  1. I didn't tell my primary care doctor until after I had it done. He has been very pleased with my results. Hubby had it done in January and is getting his first (long overdue) fill Thursday. Don't let him discourage you, you have to do what is RIGHT FOR YOU.

    Letters to loved ones....

I wouldn't focus on something so morbid. I know surgery is scary, but you will do fine!!

    I did it!!!

I bought a size 15 from a skinny biotch store!! Not plus size, they were juniors!! This time last year I was barely fitting into a tight pair of 24's, it's so amazing!

Pregnancy okay at 4 months post-op?

Mine said to wait 18 months. I would definately talk to your surgeon and OB/GYN before you make a decision. Best of luck to ya!

Where's our 6 month anniversary people at??

I'm closer to 7, I lost count.
  10. Looks like all the years I spent overweight has done real damage to my body. I am 27 years old with a possible herniated disc. My back is hurting me pretty good and has for quite a long time (on and off). I finally went to a specialist today and after an x-ray he told me I needed and MRI for sure. Of course they refuse to perform one until Dr. Powell says it's okay. I guess I am kinda blah about this because I had surgery to prevent these types of problems. I just wish I had insurance and a chance to have the band 10 years ago before I got upto almost 300lbs and carried it around for so long. All I can do now is know that yeah, I abused my body and move on to try to get my back better. I was just hoping it was from losing weight so fast and my body was out of alignment. :cry

    Anyone else sick of food?

I typically don't crave anything. I know I can handle a bite or two of anything I want and that always takes the craving away. I've only been banded for about 6 months, I've noticed I go through phases as far as food goes. There are times I could care less, but when I am interested in food, it's not the same as it was before. I can't stand to be full, I hate the feeling so I always stop when I am just satisfied.

does it feel weird to be loosing weight?

I know what you mean. I am 216lbs, the smallest I've been since middle school. I still feel like I am 300lbs. I feel better than I did at 300lbs, but my mind keeps telling me to buy the size 24's and the 2x and 3x's.

    Food was my friend

At times I miss my old food habits. But when I realize how much weight I have lost and the fact that the food I used to eat did me so wrong by making me almost 300lbs, I get over it real quick! Best of luck to you!

    What's wrong with Slim Fast?

I've tried Slim Fast as an occasional snack. It's not that bad, but boy does it give me the farts, can we say lactose intolerance?? TMI I know!

    20lbs to go!!

Until my first really big goal. I want to be under 200lbs for my 28th birthday at the end of May. I haven't been under 200 since I was in middle school!! I am at 219 right now, I dunno what I am going to do when there isn't a 2 in front of the number anymore. Sorry I just had to brag!!
  16. Microsoft is the best. Hubby works there and we don't pay for our health insurance, they covered Lap Band for both of us with ZERO out of pocket. No co-pays or deductibles, they even cover 100% of fills. www.microsoft.com/jobs they have a site in Las Colinas, not all jobs are technical, but I dunno how hard it is to get on. He's been there for almost 9 years.

    Clothes in your closet

Something you might try is FreeCycle on Yahoo. You could probably find someone there quickly that needs them and could use them.

    Back Pain

I know it sounds crazy, but I had constant back pain for over a year, it went away for about 8 months and now it's back. Has anyone else experienced low back pain/tail bone pain AFTER losing weight? Perhaps my body is majorly out of alignment from losing almost 80lbs in 6 months?

    Back Pain

Thanks everyone! So far today the pain isn't that bad. I have noticed that doing a great deal of walking seems to help. I had the same problem during my pregnancy and after giving birth to my daughter. I did visit with a Chiropractor then (after my baby was born) and honestly left there in MORE pain most of the time than I went in with. He had a RMT doing deep tissue massages and it didn't help. I quit going and the pain went away.

    Take your Biotin!

Even though my doctor told me that Flintstones were okay and that 2 equal an adult's dose, I ended up buying Chewable Centrum and taking it instead. I'll check the biotin in it and see.

    Starting to get nervous

You will do fine. It's the normal pre-op what in the hell am I about to do to myself. I went through it too. It was followed by the what the hell did I do to myself question for about the next 2 weeks. Remember things do get better!

    scars and tanning

When I had my c-section my doctor told me to wait a year before I tried to tan because otherwise it would discolor the scar and make it more pronounced.

    Just home after surgery

Congrats on the surgery. Things will get a little easier each day. I was already sleeping on my tummy 3 weeks post-op. It's amazing how fast your body heals. Welcome to the losing side!

Feel l ike I can eat a horse

Please try to be careful. The reason they tell you to be on liquids is to keep your stomach from having to contract to digest food. This is important to in order to build scar tissue around the band to support it. You will eat again, right now you need to concentrate on healing.
