  1. I had the blurry vision also. I felt fine but couldn't read anything!

I also got the weird blisters and the ends of my steri strips. They looked like burns. Very raised and filled with clear Fluid. They itched so much. I trimmed all of the strips so they were only covering the actual incisions. The blisters are healing but look worse than my smaller incisions do! Crazy.

  2. Angi- you will love our surgeon. He may seem cold or stiff but he's really a softie at heart. Please feel free to reach out to me if you need anything. I'm only 5 days post OP, so I'm certainly not an expert but I'll share what I know. Are you having your surgery at Riverside or Southside?

I truly do love our surgeon. I was referred to him by a few of my doctors, but also when I was researching info online, I watched the videos posted with him on the local news (watched each one too) I was encouraged and truly felt his integrity and caring showed through. He really seems genuine in his care for people in general as well how he cares about his patients. I will be having my surgery at Riverside (as I live on the westside and that is closer).

I am so excited and am counting down. Please, let's keep in touch, (if that is ok with you). This site is awesome with they way we can all connect, but it is especially great when you find someone who is a 'neighbor' (local buddy, so to speak)

I look forward to hearing your about your journey too. =)

    Sincerely, Angela (aka Angi)

I agree this site is amazing and has helped me so much already. I'd love to have a local buddy also. I've sent you a pm.

  3. I did well on my pre op diet and wondered if I really needed to go through with the surgery. I think I did well BECAUSE I was having the surgery. For the first time in my dieting history I knew it wasn't coming back. I think that was my key to success.

I also was worried that I was not waking up after surgery. I gave my husband instructions. We talked through financial decisions so that my missing income wouldn't destroy the family. I Told my 22 yr old daughter what I'd like her to do with her portion of my life insurance (wedding, down payment on home). I cleaned and organized my office at work and tied up loose ends so anyone could walk in and take over. All of those things made me feel better.

I knew there was a possibility of not waking up, but I knew I would DEFINITELY die early if I didn't have the surgery. My blood pressure is high, one knee was so bad I could barely walk. I get out of breath walking upstairs in my home and from my parking space to my office. I have sleep apnea. It's only a matter of time before diabetes shows up.

    I woke up : )

You are not the only one feeling that fear : )

  4. I wasn't sure what to expect, some members are out grocery shopping on day 3 others are still miserable at day 20. Everyone seems to have a different mental and physical outcome. I don't think I've read anyone that is 6 months + out ever saying they regret it or wouldn't do it again. I feel lucky so far with my recovery. I wish the best for everyone else.

  5. I've had no regrets at all. I do look forward to moving past this icky phase. I do feel emotional. I cried today while watching Monster in Law. lol my husband and I got a good laugh. The roller coaster reminds me of when I was pregnant. Maybe your emotions are playing to your regret? I hope this passes for you quickly.

  6. I loved my Protein Shakes before surgery, now not so much. It feels like there are so many supplements to take. I feel like first I need to keep Water and broth down. Supps aren't going to matter if I'm dehydrated. One chewable multi a day and I'll build up to two and them four. I'll add the others in as I go. I know the Calcium, Iron and B12 are important but I think multi should come first. No way are all of those going down yet. It made me feel better to read the post about the Dr saying to start supps after the two week check up. I've had no pain, stopped meds post op day 2. No gas at all even in the hospital. It's fascinating how different our recoveries are.

  7. My surgery went well. Everyone was so kind and sweet. The last thing I remember is them putting a mask on my face in the OR and one of the nurses patting my chest and rubbing my arm. Sounds silly, but totally put me at ease. I woke up and didn't feel any pain but had horrible dry heaves. It was constant as they took me to my room, I felt bad as we passed anyone in the hallway, I sounded like I was possessed lol. Once I got to my room they gave me more for my nausea and adivan (sp?) to calm me down and knock me out. That stopped it completely. I was very fuzzy and don't remember most of my visitors. I started walking at 1 am. I think they didn't start me sooner because I was so out of it. Walking wasn't painful at all. The only discomfort I've felt is when I have to sit up. Tummy muscles feel weak. chicken broth and ice chips have been easy to go down. I had a few bites of applesauce because the nurse sprinkled the contents of the Prilosec capsule in it. I haven't had any gas pains. I do burb every time I drink anything and I've had the hiccups quite a bit. I hope everyone else has had a great experience.
