    Cough

I have the same thing and am 2 months out. Mine seems to be more of a dry cough. I'm curious too and if it's related to the surgery?

    Self Sabotage

Commit to an all liquid diet like they have you do for pre-op and post op. You will lose those pounds and will then be on your way to a new way of life in the process before surgery. YOU CAN DO THIS!!
  3. Had 2 month appointment with nutritionist...down 40 pounds! Need to get more protein in but other than that all is well! One step and one day at a time wins the prize!

  4. I had healthpartners and went through Park Nicollet. The longest portion is the phone course...every other week. During that time try and get all of your other appointments (Psych, sleep study, nutritionist set up. I would often try and get a couple on one day. I started process end of January (took my seminar info. online course so that I didn't have to wait so long) was sleeved on May 20th. So....I think you will be done before the 6 month mark. Then it's about what works out for you surgery wise, work wise etc. Good luck on starting the process! I am so glad that I didi!

    Can't sing yet!

9 days out.....yep, I was tired after just a little conversation too! Give yourself time! Your body just went through Major surgery and you need to rest and DRINK. Hydrate those chords for sure! :-) I haven't noticed much change in my singing other than I can actually take quicker breathes and fill all the way up and don't feel so exhausted after singing a song lol! More stamina and more room for breath...yeah!!!!

    Can't sing yet!

I'm also a musician (singer/vocal coach) and worried about the same thing. Keep doing deep breathing on a regular basis and even vocal exercises for breath (ie. lip buzz) - that's our exercise too! I don't know how far you are out but I'm six weeks and find it much easier to sing now. Remember it will take some time to build back the stamina but it will happen! For me I think it was a little more paranoia that I wasn't going to sound the same after dropping some weight. Welcome to our "new normal" !
  7. This weather has me in a mood to do nothing!! Bring on Summer already will ya!

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

I'm a bit over 6 weeks out (May 20th includes 9 day preop). I'm down from 251 high to 219 this morning. Clothes are loose, some actually fit now (you know...the ones you're squeezing into and saying they fit :-) and I actually got into a pair of jeans I had bought but never worn. Need to be more diligent with Water for sure and exercise. But...I'll take any loss! Wasn't able to lose this weight on any "diet" lol! Congrats everyone!
  9. Agreed! Can't compare yourself to others :-) I did the same thing (I'm only 5 weeks out) I was getting on the scale WAY too much and getting discouraged. So....once a week weigh ins is what I am trying to do. Secondly, my nutritionist said that I should only give myself max of 30 minutes for each meal. Giving yourself more time may allow you to eat more than you really need to for that meal. I was doing something like you 45-60 minutes and I was able to eat probably more than I should have too. At this point they say 1/4 cup or 4 oz total is what we should be able to eat. Shortening up my meal time has helped me I think. I can tell when I'm full as well. Hang in there! Any weight loss is weight loss! My biggest thing is getting all my liquids in!! need that to help the weight move too. :-)
  10. You said you don't feel like you've lost any weight at all. How much have you lost?

    coffee?

I was told to just see how it settled with my stomach and to not load it up with all kinds of fattening, sugary creamers syrups etc. for calories. Luckily I drink mine black or with a dash of milk.

    Not losing

Seems like a theme early on....body just trying to adjust and retraining it to believe that less calories isn't starvation mode and it can let go of this miserable fat! I've decided the scale is going away as well. Trying once a week. It's that stupid thing that triggered me in the past to just give up. Not going to let it do it to me this time 'round! Hang in there everyone!
  13. PJ......I'm there with you! Not getting protein/water in like I should. I know this has to be a priority of mine as I'm sure I would be feeling a little more energetic than I am after 5 weeks. I also have to SLOW DOWN when I do eat! Tonight....not so good. Too fast and my tummy let me know by bringing it back up :-( Not something I want to happen on a regular basis!

    VSG & Hormones

I am having some issues as well :-( Even got a period (haven't gotten one in almost a year! Thought menopause had hit) I'm only 5 weeks out (down almost 30 pounds :-). Hoping everything settles in soon!!
  15. Just asked my dietician about this today at my appointment. She said it's considered a carbohydrate so it shouldn't be eaten before Protein....the old Protein first then carbs in the form of veg. and fruits after. So, if after I'm finished having my protein I have room for it...eat it :-) I agree with the other poster, it could go down pretty easy and you could consume quite a bit if you eat it alone like a snack. The carb. content in it is pretty high I think. On that note.....I'm off to buy myself some watermelon!

    GERD/Reflux

I'm on Zantac prescribed twice a day for a month. I have found in the last week or so that the reflux rears its head in the evening. Reminds me to take the second pill lol! Milk coats and so I find myself drinking it in the evening. Hope it settles down or I can find something that works a little longer.
  17. Yep! I have yet to get all my Water in AND the idea of gulping a full glass of water down when I'm thirsty is almost as frustrating as wanting to chew some food and not being able to! Gotta get used to this "new normal" :-) Good luck!
  18. One month check up tomorrow. Feels like I've been doing this journey for a year already!

Whew! Hope you get good results.

  19. Doctor gave me oil pad things at last appointment. Took the residue right off.

    Rash on stomach-pics

I had the same thing that actually spread to my entire body :-( Hives of unknown origin is what they diagnosed me with lol! THe doctor said that if you are allergic to something that it doesnt always show up right away. He said it could be reaction to antibiotics they gave in hospital, adhesive from the steri strips, etc. I was told to take benedryl, take cold shower and pat dry (no hot showers...will make you itch worse!) and some cortisone cream. Did the trick and it was gone within 3-4 days.
  21. I am also losing "slow"....or what I think is slow. I finally decided that this weight will come off when it comes off! I am NOT going to be a slave to that stupid scale to give me validation and I am NOT going to have such high expectations that I sabotage myself. It is what it is. THis is a journey in which I have no idea when I will get to the end of the first leg (goal weight). At this point any weight loss is fabulous right? We weren't able to do it before our little friend :-) Keep up the good work!!!

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Honestly, right now I'm not really tracking anything except water. I know as I introduce food I need to track more. The biggest thing for me is to be mindful of when I eat to look at it as a meal....hard to do when it's so little food! I am supposed to have 3 "meals" a day and shakes in between. I haven't been able to have the shakes, thus my protein has been low. If anything I haven't been getting enough calories, protein OR water in. :-( I am glad that this is a learning journey and not a perfect journey. I have my one month appt. on Thursday and hope to get some more advice from the nutritionist.
  23. I'm 4 weeks and have started feeling the same thing! Feels like it's twisting/pulling. I am hoping it's just the internal healing process continuing. Now that the stomach is settling in (swelling going down) maybe we are feeling more of the healing occur.
