    a streched stomach pouch?

I agree! I only lost 13 pounds my first month after surgery and was freaked out since I was reading the huge amounts everyone else was dropping. I also had a stall my 3rd & 4th week post op. My nutritionist said it was because I lost 35 Pre-op and my body was fighting to hold on to everything I had. Trust us... Stick to the program and it will start dropping again. My second month I dropped an additional 25!! I will be 3 months post-op this coming Wednesday and I noticed last week that I can eat a 6 oz yogurt now. I was a little freaked since I was making it a point to eat no more than 4oz at a time. They say no more than 8oz at a time but it still startled me. I think it is natural for us to worry a little about our "firsts" since this is a whole new way of life. You are doing great!
  2. I took one week off for my sleeve and was fine!! I was driving within 5 days post op! You don't have to tell anyone anything. I was like you too. Fear of judgement. Then one day I just came out with it! The better you start to feel and the more in control of your eating you become, the more self confidnece will grow and you will not worry about the judegement of others. And those who are not supportive are ignorant of the the facts. You will still have to work hard , it's not a magic operation. Some people don't get that..... As for 6 months out, I am 3 months out and very social!! I just make wise choices and eat small amounts. I think you will be just fine. It's hard sometimes, but I feel GREAT! Like I said, once the weight starts falling off, all those worries will disappear!! Best wishes of great success. You are doing this for a healthier you!! No one else!

Having Surgery in a few hours!

Prayers your way!!! It's so exciting! Congrats on the start of your new journey!!
  4. I'm find that when I hit a stall, nothing is sure fire. It's discouraging I know... Just stay true to your portion sizes, Protein first, Lo carb, and sipping Water in between meals... Our basics is all I have to offer. I try not to get upset over stalls and have just come to accept them for what they are, but sticking it out and not giving in is the vital key! Hoping your transition goes smoothly!!

    Stool Softener

Try the stool softner gel caps. I take the Kroger or Great Value Brand twice a day and they definitely help me. Don't take one on an empty stomach though. I usually wait a half hour after eating Breakfast and dinner.
  6. My sweet treat once a week is the Breyers CarbSmart Vanilla Bean! Love it!!

    Obsessed!

It's natural to do that. My nutritionist made me stop weighing myself and I am only to get weighed at my appointments because I was obsessing. She said I wasn't enjoying the full benefits of my weight loss since I was only focusing on a number!! She was right! I gave up the scale, I felt better and was more aware of my loss since it forced me to focus more on my body. I lost 25 pounds that month!! I go back to her on the 28th and I can't wait!!....I am a huge decaf tea drinker. I love all the flavored teas that are out. Two of my favorites right now are the Counrty Peach Passion and the Manderin Orange Spice from Celestrial Seasonings. They aren't even expensive teas!! LOL

    How is everyone doing?

You had a great start!! I had my sleeve January 23rd. I had lost 35 pre-op, lost 13 first month out, 25 more for a total of 38 pounds post-op the second month out. I don't go back till April 28th for my third month check up. I can't wait!! I am excited about my progress. Not to mention how much better I feel!! It's not just about the pounds for me. It's how I feel and my health.

3 days post op is this normal?

I had this but it only lasted 3 days. My concern for you is that it is going on for a week now. Do you have problems with anethesia that you know of? I would at least call your doctor if it is not better by tomorrow since that will make 1 complete week. I promise once you shake the nausea, it is soooooooo much better. Praying for you a speedy recovery and great success!!

3 days post op is this normal?

I had nasuea the first 3 full days. I remember talking to my husband and all the sudden it just stopped. I looked at him and said Quick, bring me a popsicle! I kept it down and have never felt that way again!! It will get better and then you will be happy!
  12. I had to save some more money to get mine so I took six months. I think if I would have had my money up front it would have only taken maybe 1 month, 2 tops. Once I had my money everything was boom, boom, boom right there. Congrats to you!! I wish you the best success!!
  13. I not only had the protein shakes, but the protein soups and powdered eggs. I spiced and seasoned like crazy when on the pre-op diet. When I asked my nutritionist, she said spice all I wnt as long as I shyed away from salt/sodium. There are lots of seasonings out there now days so I didn't miss the salt. Keep up the great work! PS...crushed red pepper was one of my faves!!
  14. Hooray for you!!! I pray a speedy recovery and best wishes for success!! Enjoy your new journey.

    Stomach Growling

I had lots of stomach growling and I burped al lot in the beginning. I am 2 1/2 months post op and the growling isn't so much now. However I still feel the need to burp every so often. I think it is just normal considering all the changes we had to go through. My first thought was your protein, but you answered that right off stating you are meeting your protein requirements. Maybe it is more "digestive" noise than "growling" you are hearing.

    I'm approved!

YAY!!! Hooray for you!! We will be excited for you as you begin your new journey. I wish you great success!!
  17. Thank you KeeWee!! Very encouraging!! Hoping your journey stays equally as encouraged and successful!!
  18. Swelling and possibly the sodium in any of your painkillers or medicines. Medicine can have so many hidden side effects these days. Please do not stop taking the meds if you are on anything. Once you have healed and off the medication, your weight will start coming back down. Praying a speedy recovery!!
  19. I doubt that you did any harm. However, you may want to go back to smaller drinks, just more often. Don't make it a habit if you feel that you over do it in either food or drink. I read that in an article that stressed the importance of making sure you get back on track immediately if you feel you lost it a little. Our bodies are pretty tough and our stomachs are naturally "stretchy to start with. It will shrink with less again. I wouldn't stress over it. Best wishes of great success to you!

trying not beat myself up lol

Hooray for you!! Look at the big picture. Hitting every goal would be amazing, but sometimes our bodies just don't cooperate no matter how hard we try. Stay positive! You're almost there!!!

    Fell off the wagon but...

Knowing what we are doing and starting to take accountability is huge. Congrats!! I see you are almost to your goal weight. How exciting!!! I am excited for you! I know that the maintenience may be tough at times, but you have the drive and the freedom of choice to make it happen. Great work! Keep it up and thank you for being an encouragement to me. I still have a long road ahead, but feeling confident! Best wishes!!

    help.! not losing

PS... Sorry about your break up. Emotional eating is huge. Try to stay focused on projects and keeping busy. I do spring cleaning!! It's great exercise as well!! Just so you know, 25 pounds since Feb 17th is GREAT!!! Keep it up!

    help.! not losing

Well it looks like you have already lost 31 pounds. That 30 pound mark always has a plateau area around it somewhere. At least it does for me. Hang in there and stick to your guidelines and it will drop again. I went through a couple already. I did everything they tell you to try...extra water, exercise, no salt, etc.... My nutritionist said my body was just holding on to every ounce it could thinking I'm starving it and to wait it out. She also made me stay off the scale for a while so I would dwell on how I felt instead of the number on the scale. It worked! She was right! I wish I had some magic answer other than stick it out, but I don't know of one. Best wishes and I'm sure you'll do great.
  25. My family is the same exact way!! I have been learning to try to stay occupied. Especially keeping my mind busy. I have already been getting alot of spring cleaning done!! It's great exercise and by the time I am done, I feel so happy with my accomplished project on hand, I really don't want to eat. I'm actually getting things done that I have wanted to get to for a couple years now. Find something mentally rewarding to do and I believe it helps me not do the "emotional" eating. Everyone is different, but that is how I have been coping with it. I also keep their snacks away from mine. That way I don't have to see theirs when I am hungry. i have been used to them eating in front of me through all the years of yo yo dieting so that doesn't bothmuch anymore either. I wish you all the best and lots of success!!!
