  1. Congratulations on making it to the the "loser's bench"! I'm one of the lucky ones. The first few days post-op were rough for me. Pain, trouble breathing, fatigue. But by day 5 I started to feel better, and I was back to work a week later and fishing the week after that. I think the hardest part is getting in enough fluids so you don't feel dehydrated. I still struggle with getting enough Water. Make sure you are getting in your Protein, too.

The pain will subside. Before you know it, it will be a distant memory. Good luck!

    Be well…

  2. What you are feeling is perfectly normal. It's a major, life-changing decision, and one that should not be made hastily! Hang out here. A lot. Ask questions. Read the success stories and get inspired. Check out any stories of complications, and discuss your concerns with your surgeon. Have faith in yourself. Good luck!

  3. Oh yes, you'll go through phases with that. For the first two weeks post-op, all I wanted was a piece of pizza. When I finally transitioned to solid foods 8 weeks after surgery, I had one slice. It sat like a brick in my new tummy. And it was delicious. I've found the cravings subsided. Once you hit pureed foods, that will help. I was never more happy to have scrambled egg whites than the day I switched over from liquids. Everyone will say this, but it does indeed get easier.

  4. Yeah, the first couple of week can really throw you for a loop. The first few days home for me were really rough. Heating pads helped a great deal with the pain, and I too had trouble breathing. But it got better.

I'm now two months out, and just started solid foods. And while my head is happy about that, my tummy… not so much. You'll get tired of hearing this, but our bodies need time to adapt and adjust to the changes we're placing on them. Go easy on yourself, follow your surgeon's instructions, and you'll be fine.

  5. Don't obsess about the number on the scale. I know. I know. Easier said than done. But you have to trust the process. Stalls are common, and happen to pretty much everyone. I think someone here once said that posts about disappointing numbers are the most common posts of all. Yet if you look at long-term stats, everyone does well at the end of the day. Keep plugging along, follow your doctors instructions, vent here when you need to. You're going to be fine.

Denise (who is pushing through a huge stall herself. LOL)

  6. That's just your new tummy trying to figure out what the heck is going on. I'm two months out today, and will occasionally get the gurgles. It's normal, and as your body adjusts, it will be more forgiving. If you have pain or discomfort along with that, best to check with your surgeon.

  7. They can work on the stomach, but we have the real hard work dealing with what's going on in our heads. To the OP (and to all of us who indulged, including myself), you're going to be fine. Try to stay focused and remind yourself why you had the procedure to begin with.

My own calorie count came in at about 1750-1800 for the day yesterday. Darned that creme brulee at the restaurant! It was delicious. A year ago, I would have had 3 or 4. This would have been on top of whatever I had at the main buffet. My calorie count would have been 10,000 easy, so I'm OK with where I'm at. Protein shakes and fish for the next few days, though!

    Be well everyone…

  8. Hi everyone!

Stuck in a nasty stall, where I've actually gained a couple of pounds since Monday, and today I switch to solid foods. My boss is bringing in pizza to Celebrate my transition - this is at my request pre-stall (me and my big mouth, LOL). And Sunday the family is going out to an all-you-can-eat brunch. I've already kept my Breakfast today light with about 1/2 cup of homemade chicken Soup. And dinner will be light too, maybe just a little sashimi and a Protein shake. I want sushi, but the rice might not be a good idea right now, especially since I'll be having carbs at lunch. Sunday I plan on a few shrimp and whatever fish they have that looks good.

Anyway, any suggestions on how to transition to solids while in the middle of a stall? Should I keep the solids to a minimum (if at all) until the scale starts moving again?

Thanks so much, I hope everyone is doing OK.

    Be well…

  9. I'm in the exact same boat as you! Two months out on Monday, down 50 and stuck. I've actually been fluctuating upwards a pound or three. It's very frustrating! Some people say to increase Protein. Or increase exercise. Some say cut back some calories, some say increase them (LOL). Everyone says drink more Water, and to not weigh yourself so much.

How has your eating/exercise been? Water and Protein intake? All on point? If so, just keep pushing forward, it's going to be OK. Trust the process.

Apparently these things happen. What I'm doing is just trying my best to stay focused and not let the stall derail me. I know I'm doing the right thing. I know I need to drink more water. The stall has made me take a long, hard look at my diet the past few weeks, and I've found areas that could use tweaking, afterall. Do you log your foods? If so, this is a great time to really look it over.

    Good luck, and be well…

  10. You're going to be fine! Is it easy? Nope. Not at all. But you can do it! The popsicles are going to be a little slice of heaven. How about broth, can you have that? I loved making homemade chicken Soup (giving the solids to the dog, LOL) and savoring the hot broth. Now's a good time to experiment with different herbal teas if you like that sort of thing. Before you know it, the two weeks will be over and you'll be joining us on the loser's bench.

    Be well…

  11. I'm so upset, and I just need to vent. I gained 3lbs since Monday. What's up with that? My eating has been good, about 850-900 cal a day, and while I'm struggling with getting in my Water, I've gotten better. I went to boot camp Monday and earlier this morning. It's not that time of the month. I'm doing well with watching my sodium. I just don't get it. On Monday when I weighed in, I had only lost one pound since last week, and that was disappointing enough, but now this? I feel like crying.

    *sigh*

    Thanks for "listening"
