    reality sitting in

Well this may put your mind at ease. My nutritionist set a really crazy goal for me to meet before I could have my surgery. I only had 1 month to lose 27 pounds! Needless to say, I did EVERYTHING she said and I only lost 20 during that month. I was so upset I cried the day of my appointment cause I felt like I failed. When I got there, she acted like I did super de duper!! She was excited for me and said that took real committment. Needless to say they let me proceed no problem. I shouldn't get your hopes up, but 1 pound does not seem like it would be a show stopper. Praying for a positive result. And don't worry over it. Stress can lead to hunger and only make it harder for you. Stay positive!

    CRAVINGS....& other things....

I had the sleeve so I can only speak for myself. I have found that I am so satisfied and full most of the time that I do not have cravings for anything. Hopefully that will be the scenerio for you as well. Good luck and I wish you great success!!..PS. I was a big fan of the peanutbutter chocolate mix myself!!

I have Fallen of the wagon

I'm happy that you recognize your behavior. Please just do NOT make it a habit. You have worked waaaaaay to hard and I'm sure adopted a healthier way of life by now. These changes are imparative to be sucessful. We are human and we all fall short at one time or another. However, I know you can turn away from these kind of situations. i only go to a restaurant now if I am with a social event, and even then I choose extremely wisely. High protein, lo carb & water. Drive on by those drive thru's and remember they are probably a big source of what put us in bad shape to begin with. I'm wishing you continued success and wise choices. You are not alone on your journey. Look at all the support you have been given just on this thread! : )

    Now the wait...

I hope everything goes smoothly for you. All in good timing. Sometimes our timing isn't God's timing. I will tell you this, even the 6 months will have passed quickly in retrospect when you finally get your surgery. I started my pursuit in August and didn't have surgery until January 23rd. Even though I thought it was taking forever, now it seems like it was really quick. Chin up and stay positive and keep after your goal! i'm excited for you!
  6. Hooray for you!!! Just knowing serious help is on the way can do miracles. Wishing you great success! It looks like you have already been off to a great start! Keep up the hard work.

Spasms and hunger. Please go away!

So sorry to hear this. I have had nothing but good since my sleeve. I pray that the spasms stop and you will be able to enjoy the benefits of success. I would also keep in close contact with your surgeon if the pain persists. I'm pretty sure this is not normal.

    Progress update

Thank you for sharing!! I love encouraging posts like this!..And Congrats! you are very successful!!
  9. Just my thoughts on this. If you were cleared for talapia I'm thinking you could possibly have pureed sides. No RAW Veggies. I can't even have those yet, but I do run cooked veggies through the puree cycle. Sometimes I will have just a couple bites of Protein and then a couple bites of veggies just so I feel like I have variety. Just a suggestion... I too miss salads. Never in all my years of dieting did I ever think I would!

    Mixed feelings

I'm a firm believer that people come and go in our lives for a reason. Sometimes we are the support and sometimes we are the supported. Friendships are funny things. Some friends I may not hear from or talk to for years, yet we can pick up over a simple phone call like it was yesterday and have great conversation. It doesn't mean we'll go back to best friends, but it shows we still care even if our lives are "too busy or moved apart". I feel for you that you are hurting, but be sure you are not overlooking close friendships who are there for you now while you are trying to recapture the friendship you once had. Send your letter and pray for the best or you will always wonder. Wishing you well.
  11. I've had this very similar situation myself. I was so worried about the scale since my co-workers would say, "so how much wight have you lost now?" It was like they were waiting to hear some astronomical number!! I almost felt like I was disappointing them if I said 12pounds etc.... I discussed this the last time I went to my nutritionist and she wasn't happy with my thinking. Here was her tips: 1. it's no one's business how much you've lost. #2 Everyone is different and we all have our own journey. She said I'll be losing for the next year to year and a half so what's the rush. Do it slow and healthy. Enjoy it! #3.and the most painful in my book..Stop weighing myself everyday! Only weigh once a week tops. Go as long as I can without weighing. She said I will be forced to enjoy how I feel and my accomplishments without the dreaded numbers on a scale hanging over my head.... She was sooo right! I haven't weighed since that visit on 2/21/14. I go back on 03/28/14 and I can't wait! She is going to be so happy for me. Plus I feel sensational. I'm not worried about my weight cause I feel so incredibly good and my clothes are big! ...I hope the best for you!!

    Any regrets?

