    Dumping Syndrome

Are you sleeve or RNY? From what I remember reading it's common for RNY. For gastric sleeve patients it's not as common but possible.

    Ohio Sleeve patients?

Not drinking 30 mins prior is something many people struggle with so you are not alone.

    Ohio Sleeve patients?

Welcome to the group! I was sleeved 4/8 so I am still fairly new but if I can help in any way don't hesitate to reach out.
  4. I had it also! I showed it to my surgeon at my two week post op and he seemed to think it was just a reaction to the bedding at the hospital or a heat rash of some sort (contact dermatitis). Good news is at 3 weeks post op it is gone now!

    FitBit Friends?

Thanks, I appreciate it. Sounds like you're well on the road to recovery! Hope it's smooth sailing from here on out for you! Hey Josh,I recently switched to the Jawbone UP so I don't know if you will be able to see any activity for me or not. I wanted to let you know just so you don't think I died or something....lol!Take care,Tony

Restaurant and only one week out :(

I feel your pain! Since my surgery on 4/8 I have been through my Dad's birthday dinner at a Mexican restaurant, a friends birthday BBQ and Easter dinner. Just remember the liquid food phases are temporary and soon you will have other food options.
  7. Every day it gets a little easier....hang in there!

    FitBit Friends?

I hope it all goes as planned and your approval comes quickly. Waiting can really suck...haha. I started my process back in October, got approval from insurance in February and had surgery on 4/8/14. I had to delay the surgery a couple of weeks because of some work commitments. Luckily I was able to get it done in early April. I have a tripped planned at the end of May so I wanted to be back to normal as much as possible before the trip. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

    FitBit Friends?

Well I shouldn't use the weather as an excuse. I could always go to the gym to get my walking in. Right now that is all I am allowed to do. In four weeks the doc said I can start playing softball again. You said your surgery is scheduled for July?

    FitBit Friends?

It won't take long for your numbers to get up there. At least you have the nice weather of Hawaii. :-) Our weather has been off and on the past few weeks. Some days it's nice and some days you just want to stay in and hibernate. I need to do better with getting out and walking regardless of what the weather is. Take care, Tony

    FitBit Friends?

Hey Josh, I think that number is the total number of steps since I got the FitBit which was around Christmas. You will start adding up steps fast I am sure. Were you and Alex able to connect? I am considering switching to the Jawbone device so I was just curious. Take care! Tony
  12. "down the drain noises".....haha....I love it! That is exactly what it's like! :-)

    FitBit Friends?

Howdy! Yes, I do have a FitBit currently and would be happy to be friends. I sent you an invite. My email address is tfrance@columbus.rr.com and my FitBit name is Tony F. Although I have to tell you I plan on returning my FitBit because of the skin irritation recall. Until I get my return kit from them I will be continuing to use it. Alex, how do you like your Jawbone Up? I have been looking around and I think that is what I am going to replace my FitBit with. Feel free to reach out anytime! Tony
  15. Samples are a great way to go! Good luck with everything!
  16. Good point....taste buds to change post op so don't commit to a lot of anything until you know what works. You don't want to be stuck with a bunch of nasty tasting stuff you can't use. My suggestion was just to try and get something prior to surgery so that you won't have to be running around town looking for something post op when you would rather be home resting and getting better.

    Tomorrow!

I also went through the emotional roller coaster prior to surgery. Right up until the moment they wheeled me into surgery my mind was playing tricks on me. I have no doubts that having surgery was the right decision. I am two weeks post op now and feeling good and starting to see some results already. In the beginning it may seem like a permanent diet but the surgery is a tool that will help you make the life changes you need to make in order to be healthy. Next thing you know you won't even think about the choices you are making and your new normal will be living a long healthy life. Hang in there!
  18. Bufflehead....great job on pulling all of that info together. I am sure it has helped a lot of people. Starspring....my suggestion is to make sure you find something you like today before you go into the hospital for surgery. You don't want to be out searching for something immediately after you get home from the hospital. Knowing you have something at home that you like will relieve some of the post op worries. I was able to find some at costco (vanilla and ready to drink chocolate) as well as GNC (strawberry and chocolate)...and they taste good! I know the Vitamin Shoppe also has sample packets of many different varieties as well. GNC also carries ISO Pure ready to drink Protein drinks that are clear if you want some variety. I prefer the taste of the powder Protein shakes but the ISO Pure drinks have many different flavors so it's something different. Good luck!

    Newbie Question

I experienced the same thing, especially the first week. After that I didn't notice it as much unless I took too big of a drink and then I could feel it. I explained it as filling a funnel too full and then having to wait for it to drain through. The bubbling and gurgling doesn't last long. It does remind me to slow down though, which is a good thing.

    Heartburn!

    Thanks for the help!
  21. I Was sleeved 4/8/14 and have been doing fairly well. Yesterday I developed heartburn after eating my dinner which was cream of celery Soup thinned with chicken broth and then strained. I have tried Rolaids and GasX but the heartburn keeps coming back. Any suggestions?
  22. I am glad I am not the only person who had a "different" Easter. It actually wasn't too bad until the Easter ham was served and then my mouth started watering. :-) I saved a piece to put in the freezer so when the time comes I can enjoy it.

    Obsessed!

I was sleeved on 4/8 and I have had no problems with decaf tea. Warm lemon tea has been my comfort drink. :-)

    Protein Shakes...

unjury also has a sampler pack available which included chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, chicken soup and unflavored.....I think. :-) Be careful with P28 Foods...they were unable to get a package to me for some reason. I guess creating shipping labels is a difficult task for them. I ordered a sample pkg from them on March 12th and never did get it. I finally just asked for my money back.
