  1. Well tomorrow is the day that my journey will start. I am beginning my pre op diet with my surgery scheduled for Oct 27th. Originally scheduled for Nov 3rd but the doc had to move a bunch of us around and I was one of the ones that got moved. YIKES!! I started this whole thing back in Jan 2014 with a trip to my general surgeons office to see about getting my ventral hernia taken care of. After talking with her in great length she suggested the vertical sleeve for me. She said since I seem to be able to loose the weight but not keep it off for long periods of time that this might be an option for me. She wanted some of my weight off before she operates on the ventral hernia, it seems to have a very hard and long recovery time. So when I got the info from my bariatric doc that my insurance required a 6 month doctor supervised diet I was almost relieved to have time to wrap my head around everything. It seemed to be happening so fast. So now after all my research and homework I think I am prepared as I ever can be for something like this. Once all my pre req's were done my doc submitted to my insurance and I was approved in 5 days. I was totally and completely surprised it went that fast. So tomorrow I start the journey into my new life. I thank God that I have the support of my husband, daughter and parents. I have some great friends in my corner too and these boards have been a God send also. So thanks to all who have helped me with your posts, you just never know how or who you may be helping when you post so keep it up!! I hope someday to be able to help someone too!!
  2. Believe me the time will be here for surgery before you know it. I was not one that sought out this surgery or wanted it really bad. It was suggested for me by my general surgeon when I was in for a consult for my ventral hernia. I started this whole process in Jan of this year and when my insurance said 6 month diet I was actually relieved. I needed that time to wrap my head around all that was happening. To really figure out how my life would change, how I would be eating and what was required to succeed at this. I have concluded that this is gonna be a long and hard journey but with the support team I have and all the knowledge I have acquired in the last 10 months I think I am as prepared as I can be. Good luck to you on your journey!!!!

    Everything is happening so fast!

Congrats on your surgery date!!! My surgery was originally scheduled for Nov 3rd and then moved to Oct 27th. YIKES!I! I am starting my pre op diet tomorrow. I also cannot believe how fast things are moving. Once they submitted my paperwork I heard back in 5 days. I am just so looking forward to the new year cause I am hoping to be past most of the tough times by then. Good luck again!!
  5. We were looking at the Nutri bullet and the Ninja. We ended up going with the Ninja. So far we all love it, especially my daughter. LOL

    Date change

Good Luck tomorrow!! My date also got changed from Nov 3rd to Oct 27th. They wanted to put me on Oct 20th but I was already scheduled to work that week.
  7. I received my samples from unjury and after trying them and trying the premiere Protein RTD I like the UNJURY so much better. The premiere ones I could tolerate I thought but once I tried the vanilla and chocolate splendor from the UNJURY I found those much better. Not so sweet and I have a VERY hard time with artificial sugars and I had no after taste or headache from drinking the UNJURY. We also invested in a Ninja blender with two individual cups for blending and mixing. LOVE IT. My daughter is also having blast with mixing up different smoothies in it. I am pretty sure it will get a lot of use.
  8. I received my two samples and mixed one pouch into my unsweetened decaf iced tea and with every sip I tried to see if there was a difference but really could not tell. My surgery is October 27th and any Protein with any kind of artificial sweeteners in it upsets my tummy and gives me a headache. I have never been able to drink anything with artificial sugars in them. My husband and daughter LOVE all those flavored Water drops and I cannot stomach them. I had no reaction after drinking my tea with the GENEPRO in it. Whew!! I am hoping this will help me out once I am past my liquid phase of my post op diet. I am going to choke down the premiere protein RTD this week before surgery for my pre op diet, but probably won't use them afterwards.
  9. I will be starting my pre op diet on Monday the 20th with my surgery scheduled for October 27th. I cannot stand anything with artificial sugar in it. It all has a terrible aftertaste to me and I will get a headache and yucky feeling in my stomach afterwards. I have been trying different ones since knowing I would be having this surgery. I am hoping to be able to get thru all the pre op and post op without the sugar free drinks or drops. I can do sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello and puddings. I love regular Water and am hoping that will continue after surgery. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has this issue too??

    Genepro protein powder

I have ordered two samples from their website to try, http://www.musclegen.net/#!contact/ce84 for $2.84 including shipping. I have been trying Protein drinks but not having much luck with any of them. The samples came really quickly, can't wait to try them!!
  12. My surgery was originally scheduled for Nov 3rd, my doc office called on this past Tuesday to reschedule. My surgery is now set for October 27th. YIKES!! My mom had to reschedule her flights in to be with me, my husband had to get his time off rescheduled and I had to make sure my work schedule was good to go. Now that that is all set I think I can handle this change. =)
  13. I love all the information in this thread so far. I have a real problem with fake sugars, and most protein drinks. I am hoping to find an unflavored one that will work for me so keep your suggestions coming. I am waiting now for my sample pack from UNJURY to come in. Does anyone have any information on the MuscleGen Protein powder. Seems almost to good to be true, with 30g of unflavored protein in a 1 TBSP.
  14. I have Aetna and was got my approval about 2 weeks after they submitted. Mind you I had to do a 6 month doctor monitored weight loss program, which I started in February. And then in May I received a letter saying that the hospital my surgery would be at was longer under contract with Aetna. Boy was I bummed, actually more bummed than I thought I would be. But then at the end of July they reinstated the contract with the hospital. So I called the doctor back and started back up from where I had left off. I just had to do the psych eval and then the submitted. I really thought I would be denied at first, and was so surprised when they called me this past Monday to tell me I was approved. My surgery is scheduled for November 3, 2014. I am gonna to tell you what my husband keeps telling me.....if you think negative thoughts negative things will happen. I am a big "what if...." person. It's hard but I am trying to be more positive. Hang in there worrying over things you can't control will drive you nuts!! Good Luck!!!
