  1. I had my check in with my doc yesterday. At my two week check in my doc gave me a sheet with goals that he would like me to meet and a timeline. By this appointment he wanted me at 260. Yesterday at home I weighed in at 262. I was happy with that and thought it was pretty close. Now when I weighed in at the docs they had me at 265, but I was fully clothed. This morning when I got on the scale at home I was 260. I was so happy. Other than my weight my appointment went great. My appointment was with the NP Debbie, and I love her. She is great, she listens, she engages and I feel like when I am there I am not being rushed and my time is mine. She looked at my logs that I brought (I like to keep things in order) I have my food log and my weight log. She was pretty impressed with all my info. She said I am doing really good and to keep doing what I am doing. She did go over with me that I will get to a point where I will have times the weight won't be coming off and wanted to make sure I was tracking other than just the scale. I told her I was taking my measurements monthly, taking monthly pics and trying on clothes periodically to see how my body is changing. Overall I felt great when I walked out of my appointment Now onto the next two months!!
  2. I'm not sure about this as I am 9 1/2 weeks post op and have been losing consistently since surgery. I am interested in everyone's answers.
  3. Glad to hear that you are doing better. I had to do a 6 month doc supervised diet for one of my requirements. I was actually happy about that because I needed that time to make sure I would be able to handle all the changes that would come with having this surgery. I needed to wrap my head around all that. I started in Feb 2014 and at my May check in I had received a letter from my insurance stating that the contract with the hospital where I would be having my surgery. I was bummed. But I kept going thru my appointments because my doc thought it would get settled and we would be back on track. At that point my weigh ins were horrible. I gained or stayed the same. But my insurance didn't have a requirement for me to lose a certain amount. But I was a little worried. It took two months but they redid the contracts and we were good to go. Once I finished everything they submitted and I was approved in less than two weeks. Keep up the good work and the good habits you are making, you will need that after the surgery!!!!
  4. I drank the RTD Premiere protein shakes before surgery and still to this day. Before surgery and the first couple of weeks I was cutting them with 4oz of skim milk. They just seemed to thick for me. But now I have one practically everyday for lunch and drink them all by themselves with no problem. I am 9 weeks post op. Good luck with your upcoming surgery!!!

    clothes

I have gone thru my closets and drawers and got rid of everything that was to big. I still have stuff to shrink down into in my closets. And I have bought me some new stuff too. My body is changing and I want to feel good in what I am wearing. I have kept a pair of my biggest capris I was wearing right up until surgery. I am so hoping to one day take a pic in them where I am standing in one leg only. I know not all can afford to buy new stuff as we shrink so quickly but I am a firm believer in you look and feel so much better in clothes that fit.
  6. I was what I guess you would call "normal" sized back in highschool. Not super skinny but average. What really gets me is when my 15yr old daughter said to me, "mom I really never knew you any other way, I can't wait to see you shrink!" When she was 2 yrs old I had lost 85lbs and had gotten down to around 190. I felt good and healthy at that weight, but then life and stressors happened and before I knew it in less than two years most of the weight I lost was back on. This time I am determined to be successful!!
  7. I was super worried about eating out. I am OCD about knowing exactly what is going into my body so I an log it. So far I have been able to eat a 4pc grilled chicken nugget at Chik Fila, We went to a restaurant here called Mimi's and my mom ordered the pot roast because that is what I wanted to eat. I had about 3oz of the meat. it was so tender and so YUMMY!! When my mom is here she likes to get Mexican food, I am in AZ, so we went the one night I just ordered the carne asada and ate some of that dipped in the salsa. And my all time favorite before and now after surgery is Cracker Barrel for my grilled chicken tenderloins. Love Them. I get a 4pc eat two at the restaurant and bring two home for the next day. You really can make it work almost anywhere with a little planning. Good luck and try to just enjoy yourself and not worry about what other people might think. I know the waitresses have looked at me weird a few times when I don't order anything to drink, but oh well I don't care! lol
  8. Seriously??? I so dislike reading stuff like this. I am so sorry you have gotten negative comments. That has to stink. Grrrrrr makes me so angry. It really is no ones business but yours!! I hope those negative comments don't deter you from getting healthy and doing well with your weight loss!! Good Luck and I wish you great success!!
  9. Me and my hubby were just talking about this today. Before I had my surgery I was sooooo worried about what people would think or say that I told very few people at work, mostly just the few in my immediate department since I would be gone for 5 weeks. My fist few days back I was super nervous about people asking me questions about where I had been and such. I only work part time so some just thought I wasn't working a lot of hours or were just working on opposite days than me. By my second week back people started to notice and ask where I was. I found it fairly easy to tell people what I had done. Way easier than I thought. I consider myself extremely lucky, I have a great support system here at home, my parents have been wonderful and my friends and co workers are genuinely concerned about me and want me to do well. Every person who I have told has been nothing but supportive and encouraging. It's funny how many people know someone who has had weight loss surgery, and those that don't really have legit questions and I am happy to have them understand what it is I am going thru. I had this surgery for ME, no one else. And it may sound funny but having people know what's going on has helped me be more accountable. You must do what is most comfortable for you, but NEVER let anyone make you feel like you did something wrong, because in the long run you will see that this is the best thing you could have done for yourself!!!!!

