Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Prayers to all who are having the surgery within the next few days! I'm with most of you.....nerves, packing, nerves, cleaning, nerves, drinking shakes, nerves, nerves with a little bit of fear sprinkled in. In spite of it all this IS the right decision for me and I WILL be transformed inside and out! Pep talk complete (funny thing is...I'm a soon to be fully licensed marriage and family therapist ha!!) Head to heart is where it's at! Decision is 99 percent in the heart now so...I can deal with the 1 percent that resides in my head :-) Tuesday....Here I come! See you all on the losers bench!!
  2. Have done really well on preop until tonight :-(. I had the most obvious emotional eating experience after Grad class when some uncomfortable exchanges occurred. I have never been more aware of reaching for food because of anger. I have to look at this as an ah ha moment and not a moment of failure. Hard for us perfectionists. Tomorrow is another day and I now know to be more mindful of my feelings and their correlation with food. May 20 th can't come soon enough!
  3. Hi! I know I've seen this thread somewhere but can't find it now (not even in the nutrition search). Anyway, I'm wondering what you look for in nutritional value for the Greek Yogurts. How many sugars do you try and stay at. I have eaten Chobain in the past but it's extrememly high in sugar. I saw a Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt today at the store. The nutritional value was 80 cal. 0 fat 8gr. carbs 7 sugars and 12 gr. Protein. for a 5.3 ounce cup. What do you all think? Thanks so much!
  4. Good luck Niasia!! A few of us are right behind ya! :-)

For the love of sweet Jesus.....

I have used the search often and come up with "no results found". I don't know....maybe I'm putting in the wrong words. None the less, I approach this forum kind of like any other social media forums (ie. facebook). If I don't want to read it I just move on or remove myself. Really isn't that big of a deal.
  7. Well look at it this way....savor every one of those "sucky" partial food meals because shortly you will be having liquids only :-) I'm thinking my preop is liquid only to get me used to the fact that this is how it will be in a few short days longer. Hang in there and eat one of those yummy things for me! :-)
  8. I would probably pay a thousand bucks right about now for some food!! lol!! I am hungry!!
  9. Hey All! I decided to try something to help me through this pre-op liquid diet. I bought some popsicle forms and poured my protein shake into them and froze them so that i could "chew" something other than popsicles. Mmmm Mmmm good! Chocolate Mocha protein fudgesicle! Loving it!!

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

I'm with you Danielle! I thought I'd be nervous the night before however, I can't seem to think about much of anything but next Tuesday! Trying to keep busy...cleaning cupboards, stocking up on Powerade, cleaning the Fridge, reading and re-reading my binder thinking by doing so I will know EXACTLY how slow to drink or eat knowing full well it will be a trial and error thing ha! Trial and error is ok....as long as it doesn't include vomiting lol! Almost to the land of Oz and then I'll be clicking my heels...theres nothing like health and skinny 3 times until I fit into those size 10 jeans I bought! LETS GO!!!!!
  12. Kelly: I'm glad to hear you're coming along well! I have many of the things in the cupboards that you mention in your post. Here's hoping they work well for me too! I've done my part and am COUNTING on the Lord to do His thing! He's never failed me yet! Rome
  13. Cupcake/MommaD - I'm with you! Ready to get this show on the road! Keeping busy so that I don't chew my arm off during this liquid diet phase :-) Today was cleaning out all the cupboards and fridge and organizing the containers I will use, putting protein shakes, poweders, soups, gatorade away etc. Next Tuesday can't get here quick enough! My nerves are starting to kick in like yours MommaD about drinking and eating after this. Will I go too fast? Will I not chew it thoroughly enough? All of the unknowns that we will learn by trial and error I guess. I just don't want my trial and error to include vomiting lol! Keep in touch all!
  14. I think I inadvertently removed my friends from friends list because you are all suddenly gone! I think I thought I had to approve some of you and clicked on the remove icon! Sorry!!! I'm really not a snob lol! Friend me again if you'd like or I will try to add you again :-)
  15. Doesn't necessarily make a difference however some people for whatever reasons click with different people and choose to converse with them more frequently and go to their friends list to reach them or privately speak with them. Some people have chosen to use this tool on here. If there is no purpose for it I would think it wouldn't be on the forum at all. My post was directed at those who chose to use this feature and had requested me to their friends list. My feeling is that they somehow connected with me. Since my motivation in being here is to support and help and to receive the same, I wanted to make sure they still had access to me through this feature and that I had not removed them purposely.

    Pre-op smeop

I'm here with all of you! Day 3 of preop liquid diet and...cheated on the 10 little tiny oyster crackers that were left in the cupboard. Yep...counted every one of them. Probably not the end of the world however, I realize the importance of not having things in the house for me to go to and keeping myself busy. Nighttime, t.v. time is the worst for me. Have to start creating a new normal.
  18. I will concur with others; this is definately the easy way out! I was not going to tell anyone except my boyfriend. Then I decided that I would tell my parents. I was nervous, thought that they would tell me, "You just need to stop eating the wrong stuff etc" After I told them it was a tool and I needed it to help me stop overeating they understood and have been very supportive. I told them that I wish my sister (who struggles with alcoholism) had a physical tool such as this to give her a headstart. I think they realize that my food addiction is as real as my sisters alcoholism and that I am going to do whatever necessary to abolish it! I say all this to say, don't let fear or shame keep you from sharing your decision. You may be surprised at how supportive they would/will be about your decision. I am glad that I took the risk/chance and shared it with my parents. I know my boyfriend feels better about it too (didn't want to be my only source of support). Whatever you decide, best of luck and congratulations on your decision to become the best you you can be!!
  19. You can get the Torani syrups at most grocery stores (ie. Cub foods, Rainbow, Trader Joes) at least in Minnesota :-)
  20. The sugar free syrups are a great idea to put into plain yogurt and get a bit more protein in...thanks~!
  21. Thanks everyone! I considered all of these. Just nice to know that that's what people are actually eating! Didn't want to sabatoge myself right out of the gate! :-) Sleeve coming May 20th....just getting ready :-)

    Gallbladder removed

My surgeon told me that the percentage of people that lose a large amount of weight usually have their gallbladder out at some point...usually by 6 months after surgery or so. Because the risk is high for this happening, I'm having mine out at the same time as I am sleeved. Kill two birds with one stone having one recovery period. Surgeon said that he foresees in the not too distant future that this will become a part of the procedure because of the high rate of incident of it occuring after the procedure.
  23. I know for me my Nut said that 100% apple and cranberry juice with no added sugar was fine during the first week or so after surgery since I won't be having any real protein per se in the clear liquid phase. She said they want to get some calories in us :-) For me the juices leave when I can introduce protein shakes again. Besides, with the amount we can drink I can't believe I will be consuming too many calories to worry about.
  24. Tomorrow is the start of my 10 day pre-op diet. Protein shakes only (5-6 a day) for first 9 days...10th day Clear liquids only. Pre-Op Exam on Monday. Surgery May 20th. It's really sinking in.....I'm doing this!! I'm ready to get on the otherside of this and start my "new normal" :-) Any last minute words of advice to get through this phase appreciated! Time to GET ER DONE!!!

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Ok.....only day 2 of pre-op diet. Supposed to drink 5-6 Protein shakes and then only sugar free popsicles, Jello, pudding, Water and sugar free drinks. I am already having trouble drinking that many shakes! Good thing I won't have to drink that many post op (hoping that premiere protein shakes with 30 grams protein will do the trick...will only need to drink 2 of them to get in protein!) Other than feeling like I want to chew my arm off it's going great!! Keep going May 20th sleevers WE CAN DO THIS!!!
