My surgery was originally scheduled for Nov 3rd 2014 and then my surgeons office called and changed it to October 27th, a week earlier. YIKES! It was a shock at first and I had to rearrange everything including my mom's flight to come stay with me. Thank God my work and my husbands work was able to change our time off. Everything ended up being ok. And now tomorrow will be my 6 month surgiversary!!! Time flies!!

    Shoe size

Yep......my foot changed. Depending on the shoe I have been buying between an 8 to an 8.5 from a 9. What I really love is that my foot isn't as wide as it used to be!!
  19. I will be 6 months out next week. My 16yr old daughter and I were at a friends daughters little play at her school the other night. By the way it was sooooo cute. Anyway my friends mom was there also and had brought her aunt with her. We were leaving the play and my friends mom said to me "My aunt wants to know if that is your sister or your daughter??" I just laughed and said "Thank you, I love you, and you might need to have your eyes checked!!" LOL My daughter immediately said "don't let that go to your head!" (she has been hearing how much we look alike since she was born.) It really made me smile. Now I know at almost 47yrs old we truly don't look like sisters, but compliments like that I could take all day long!!! Now I keep calling my daughter Sis, and as you can imagine I find this way more amusing then she does. LOL I posted an updated pic of the two of us from the night we went out to dinner a couple weeks ago for her 16th birthday!! I love this picture of us!
  20. I will be 6 months out next week, I can eat a little bit more also now. Not a lot but it is more depending what the food is. I weigh, measure and log everything still. Just my way of life now. I do have to be careful cause I have not found anything so far that I have tried that does not agree with me. I stay away from sweets as much as possible, with maybe a bite here and bite there. The one thing I like that I have noticed these last few months is I can tell when I am full sooner than later. In the early months I would get the full feeling between my breasts and sometimes it would hurt, now I can feel the fullness in my stomach and stop. For me it's pretty easy only because I am a baby and hate being uncomfortable.
  21. I will be 6 months out next week and I still use them occasionally. I don't rely on them but the do come in handy sometimes. Usually at lunch time, whether I am working our out running errands. I would much rather drink one of my premiere Protein shakes then stop for fast food or something. I try very hard to plan ahead as much as possible. I really don't see anything wrong with incorporating them into your meal plan, I just wouldn't rely entirely on them.

    Traveling at 6wks out.

I was headed back to work at 6 weeks, would have much rather been going on vacation!! I was feeling great at that point. I actually could have gone back sooner but I liked having the extra time off to adjust to my life and everything. The fact that you are driving only a couple of hours and staying in house, you will do great. Just be prepared with all the stuff you will need and ENJOY your vacation!! Keep moving while you are there, it really makes you feel better. Good Luck with your journey!!
