    Sizes

Yep I do think it depends on your body type. I have been obese for most of my life, but my weight has been pretty well distrubted all over my body. I am currently 169 and a size 8-10 and I am 5'6". I started out at 297 and a tight size 24. Congrats on your weight loss, new sizes are fun.

    No complications?

I got banded back in August, 2005, I've lost almost 130lbs and had zero "real" complications. I did have 2 incisions under my boobs that got irritated because they rubed together because of my obesity. Other than that I have been great. Hubby was also banded by the same doctor and has had zero problems. The key is to find the surgeon that is right for you. Once you have surgery you are in a way "married" to the doctor and this person needs to be supportive and have the expertise to make you surgery a success. Best of luck to you!

    Being "normal"

Is there certain foods that make me sick?? Yes! With that being said I know what I can get away with and not feel ill. Not to sound crude, but you cut off your right arm you learn to adapt. If done correctly (placement and fills) you will not be sick all the time. Will you do something you regret as far as eating something you shouldn't probably, who doesn't? but after losing almost 130lbs I am happy with my weight loss and energy level.

    Crying a lot today

Interesting. All you did was ask for an appetite suppressant and he wanted to "fire you" as a patient? I work in a different speciality and we have very specific rules on medication and have the patient fill out a contract saying they have to be seen to get medication (we work with a lot of pain control issues) but we have never fired a pt simply for asking about a medication, the answer may still be no, but it's not something we would threaten them over. Best of luck to you.

I kind of don't believe it....

    Welcome to bandland!
  7. I used the Isopure and it has 8 oz servings per 2 scoops. You can always 1/2 the serving and drink as you can until you work upto what your supposed to drink. Isopure has 50 grams of Protein and 300 calories plus it tastes like chocolate milk. Best of luck to ya!

    Fluctuating weight?

Personally I weigh myself every morning nekid after going potty (pee). I find that my weight usually goes up in the evenings (1-2lbs). Best of luck!

    Lexapro for reflux control?

Never heard of this. I would not recommend Lexapro personally even for depression or anxiety. I was on it and had to keep increasing the dose to get any effectiveness. Best of luck to ya!

    Newby with questions

My daughter was 10 months old when I had my surgery. My advice is to just tell the important people. Everyone else can think you are just on a wonderful diet. :couch2: Welcome to the board!

    Frustrated

Congrats on you surgery. You are in the healing phase. Don't get discouraged. Concentrate on healing, most people don't lose a lot (if any) weight during the first 6 weeks/pre fill phase. WLS is not a quick fix, please be patient and walk away from the scale (easier said than done I know). Also don't be surprised if you are a little down during these phase, when you decrease calories rapidly many times that can bring on a depressed state. Best of luck to ya!

    The "WAITING GAME" is ON!

From personal experience Lap Band Solutions sucks. They NEVER did submit my info and my surgeon ended up going with someone else because they were so bad. When my paperwork got submitted to my insurance I got approval the same day, LBS sat on my paperwork from April until the end of September w/o doing a darn thing!! Stay on top of them.

    Gads, I sooo screwed up!

WLS is a very personal decision. Do what is right for you, please don't let anyone push you into something, this is a LIFETIME committment. Best of luck to ya!

    Curves?

Curves is very supportive if you find the right one. Be careful with your back though. Some of the machines are not very good for those of us who suffer from back pain.

    Hello Texas Group

Welcome! Congrats on coverage. I've heard great things about Dr. Rod, I originally wanted him to do my sx but he didn't accept my insurance. My husband and I were both banded by Dr. Powell. I'm not sure if they he (Dr. Rod) still uses them, but Lap Band Solutions sucks. They are the ones that submit insurance for approval. Stay on them, they sat on my file for over a month, it took less than 24 hours after being submited before I was approved. The customer service of LBS is horrible and I would not personally deal with them again. Best of luck to you! If things don't work with Dr. Rod, I would highly recommend Dr. Powell.
  18. Sorry to hear you guys are having such a hard time. I hope things get better for you both soon.

    Question About Bowel Prep!!!

Wow sorry you have to go through this. Hubby and I didn't have a bowel prep. Best of luck with your surgery.

    Coke drinking poll

I do still drink fountain cokes, I can't handle bottled drinks or canned sodas. I typically drink 1 a day and it takes me all day to drink it. My doctor told me no carbs, I love the bubbles, I can't chug it, but who cares.

    HELP again!

I know that the phenergan is usually pretty cheap and effective. The vomiting is NOT normal, you really need to be seen. The office visit should be covered within your global period after surgery. Please keep us posted.

    Discouraged Bandster need YOUR help!!

Hi, Sorry you are having a rough time. I also get my fills at SCOR and I know they have an after care program. Call up there and ask about it. I was not banded at SCOR, but my hubby was and they have offered it to both of us. I know it has a dietician and exercise pros from what they told me. Best of luck to ya!
  23. Congrats and much success to ya!

I too have been told not to drink from straws, I've also been told no carbonation... but that's another thread.
