I had my surgery done at barkers and had a good experience. My surgery was done by Dr. Hodges and she was great. Sorry about your experience, rosemary..i saw you are self pay...Barker himself exclusively handles self pays on his own nowadays from what i heard.

One of the local nutrition shops sell it here and i will be buying it..he charges 40 but i had a coupon and got it for 30...i asked the nutritionist if it was ok to use since they said not to consume Iron and Calcium at the same time, and she said it was fine to use, but when bloodwork is done in a few months if there is a deficiency in cal ium or iron i would need to take a separate Vitamin for it.

I never really changed my mind per se, but it is definitely an emotional journey.. as someone who has been overweight their whole life it is very emotionally difficult to transition from eating everything practically to being so restricted.. i just had ds surgery 6 days ago and i am still experiencing head hunger..i know what i did is for the best and the eventual results hopefully will support that but the first several days are challenging.

I just had the ds done 5 days ago..it was recommended by my surgeon when i went for my first consultation..my bmi was 68...she said they recommended the ds for bmis of 50 or higher...after doing research on it, i decided that would be best for me.

My BMI is 49
Them there shouldnt be an issue..i have aetna and they required 3 months of weighins...a nutritionist appt, and also by the time of your weigh in you can't weigh more than your first consultation weight..they also want your documented weight for the last 2 years.. i only had it for 1 and they sent a picture for the other but it was still approved. Ive read the whole entire thread of this and it seemed several people were having problems with the documentation, but at my surgeons office they said thats more of an issue with people who barely qualify..so usually people who had bmis hovering around 40 or so

Congrats on your weight loss so far! We have about the same stats.. my all time highest weight in december was 372..as of my last weigh in i was 336, although im convinced i have gained a few of those lbs back over the past couple of weeks. I wouldn't worry too much about what your coworker says. Most people are ignorant about weight loss. I'm pretty sure most people here have went through several yo yo diets, losing a good amount of weight only to gain it back plus more. I know tons about losing weight but just couldn't keep it off, which resulted in deciding to get surgery.

My insurance required 2 yrs of documented history and i only had one. The coordinator at the surgeons office had me send over a pic from the other year and the insurance company approved me. The coordinator said some insurance companies required weight history just to make sure people weren't purposely gaining weight to qualify for surgery.

Hello Everyone! I was just approved for surgery, and it is scheduled for May 7th..im actually having the duodenal switch, but that forum is so dead. I've been able to find a wealth of information on this forum.

I am working with them as well..i was just there for an egd yesterday, and my last appt is tomorrow. Then they can submit everything to my insurance company and hopefully i will have a date late this month or early May.

Hi mrsfitn2014! Im in Dallas also. Im still fulfilling my insurance requirements but i just have 1 week left until they submit everything to the insurance company. Which dr are you using?

I think it just depends on who you work with.. I told my boss and she was very supportive, as were the co workers I told. If someone has something negative to say about it I don't really care anyway. Its my health at stake not theirs.

I don't think its bad but personally I don't care for the taste of it.
