I think My Surgeon Just Fired Me...

It's liability. Nobody wants to be responsible for someone else's mistakes. I worked for a group of spine surgeons before I got into gastro. Pt. care doesn't come first anymore. It's all CTA (cover they azz).

Welcome from another Texan. I wish you the best of luck.

    What are you eating 1 year+ post-op?

Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I had my lap band a year ago in August. It's the best thing I have ever done. I do still eat with my family and enjoy fast food, it's just MUCH less than before. I can eat a bite or two of just about anything and I do reward myself with ice cream. There is life after weight loss surgery, you just learn to enjoy the weight loss more than the food and personally I associate hamburgers and fried chicken (stuff that got me fat) with pain and I tend to stay away from it. Best of luck to ya!

    I just...

destroyed 4 credit cards, my most happy destruction was Lane Bryant's Gold card. I don't miss shopping there. Macy's and NY & Company hurt a bit, but I'll love it when we get the new house.

    Minute Maid Light

Anyone else addicted? I love the Cherry Limeade (they have other flavors). No carbonation and low calorie. They come in cans which make it really easy for me and have between 5-10 calories per can. They are awesome unlike most diet stuff I've tried it doesn't have a weird after taste and it quenches my thirst.

    Going out to eat?

I can only speak for myself. Hubby and I go out to eat way too often. We usually skip the fast food places though. We have "nights" that we go to certain places. For some reason Mexican food goes down easily. I make sure not to load up on the chips and salsa, sometimes I don't even eat any of it to save the room for my dinner. I have a tendency to start talking and end up getting stuff with it. I do still (as a source of habit) look for the bathroom before I sit down. It's always a good thing to know especially since I have a 2 year old! :xena_banana: Best of luck to ya!

    post op regrets

It's normal for you to go through a depressed period of time due to the rapid decrease in calories. I know I did and I got more upset because I was unable to eat my pain away anymore. Give yourself time to heal then make the decision.

    Good Bra...

Can anyone recommend a good bra? I have one style from Fredericks that I have fell in love with. My problem is I have a B cup now (down from a C) and I have what I call "bat wings" under my arms (the side of my breasts) they seem to come out the top of whatever bra I have if the bands on the side aren't wide enough. I have tried Victoria Secret's Gel Pushup bra and it's okay, but the girls need help. :help: Thanks Ladies
  10. As promised here is the final picture with the makeup and hair done... Christmas 2006 (minus 130lbs) Christmas 2004 (6 months pre-op, almost my heaviest)

HELP!! What if I LOSE WEIGHT???

Do exercise goals. I want to someday take a kick boxing class. I am considering signing up for a boot camp class taught by an ex-marine in January. Another thing you may try is to buy a pair of pants that are many sizes too small and work to get into them. Continue to do that and before you know it you will be at your goal. Best of luck to ya. I think the mental aspect is 98% of what it takes to lose the weight with the band.

    Yogurt-restriction when eating???

It's probably the coldness that's getting you. The cold makes your stomach/band contract and tighten. I can't eat yogurt because it takes so long to warm up in my tummy, I hate the feeling. Ice cream goes down really good for me though. Go figure!
  14. Welcome to the forum. All of us have had our doubts. In time of weakness I have always gone to the before and after pages and looked at the results of others. The best piece of advice I can give you is not to concentrate on your weight. I know that sounds weird, but I always counted success by what I can do. Make a list of things you want to do and mark them off one by one. It's a great goal setter and something to look back at when times get rough. One thing I have pointed out many times is don't be surprised if you are going through a slight depression from the decrease in calories. Pre-op jitters are normal, I wanted to bail before my surgery, I'm actually surprised I went through with it. Best of luck to ya!

    Pop or not?

My surgeon says no carbonation. That being said, I've never really given up sodas. I finally quit after my last fill, but it was because I didn't like having the farts, I mean the gas has to go somewhere and when you are in a room with a patient there are only 2 ppl to blame and when the patient knows it wasn't him, that makes for an aweward situation. :girl_hug: My new addiction... diet lemonade..

I want a Big Mac in a bad way

Congrats on the banding and welcome! As far as wanting this or that, give yourself time to heal and go for it. I'm not talking a super-sized order of fries, but if you want one or two here or there that's not a problem. As overweight people we don't know what a portion is. What always worked for me was getting just enough to enjoy the flavor on a napkin and throwing (or giving) the rest away. I still eat a bite or two of whatever I crave, but being almost a year and half out I know what will make me suffer and I avoid it. A hamburger with bread means pain to me and it's not worth it to me. Best of luck to you with your new band.

    Port Pain???

I'd ask your doctor before taking multiple Aleve or any NSAIDS. I'll take a dose here and there for my back, but not back to back. Best of luck to ya.

    Hiccups?

Yeah that's how it works for hubby and me.

    5 days post op diarrahea?

I know that typically liquid in = liquid out. But I never heard of anyone having it that bad after banding. You should contact your doctor.

    Having my band removed

It's definatly and adjustment thing. You have to mentally come to terms with not eating so much. I have yet to give anything up. I can have a bite or two of just about anything, I just have to remind myself where to stop. One thing that people don't realize often is the fact that when you decrease your calorie intake it's quite common to go through a depression phase. So give it time.

    Update on me...

I didn't have my port replacement on Thursday. I have decided to wait on that as I am not ready for another surgery at the moment. I did get fill that almost brought me up to where I was before. My doctor and I had a heart to heart about his staff so hopefully things will get better there, he acknowledged there was a problem and I'm good with it. He wants me down to 150 as my final weigh. I am only 4lbs heavier now than my lowest weight and I stopped drinking the higher calorie sodas and lemonade (I love the lemonade) so hopefully things will start going the right direction soon. Thanks everyone for your help and thoughts.

    Dr. Robert O. Powell - Dallas/Richardson

I still have a lot of respect for Dr. Powell. I would recommend him to anyone. We got our misunderstandings worked out and all is well.

    pregnant 6 weeks later!!!

I was over 300lbs when I got pregnant with my daughter. I was not banded at the time so I can't tell you what a "banded pregnancy" would be like. I can tell you just because you are overweight does not automatically mean a bad pregnancy. I found http://www.plus-size-pregnancy.org/ to be a very helpful website. Best of luck to you!
