  1. A wee update on my tubing problem. Apparently it was a new type of band that I have had inserted that is not very flexible. Going back into hospital next week to have the tubing buried into abdomen. Hopefully the procedure will be possible at the site and not laparoscopically.

  2. HI Bernie

Yes I do feel hungry- but it seems to go quickly once i Have eaten. I am also sick of Soup but i have made & bought a varierty so that there is some variation. I have to be on liquids for at leat 4 weeks, so I have also eaten jelly, custard, yoghurts (which I hate) and fruit smoothies. I have asked the surgeon for a referal to a dietitian (does not seem to be the norm here!) so hopefully she will help once i am on solid food. It seems strange that there are so many different regimens for post diet doesn't it!

    Take care

  3. Hi Bernie

I think (hope) that my first fill will be on Oct 12th which will be around 5 weeks post op. To be honest I got very little info about post op - most of what I have learned is from this and other online sites. I'm sure that you will feel a bit better next week

  4. Hi Lynsay

I was only banded on 10th sept- so its early days. I was on the NHS waiting list for 2years + and then given 2 weeks notice to have surgery (waiting list initiative in glasgow).

I was terrified - but - for me at least it was absolutely no problem. There is very little pain - a bit of trapped wind for a couple of days- but no pain relief needed after the first 2 days. The first week I had absolutely no appetite. Now there is some hunger feelings but when I eat (I am on Soups and puddings only for 4 weeks) I am quickly full. I hope that I will get my first fill at 4 weeks post op. Please feel free to send me a private message if you want to discuss anything.

  5. Would appreciate advice- I had my band placed on the 10th of september and since the op a section of tubing is protruding beneath the skin- very visably! It is painful - especially when sitting. I saw my surgeon a couple of days ago - who said to lie on my front and it would probably ajust position. Has anyone had this experience and if so did it settle or require further intervention.

  6. Hi was banded yesterday. Everything went well despite weeks and months of worry before hand.

Surgery at 10am and up walking by 6pm. Apart from discomfort from gas (nurses gave me peppermint Water which was great) there is very little pain. Home today. Apart from a little tenderness everything is good. Good luck to all who are waiting

  7. Hi All who are worried about the surgery

Leading up to yesterday I was terrified --- but just to let you know there is nothing to worry about. I had the surgery yesterday morning at 10am and was up walking about at 6pm. There was discomfort more than pain really- mostly caused by trapped gas. The nurses gave me plenty of peppermint Water and by this morning almost all discomfort had gone. Now at home - taking it easy but feeling fine. Hope that this has helped put your minds at ease a little
