  1. I was weighed the day of surgery. The weight I use as my starting weight is the weight I weighed in at the docs before I started my pre op diet. That was one week before surgery. That is the weight my docs office uses too.
  2. Are you weighing the same time of day on the same scale in the same clothes? There is so much that could affect your weight, just like the above posters said too. Take a break from the scale for awhile and just work your program. Believe me I know it is hard to not jump on there everyday to see how you are doing but don't do it if it makes you crazy. Someone once said to me "You have to trust the process." I know that is sometimes easier said than done, but try! Good luck, you can do this!!!!

Well I have now hit my target weight

Good Job with your weight loss so far. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get a surgery date soon!!
  4. My doctor has kept me on two shakes a day and one small Protein filled meal. When I first heard this at my second check up I was surprised, and a little bummed. But actually it has really worked well for me. I usually keep my meal for dinnertime to eat with the family. It has been going really well for me. It does sound like your tummy may not be ready for certain solids yet. Try to keep with mushies still for awhile. Do you have a Protein shake you like?? Good luck with this, give your tummy some more time and you will get there!!

    Protein bars!

YUM........I couldn't decide what to do for dinner for tonite so I just had a Quest bar, strawberry cheesecake!! This one is now my favorite so far. Just had to come back and share!!!

    Protein

I use it in my morning g decaf tea everyday. I brew decaf tea, dump my scoop of GENEPRO into my giant insulated cup, pour a little tea into it, mix it well with a spoon, then I add the rest of my 32oz of decaf tea, my splenda and 2tbsp of fat free creamer and drink! I kill two birds this way....32oz of my liquid for the day and 31g of protein!! I have been losing every week since my surgery. I feel great and have more energy than ever!! I hope you find something that works for you! !

    Protein bars!

I have been trying out some of the Quest bars, some are good, some are just ok. But with anything you don't know until you try them. The one I was most disappointed with was the lemon one. I love lemon stuff and it just had barely any taste let alone lemon. I did like the chocolate chip one and one of the double chocolate or chocolate fudge I can't remember exactly the name. I found a brand called thinkthin High Protein bar at Whole Foods. The one I had the other day was called Brownie Crunch and it was delish. Now they are higher in calories than the Quest bars, This one had 230 calories, 20g protein, 0g sugar. I ate it for lunch after I had gotten home from the gym so the extra calories were no big deal for me. They are available on Amazon and I heard possibly Target. So far the two I have tried from this brand have been yummy. I am definitely keeping some of these on hand!!

    Protein

I also use Genepro regularly. I have not had any trouble mixing it into stuff either. Not sure where you paid $50 bucks for it I believe on Amazon.com I only paid $35ish with my prime two day free shipping. This has helped me so much I would be lost without it!!
  10. Congratulations that is GReeeaaaattt!! I cannot wait to be able to post this!! Keep up the good work and before you know it you will be posting GOAL!!!!

    Super Supportive Parents

This post makes me smile!!! I have a ton of support and feel so blessed. I am glad your parents are on board and supporting you in this journey!! You will definitely need it, sometimes more than others. My mom was so excited for me but I could tell she was what I thought was nervous? Turned out once I really explained things to her, information was just what she needed. Now she is so supportive that when we went out to eat last time she was here (she is losing weight also, using myfitnesspal) she ordered something off the menu she normally would never just so I could have my 3oz of Protein. Love her!!! Keep us posted on your journey!! Good Luck!!

    One Chicken Taco

LOL I have the same problem with drinks. We were out the other day and I even had the manager come by and ask why it was my server didn't bring me a drink. haha. My husband said you should just ask for a Water and leave it, but I hate to waste. One of my favorite eats out is Cracker Barrel. I get 4 grilled chicken tenderloins (these were a favorite of mine before surgery too) and I can only eat two very slowly, and then take the other two home. Both times now I can see the waitress/waiter with a weird look on their face. LOL I don't care!!
  16. I will be 11 weeks post op tomorrow. My docs plan has me on two shakes and one meal per day, no snacking. So far it's been going really well and I am not missing my Snacks. But am interested for future reference on responses to this post......bring them on!!!

    Non existent support

I consider myself very lucky with the support and encouragement I have with my husband and daughter, my friends and co workers. My 15yr old daughter was like "aw mom I feel bad eating in front of you!" in the beginning. She is so sweet. I told her and my husband that I cannot expect them to eat like me or to never have things that I cannot or should not be eating. But that being said if something they brought into the house bothered me so much they would remove it, or eat it and not do it again. I knew going into this that I would be around food and have to be around food. Now that I am almost 11 weeks out I do find when I smell something really good I get that Mmmm that would be good. But I don't have the hunger that I did so it is easier for me to not eat it. Me and my hubby were at Whole Foods the other day checking it out to see if they had some cool and different stuff for me to try. We got chicken Florentine hamburgers, some other kinds of greek yogurt, some chocolate covered animal crackers on clearance, some new Protein bars to try and some vanilla mini cupcakes. A little bit for everyone. If you think he is purposely trying to bring food into the home to sabotage your efforts that sucks. With this journey and all its up and downs we need support, and support from those closest helps the most. Have you tried talking to him openly and honest about things?? When he brought that stuff into the house did even bring home what you asked for?? If not then there is a real problem. I wish I could help you out more, I had posted about how sad it makes me when I see posts where people do not have the support they need. Try to stay strong and remember why you did this in the first place!! Good Luck!!
  18. I can't do artificial sweetners either but I have found that I can drink Premiere Protein RTD shakes with no problem, no aftertaste and no headaches. Not sure what kind of sweetener is in them. I would have to go take a look. The back says sucralose?? I am just glad the don't bother me cause it is mostly what I use for lunches. I also use GENEPRO (an unflavored protein powder) in my decaf tea in the mornings. I use Splenda in my tea and again no problems. I can't use any of the Water enhancers or sugar free syrups because I cannot take the aftertaste and the headaches I get. You will get a lot of great answers on here, that's one thing I love about this site!! Good Luck!!

    Hair loss!

I will be 11 weeks out on Monday and I am keeping an eye on my hair everyday. I have not noticed any extra loss either in the shower or styling it. But I am 1 week and 1/2 from the 12 week mark so I am watching. I have an apt on Saturday to highlight and cover my lovely grays so I am hoping that doesn't bother it. I am knocking on wood that what I lose will only be noticeable to me and not everyone else. But the way I feel already with my 57lbs lost I will deal with hair loss if it comes my way. Especially since most is temporary!!
  20. At my heaviest my bras were 48DD and they were tight around me. I am only almost 11 weeks out and just bought a 42D. I really need to get fitted but I am waiting a few more months (if I can) to do that. My weight is dropping pretty regularly still so once it slows down a bit I will. I do have to say my new bra is rather pretty and uplifting.

    Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!

I have never been a fan of yogurt period. And it sucks now cause the greek yogurt has so much Protein but no matter what brand I buy it's a no go. My husband and daughter LOVE yogurt, I just have never been a fan. In fact just the other day I tried another brand, and was like nope. I figure I can eat only such little amounts that I am going to eat food I enjoy. I am almost 11 weeks out and I think I have done pretty good so far without the yogurt. Grant it it would be nice because of the smooth consistency and high protein, but I just can't. Good Luck with your yogurt, I hope you find something that works, there are a lot of great suggestions on this thread already!!

  23. CheleLynn45

    Well I did it today!

@athena3127 good for you for taking the step for exercise!! Careful I find when I am going regularly I crave it more!! LOL I'm just back to the gym this week since not going for two weeks and I can feel it in my shins, but I ended up doing more miles in less time so I was happy.