    LIver Shrinking Diet

I was on a similar diet but only for one week. I used the unjury vanilla and chocolate splendor, I added PB2 to the chocolate one (yum!) and I used Premiere Protein vanilla and chocolate cut with 4oz of skim milk. Pre op they seemed to thick and sweet and even a few weeks post op I was cutting them with skim milk. Now I can drink them no problem with nothing added. I had marinated some chicken breasts in light Italian dressing and grilled them up and then cut them into 3oz servings to have for my dinner with a salad. I could also have a piece of fruit if I wanted so some nights when I was hungry I had an apple. So my pre op diet was not bad at all. I lost 9lbs so I was happy!! Good luck on your journey!!!
  11. That is awesome and I hear your excitement in your post!!!!! My surgery was on 10/27 and I have been exited about the same things!! My first pair of skinny jeans in a size 20 (I was wearing a 28) and I got a pair of knee high boots too!! I keep telling myself I feel so good already about myself how will I feel in 4 more months?? Do you feel this way too??

  13. Just wanted to let anyone know pre op or post op that costco has $5 off their cases of Premiere Protein from 12/30-1/25. There is a two case limit, but you can always go a few times. I know me and my hubby are gong to get some, I use these for lunch almost everyday!!!

    WLS and marriage...

It's funny that when I started this journey back in Feb of this year, I wasn't sure if I could make the changes necessary to succeed. My husband and daughter have attended every meeting and doctor appointment they could because they wanted to understand what I was going to have to do. I had to do a 6 month doc supervised diet, required by my insurance and let me tell you it was the best thing for me. I needed that time to wrap my head around how things would change and figure out why I was eating the way I was. I am 9 weeks post op as of today and my husband and daughter have been very supportive. I haven't removed all so called bad food from the house but it has been cut down and surprisingly they don't miss it. It's been somewhat easy on me because I haven't had any issues with being around people eating food that I cannot have. Grant it there are times that smells do get the better of me, but I haven't been tempted to put that food in my mouth. I am trying to get the most bang for my buck out of the sleeve during the first 6 months. LOL They both have been going to the gym with me and working out with me, that is soooo helpful especially on days where I am like no I don't feel like it. They have even been drinking shakes for Breakfast or lunch too. Neither one of them have a weight problem but it never hurts to try to be more healthy. I really think you need to talk to your husband about this, really talk. He needs to understand completely what you will be going thru. My daughter was a little scared at first but once she went to the meetings and pre op stuff it eased her mind. The more informed you both are the better it will be. For me things are probably better now, because I am happier, I feel better and that translates into all aspects of your life. I started at 314lbs, so I am right there with you weigh wise. it's not easy but it is what you make it. The sleeve is a great tool but you have to use it properly to have it work for you ! Good luck in what ever you decide, but seriously talk with your hubby try to get him to understand the changes that are going to happen for you.

