    Port Replacement

Has anyone had to have their port replaced after losing a lot of weight. I feel like my port is getting caught on my rib and it's very uncomfortable almost painful. I called my doctor's office on Wednesday and have yet to hear from them. I'll call back on Monday. Just curious if it could be done under local instead of knocking me out. Thanks!

    Port Replacement

I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. I honestly don't know why I have lost so much weight. I have not followed many of the rules. I think the biggest thing is the fact I work a lot and have a 2 year old to keep up with. I rarely sit still. I keep up with 4 surgeons and almost run daily at work. I've had 4 adjustments and one slight unfill. Typically for Breakfast I eat a small bowl of Cereal, if I don't have time for that I at least try to get my Protein shake in. lunch I usually either have whatever the drug reps give us or a tv dinner. If I am lucky I get grilled chicken or some other type of food that is band friendly. I have been known to go down to the cafeteria and get a chicken fried steak on occasion, but I give about 3/4 of the food away so I don't try to eat too much. My co-workers love free lunches. LOL Dinner I usually split with my 2 year old, I take a bite, she takes a bite. Whatever Mom is eating tastes better. It really helps me by slowing me down to keep her fed and happy. My favorite dinner is the cheesy chicken from TGIFridays. Like I said I seriously don't know why I have lost so much. I still get an occasional fountain soda and still eat ice cream when the urge hits, just not as much. Did you diet a lot prior to surgery? I know that many hard core dieters who have taken one crash diet after another seem to have slower weight loss results. I was blessed with wonderful insurance and realized that at 150lbs overweight the chances of me losing the excess weight where next to none and keeping it off was even a lower chance. Sorry I don't have any answers. Best wishes,

    My cry for help

Sorry to hear you aren't doing too well. Congrats on the success. How much saline do you have in your band? Have you thought about anxiety medications? Many of us (including myself) are on it. My tummy seems to get emotional with me too. Best wishes!

    Anyone having port pain?

Yeah, lately I've had some discomfort. It seems that my ribs and port are having a disagreement at the moment. I have tried to contact my doctor last week, but they stay busy. I am going to call back on Monday and try to set up an appt with him to get checked out.

    I Need Help....

Two words, BITE ME... lol just tell them that. It's not their body. I carried around 150 extra pounds for over 10 years. I feel like I am almost free, it was more of a health concern rather than cosmetic. Don't let anyone change your mind, you have to do what is right for YOU. Best of luck to ya!

    Port Pain

Anyone else experiencing port pain? I feel like it is rubbing up against my ribs. I am about 13 months post-op and this is new. I haven't had a recent fill so I doubt it's infection.

    Pregnant

Wow Congrats! Please keep us posted on a bandit pregnancy.
  9. It's an emotional rollercoster. My hubby and I have both had this surgery. We both have been obese all our lives and didn't want our daughter to go through this. I send her food to daycare, I try to give her healthier choice such as fruit instead of Cookies and she eats just about every veggie there is. Personally I think you should focus on health instead of weight loss. I had this surgery to prevent diabetes and to try to get healthier, the weight loss was a "side effect" if you will. Make it a family goal to get healthy. Take care and keep us posted.

My not so happy Lap Banding

Glad to hear you are okay. Please know this is not the norm. Concentrate on healing not weight loss at this point. Your body has been through a lot with surgery and illness. It will be worth it, you will lose weight. Take care,

    Shame on Golden Corral.

Hubby and I decided to "beat the beast" so to say and make a visit to our local buffet. We typically enjoy the yummy food at Souper salad (who by the way does offer a discount to WLS patients). I had called shortly after my surgery to see if they give a discount and they said yes, with proof of surgery (the card). I didn't have my card at the time and just said forget it. The last time I went into the resturant they told me they would honor our cards this time, but not to be surprised if they don't in the future as it is "against company policy" to honor WLS discounts as Golden Corral is an "all you can eat resturant" and "if that is all you can eat, then that's all you can eat". I know they aren't the best place to eat, but every now and then I enjoy a change of pace and I can honestly behave myself enough now to eat there. Personally I think that type of company attitude promotes obesity. Gotta love the all mighty dollar!

I'm currently an MA planning on getting my RN. I currently go to school on Saturdays to get some of my pre-reqs out of the way. I work for a group of spine surgeons in DFW.

I've never cared for Target's selection of clothes for those of us with some meat on our bones. Don't get discouraged!

    Pregnant and Considering LB???

I had a c-section and waited 10 months after my daughter was born to have this surgery. Personally I think you should weight until she is about 4-6 months old and have it done then. Our bodies go through a lot w/having a baby and I honestly don't think my surgeon would have done it so soon after delivery especially with my c-section.