This is me personally...I was sleeved this January, and honestly, I wish I would have done this 2 years ago when a doctor first mentioned bariatric surgery. I was stubborn and thought I could lose the weight on my own. Obviously I couldn't keep it off or I would have never ever been in the shape I was in when I finally decided to go for it! Above someone mentioned the first 2 weeks being the hardest and I totally agree with them. Once I was off liquids, I was overjoyed to get pureed foods and I did quite well! I'm in stage 3 and I feel better than i have for years! I am pulling things out of my closet I haven't worn for 4 years and I am walking soooo much better.(bad knees & back). Oh, I am also off my blood pressure meds!! I have NO regrets. Social events eating out is tricky, but so worth the extra effort to follow our new way of life!!

    Restaurant eating:

Thank you for sharing! I actually think that sounds delicious and yes, healthy for eating out. I love reading others expiriences who are further out.

    The learning curve

i'm not saying your portions may be too big, but just in case here is a suggestion...I carry a small 4 oz, (1/2cup), container in my car and my purse. That way I can always portion out my food or at least can eyeball it truthfully. It doesn't look like alot, but it is suffient and I have never expirienced the vomitting, watery mouth, or other commonly discussed symptoms I read about in here. I also ask fo a to go container as soon as I get my meal if i'm out and portion the remaining out in the 1/2 cups after I get home. If I'm having more than one item, I will devide my food into 2oz Protein and 2oz veggies or side dish.I have also noticed I definately have to eat slower. I hope all gets a little smoother for you as I'm sure it will for all of us. Maybe I need to get used to shying away for the 1/2 cup measuring and see if I can pick up on my body signals better. : )

    IT WORKS! SLOW LOSERS REJOICE!

Maybe that's my problem. People can really tell I'm losing, however the scale is barely moving. I use my fitness pal and my calories average 550-750 calories a day. I do get plenty of protein. I will try upping my calories a few days and see how it goes! Thank you for sharing!! : )

    Amazing Arms?

I remember while doing research about the sleeve, I watched a Youtube video of a lady who had the same problem with her arms. She showed some "sleeves" she put on under her shirt made by Spanx. I can't remember what she called them, but she even commented that she could wear a whole blouse size smaller with it on. I just remember thinking to myself "I'll have to remember Spanx for my arms when the time comes".... Personally, I don't know anyone who has them. I also remember my nutrtionist telling me if I don't want surgery down the road if I have excess skin, there's always Spanx. So far so good, but I am definately willing to try them one day if needed.

    PreOp Diet

Oh sweetie. You can soooo do this. I remember the liquid diet. It almost got unbearable for me half way through the week. However, I just kept thinking about my surgery and how much better i'm going to feel one day. I told myself everyday, "This is just temporary. I can do this." Somehow i got thfough it and you will too. We work too hard to make it all happen and go smoothly to just throw it all away on a meal or something our nutritionist tells us we shouldn't have. Try to stay focused on a hobby or something that will take your attention away from food. I know you can do this. If I can, any one can! ; ) Praying you will not be discouraged and you will reap the benefits of your hard work. Stay positive!!

Congrats on your surgery date!! I hope you find the resources inside you to stay focused and do well. I used my pre-op diet time as a dry run for my surgery. I wish you great success!! Stressful situations like funerals can be triggers for stress eating. Just be aware of those kind of pitfalls and you will do awesome! Congrats again!! : )

    anxiety

Okay, you feel you are having a slow weight loss, but how do you feel? How do your clothes fit? Are you healthier? There are so many more aspects to what we are doing than a number on the scale. The last time I saw my nutritionist, she told me to get off the scale and quit weighing every single day!! She said since I was upset over comparing myself to others, and in a bad mood when there was no loss, that I was not feeling the happiness and full benefit of the success I was overlooking...All because I obsessed over a number on a scale! She wants me to not weigh until my next appointment. In a month!! She said if I can't make it, only weigh once a week. Tomorrow will make 3 weeks since I have weighed. I feel TERRIFIC!! I AM HAPPIER! Please stay positive and stick to the plan. It's not a race. It's a lifetime commitment. i think 30 pounds is super!! : )

6 Months Post Op Today with Pics

You look fabulous!! Thank you for sharing and the encouragement!!
  25. My nutritionist told me when I asked her a similar question, "What does it matter? In the big picture, it's about YOU and how YOU feel, how much healthier YOU are!" She was right! I learned to be proud of my hard work and not dwell on those sho have lost more. I AM happy and feeling great! They are right, too many factors. Everybody is unique. Be yourself, follow your plan, and enjoy your results. : )