Why don't more people use Genepro?

I have been using since after surgery. I use it every morning. I put a scoop in my 32oz of decaf tea for my Breakfast. I get in my Protein and my liquid at the same time. I feel great, have energy and have been losing consistently since surgery, My doc has me doing two shakes and one small meal. I do my protein tea in the morning, a RTD premiere Protein shake for lunch and the I eat my protein for dinner with my family. My doc also has me doing no Snacks and so far I'm not hungry between meals (maybe cause I am drinking my water). It mixes so nicely into everything. I love it!!!!

    Premier Protein Shakes.........

I would go buy two more cases during the sale and return them with your original receipt. They will be unopened and costco takes back everything. $10 bucks is $10 bucks!! LOL
  18. I take Bariatric Advantage, but not the chewable I use the gel caps. They are rather large but I can swallow them and have been able to since two weeks out. I did find thru trial and error that I have to take them after Breakfast and after lunch. I was at first taking them after breakfast and dinner but I found I was waking up at night "tasting" the Vitamin. Yuck!! But now that I take them after breakfast and lunch no problems at night.

    DISNEY WORLD!

That is absolutely wonderful to hear. I can only imagine how you feel, even though I think I can tell just from reading your post. We went to Universal Studios in FL two years ago and I only went on three rides I think it was. I know how you felt last year first hand. We are heading to Disney in March I will be 4 1/2 months post op and I cannot wait to go. I told my husband and daughter this time I can choose what rides I want to go on instead of just the ones I fit in. Congratulations again and enjoy the rest of your trip!!!! WOO HOO!!!
  20. Good Luck tomorrow!! It's hard not to be nervous, But you will do great!! All I took with me was my phone and some real good lip balm. That's it!! I really needed the lip balm and was so thankful I had it. I used an extra gown to throw over my shoulders like a robe when I did my walking, which I very soon after being in my room and every couple hours after that. Grant it the first few times I didn't go to far but by the third time I was all the way around the floor. I also didn't need slippers or anything because the hospital puts on slipper socks, green, yellow or red depending on how you are allowed to get out of bed. I had green so I was good to go, and they have non slip on the bottom. I am a big baby on pain so I was hitting my pain button every time it turned green. I really don't remember any pain, but just a little discomfort getting up and down out of bed. I slept on my side on that first night too. Hubby said it was because I was so drugged up. LOL I came home by dinner time the next day and never touched any of my pain meds at home. I couldn't believe it, cause when I say I am a baby I MEAN I am a BABY!! LOL Oh the other thing I took was my stomach stuffie my daughter and hubby had got for me before surgery. It was a nice comfort and a great conversation piece every time someone came in my room to check on me. Let us know how it goes when you are able to!! Good luck on your journey!! Here's to a new you !!!

    Constipation

I had no problems after surgery, took four days and things starting moving again. Then around the month mark OMG I don't know what happened but things stopped. I had a horrible three days, but when I called my docs office they said I could use Miralax. I put a capful in my tea every night and I have had no problems since. I probably don't need it every night but I still put it in there every night. I am so scared of that happening again. It was awful. I go back to my docs this Tuesday and will see what they say to do then. I hope you find something that works for you!!

    Forever and Always

Congratulations on your decision! To bad your insurance won't cover it, but I am sure it will be the best money you ever spent!! March will be here before you know it!!!
  24. I'm almost 9 weeks post op and right now the toughest things for me would be remembering my second round of Vitamins and chews. I have no problem taking any of my stuff, it's remembering to do so. I have set a timer for 2pm daily so we will see if that helps. I can't take my Vitamin to late cause then I find I taste it in the middle of the night. I had no problem getting in all my liquids, but since our weather has gotten cold here in AZ drinking plain Water is just not cutting it. I have been drinking more hot decaf tea though to get it and it all seems good.
