  1. I was told to take 2 chewables. I do not start calcium and others if needed until after surgery. They will tell me at the post op appointment.

    Selfish?

I am sorry for your loss :-( Losing a parent (or anyone) is a hard thing. Grief is necessary yet there is no timetable on the stages of grief. I'm not sure waiting 2 months would make a difference. I think you are able to be a support at anytime. So, my thought is....not selfish.
  3. I was recommended by my nutritionist Flinstones or the Generic brand of them CHEWABLE (not the gummy). More than likely because there aren't many "adult" chewable Multivitamins out there.
  4. This past week I ate all of the things I knew I wasn't going to be eating for a long time; if ever again. Today, the first day of pre-op diet I realize how much "food" is apart of my life simply out of habit! Routines....get in the car, go to Kwik Trip, get a coffee and donut etc. etc. I found myself doing that routine this morning and saying outloud to myself, "What are you doing here?" Made me realize that my habits and routines surrounding food are getting ready to be FOREVER changed!! I knew it intellectually but I FELT it today. I know this is what I need and want and am ready to do. However, I have to remind myself that this will be a process. If it took me 51 years to create these habits and routines I have to give myself permission to learn something new and not expect it to happen overnight. For perfectionists (like myself) that's a hard thing to do. We can do this! We deserve this!
  5. Thanks! Keeping my eye on the prize!

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Me too Shubie! I start tomorrow and today I've had a little bit of just about everything you can imagine. It really does feel like a funeral. But this is a funeral I am going to welcome. Best of luck!

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Went and bought my Protein shakes for pre-op diet that starts on Saturday. 5-6 shakes a day and then sugar free drinks, popsicles, Jello. I have to say that I'm feeling anxious. I think it's finally sinking in....Saturday is the day that my "New Normal" really begins. I realize that I really cannot know what to expect, how it will go, emotions and feelings until I'm there and present in those moments. The only thing I really know NOW is that I have made this comittment to change. That will need to be enough for now along with knowing that I can rely on the peace that surpasses all understanding, and the knowledge that I CAN do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me! Ready....set.....go! Almost to the Land of Oz!!
  8. Good luck!! I start my liquid diet on Saturday. Ready or not here we come!
  9. Praying for the peace that surpasses all understanding....you got this ladies!

    Hair pulling

This is often brought on by stress and anxiety which I can assume are things we will all deal with after a procedure like this! Drastic changes occurring. You may want to talk with your doctor and/ or-therapist about this to get some guidance.

  18. NiaSia: That's what my pre-op diet is as well. Start mine on May 10th with surgery on the 20th. Like you, I'm trying to take it one phase at a time! I'm a planner so this is a little difficult but there is so much to think about that I have forced myself to take it one step at a time and "trust the process". Good luck!!

    Any May sleevers out there?

I'm May 20th! Having my Gallbladder out at the same time. Pre-Op diet starts May 10th so getting my house in order...literally! Spring Cleaning my life; starting with the house! Closet is cleaned out...got rid of ALOT of clothes and can't wait to get rid of the rest as I shrink out of them! Purchased my incentive outfit....cute pair of jeans with bling on the butt (this time people will be looking at my butt because I've got cute jeans on rather than granny jeans lol!) and a cute Vikings t-shirt with some bling as well. I'm going to wear those things at the start of Football season if it kills me lol! Psyching myself up for the pre-op liquid diet...10 days. I GOT THIS! Good luck everyone!!

    Incentive clothing

Bought a pair of jeans with a little bit of butt bling :-) Believe me when I get into those jeans I will be strut tin' my stuff :-)
  23. I started the process at the end of January. I have Healthpartners and had to do 5 phone call appointments with them 2 weeks apart (so that took 10 weeks total), I had the Psych eval, EKG, nutritionist appointments, sleep study. When all of those things were completed they submitted my file to the insurance company. I was approved within a week! Then I met with the surgeon, Dr. Jones (He's with Park Nicollet Methodist/Meadowbrooke) this past Monday and got my surgery date of May 20th! Wednesday, I met with the nutritionist again for the information on the pre-op liquid diet ( 10 days) and then what I can expect after surgery and what the plan is going forward. Pre-op physical is the last step which is next week. I am ready to start the pre-op liquid diet on May 11th. I have called this my Wizard of Oz Journey in other posts. I'm on my way to Oz (sleeve), my "wizard" Dr. Jones is the best doctor in Mpls. St. Paul and has done many of these procedures, I'm keeping eye on those "flying monkeys" (ie. negative thoughts, tempations etc) and am reminded by the "good witch Glenda" (my nutritionist) that I can do this! All "Dorothy" (Me) needs to do is remember to click my heels and repeat, "There's nothing like health and thin, there's nothing like health and thin, there's nothing like health and thin!!" AKA....trust the process! Excited for you! Keep in touch :-)
  24. Saw the surgeon today and got my date! MAY 20th......Here we go!! Almost to "Oz" :-)
