    Just Learning

My consult was on Jan 23rd and surgery was Feb 13th...I was self-pay, which definitely made a difference on the timing

    Banded 2-13-14

Five days post op and a bit uncomfortable today...pretty strong pain on the left side of my abdomen - where my breath catches if I breathe too deep...assuming it's part of the healing process...I'm also working, so that could be part of it. Definitely not getting enough hydration because of drinking slowly and getting distracted with other things...need to work on it....also constipated, which adds discomfort...Very moody, which my family is not happy with...haven't pin pointed why I am acting this way...anyone else have these issues after banding?

    Banded 2-13-14

Thanks so much for the great advice! I realized today that it is quite possibly just head hunger, as I am adjusting to not needing to eat, which is odd for me mentally....I do believe the biggest struggle I will most likely have is what I am saying to myself, as my BF reminded me today that it is about my attitude that directly relates to my success.... Very thankful for the pep talk he gave me to set me straight!

    February 2014 bandsters?

Congrats on your loss so far and good luck with your surgery on Friday...Mine was moved from Friday to Thursday...really getting excited!
  5. I am sure there are threads on this, but couldn't find anything quickly, so thought I would start anew. I have read several success stories regarding pounds lost, but I was hoping some existing bandsters would share their success in inches.... In all my dieting, the scale moves much slower than inches lost, so I would love to hear the time line of losing your inches and how many, if you all would like to share... My surgery is coming up on Thursday.... :-)
  6. AMAZING goalseeker!! I can't imagine being able to say that, but I still have hope... Thanks so much for sharing and congratulations on a huge accomplishment!

    February 2014 bandsters?

Good luck B4Tim and showingmyinside! Excited for you both on your new journey... I am on my 3 day countdown til surgery!
  8. Hey everyone, I have a question on going back to work after surgery. I am an Accountant and this is our busy time...I am not telling anyone that I work with about my surgery. I just took one day off for the surgery on a Friday and have client consults and a full day of work the following Monday. Will this big a MAJOR problem?...obviously not recommended, but will I be able to function? I have had 2 C - sections with my kiddos, and have been assured that this won't compare, but am I being too optimistic?

    I need to vent!

I'm sorry, what were we talking about again?....sorry, seemed to have some anger building up on here and I thought I'd try to lighten the mood....I may need meds now... :-)
  10. What a great accomplishment! I can't imagine a 14 because I haven't been that size since high school...big congratulations to you!! I also like the Inspiration you provide by saying you don't care what others think and you're doing this for yourself..I have fallen prey to seeking validation from others and really want to find the inner strength to validate myself instead...great post! Forgot to ask, how long has it taken you to go from an 18 to 14?
  11. Alice- OMG, 52 INCHES!!! FANTASTIC! How long did it take for you?
  12. Terry - 5 inches first week! How great! Thanks for sharing and happy healing from gall bladder surgery...
  13. Okay, my rant is to the only two family members I chose to tell about my upcoming WLS... I have been preached at to lose weight for health reasons for as long as I can remember and now that I am taking a HUGE step forward I get snide looks and "please tell me you are not serious." You would think I said, "Hey, I am going to have a sex change operation this month." Why are they so quick to be against my decision when they have been part of my misery for a long time and know how I have been hurting with all this weight on me (physically and emotionally)?? Grrrr....so frustrating...wish I had kept my mouth closed...

    February 2014 bandsters?

Got a phone call today and my surgery was changed from the 14th to the 13th, so only one week to go as of tomorrow!
  15. Thanks Kit...I would definitely not be on pain meds to commute, meet with clients, or perform my duties...but good point! I chose not to take pain meds after my C - sections because I didn't feel they were necessary, so hopefully this won't be any more invasive...fingers crossed!

    10 month progress

Will do! I am nervous about the whole exercising thing, as I have always said I'm allergic to exercise. Lol. I did 30 minutes of Just Dance 2014 with my family last night and thought I was going to pass out I was so worn out...will I ever enjoy it like so many people on here?
  18. My reaction was to hold up my hand before they could say more and say, "this is my decision that I didn't come to lightly...I did the research, am confident with my choice and am moving forward with or without your support..." they did back pedal a little when I said that because they new if they said anything else that was negative, it would make them look bad. I may not be confident all the time and I come to this forum for support, but they don't need to know that!

    10 month progress

Congratulations! You look great! I have the same starting weight as you and am getting banded on the 14th. Did you lose gradually over the 10 months or a lot at first and then it slowed?
  20. Wow Valarie, I think you have me beat by a long shot on being tough! Thanks for the feedback and it's good to know others are doing this too.
  21. Andy, good luck to you on your Feb 21st date! I will let you know how it goes for me with going back to work early.
  22. Thanks Wade...I appreciate the feedback and it is something I need to hear so I don't get over zealous right after surgery.
  23. Thanks B-52...sounds like I am just going to have to listen to my body, because even if my mind is ready, my body may disagree...
