Perfectly normal! You are just getting used to ice chips, Water, juice and popsicles...and then only a few sips/bites and doing it just because you have to not because you're hungary! :-) COngratulations! Now the journey begins!

I was feeling pretty down the past week or so. The scale isn't moving, Protein and Water not where they need to be, and still feeling pretty wiped out. I finally decided to go into my closet and try on a few pair of pants I bought but never fit into. And much to my surprise....they fit with no problem!! 2 sizes smaller too! :-) Then I decided to step on the scale and it finally moved! Only a pound but none the less....it moved! I think I am finally realizing that the weight will come off at its own pace and that I have to throw my expectations of how much I should be losing out the window! This is not a sprint!!! It is going to be a lifelong journey. It really doesn't matter how long it takes does it? Slow and steady will win my race. I am ready to embrace this thinking!

I had something similar. I broke out in hives and rash around the incision sites. The doctor said it could be a reaction after the fact from antibiotics in hospital, or something else. They considered it non-specified allergic reaction. Benadryl, cold cloths, hydracortisone cream helps. Took me about 3 days until they were gone. Not fun! Hang in there....this too will pass! :-)

Fatty deposit lumps under skin
rome replied to crazzeescrapper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They are called lypomas...fatty deposits. I've had them all over for years - thin or heavier. I actually had some of them surgically removed because they got so tender. Am Considering having some removed again. Going to wait and see which ones look the biggest and hurt the most lol. I was told they can be somewhat hereditary - my mother has them as well. Harmless, but annoying! -
I was sleeved on May 20th. Since that time I am having a VERY hard time getting enough Protein in. Nothing seems to settle into my stomach very well. Most of the things I'm drinking are the sugar free drinks, Water, and milk....that is where most of my protein and calories are coming from; milk or Soup made with milk. I am probably only at 25-30 grams of protein; need to be at 60. I know that the protein in the beginning is to help with the healing process. Lack of calories could be slowing my weightloss down as well. I'm supposed to start the pureed stage tomorrow. Any suggestions of how to get more protein in would be helpful and appreciated! Thanks!

I was sleeved on May 20th and have good days and bad. We knew it would be a life change but to actually go through it is a whole different story. I haven't been all that great with my significant other and I know that it is hard on him. I just told him to be patient with me and to let me know when I am being a "B". Sometimes I know I am and I just want to be called out on it! So I guess my advice would be to tell her you are doing your best to adjust with her in this journey. WHile you want to support her she needs to know that you will not allow her to verbally lash out at you without you calling her out on it. I know for me when my guy does it I get out of my "pity party" and realize that there are other people who matter besides me and food! Good luck! I'm hoping it gets better for us.....for your sake too :-)

Seems like I've been sleeved forever and yet it was just done May 20th!!! I feel like I should be shedding pounds....I'm down about 16 pounds since surgery plus 9 before so 25. When I write it I guess it isn't too bad. I just think I should see pounds gone everyday! I have to put that scale away! I'm having a really hard time getting the protein in. Seems like the 1 percent milk is all that really likes my tummy. And soup made with milk. I can't get those shakes down. Trying to just sip and get one down during the day. I know I need to start exercising more as well. My perfectionist is coming out for sure. I keep telling myself it's only been 3 weeks but feel like I should have it all down, be running marathons, lifting weights, eating perfectly etc. In reality......I'm kind of in a funk. Tomorrow starts the pureed stage.....trying to find some things to eat. Any suggestions? I can't remember if I can have some fruit or not....like peaches, strawberries? Chese melted?
-
We'll......I now know what it feels like to have either eaten too much or gone too fast...vomiting. Not something I want to have happen again! Now"I'm a little afraid to drink OR eat. I want to get to the place where I don't have to think so much about this whole process. Not even a month out so I have to be patient and mindful....like it or not!
-
I'm with you...feeling a little down. However, I looked at the calendar and realize it has only been 3 weeks since I had major surgery!! Our bodies need time to heal, readjust, along with our mind and expectations. Like you I think I should be losing handfuls daily! This is a journey. We need to trust the process and embrace every pound lost no matter how small. Like some of the posts I've decided to put the scale away. Step on it once a week for awhile. D the scale for me has dictated my success and failure in the past. Not this time! Hang in there we will succeed little by little, day by day!

Curious as to when anyone added cheese into your list of foods. If so what kinds and how did your tummy accept it? I'm craving it right now!

Seems to be a theme going on.....stop weighing daily! I know for me I'm on the scale too much! Have decided to bring my scale to my moms and weigh once a week.

5 days post op weight still there.
rome replied to MOLLSY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with you.....feeling a bit defeated that the wright isn't coming off. I think when I heard the nurse say...oh it's going to start falling off quick....and it hasn't makes me feel like I'm the minority. Just have to hang in there I guess. Keep plugging away! -
5 week early stall BROKEN :)
rome replied to squeaker31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am glad to read this. One of the hardest things for me is not seeing the scale move for almost a week and surgery was May 20. I really have no idea if I'm doing things right or wrong. Just trying to drink , get in some protein at this point. Hope it all settles in so I feel like I'm actually eating separate meals, counting calories etc. right now feel like I'm just hanging on! -
Seriously mourning food :(
rome replied to shahada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am trying to find my groove....not enough food choices or should I say liquid choices. Hard for me to feel like I'm eating a meal. I'm just drinking as often as I can. Not even sure how many calories I'm consuming. Can't be that many but my weight isn't do much. Just kind of holding. I'm hoping a routine of some sort will flush out soon with more choices. Just feel like I'm doing this wrong. Is there a wrong way this early out? Had surgery may 20 th -
Picking a Surgeon or Clinic in Minnesota
rome replied to jjsinmn1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I too would recommend Park Nicollet/Methodist Hospital. They have been nothing but professional, and are a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. I had Dr. Thomas Jones do my surgery. He has been with Park Nicollet since the late 80's and has done numerous bariatric procedures. He has also been voted top Doc in Mpls St. Paul just about every year in a row. His personality is delightful; not stuffy at all! You won't regret a decision to use this team of experts! -
Bariatric Bullies--You know who you are!
rome replied to Time4Kindness's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some people forget that they were right where we are at some point in their journey....it's called the beginning! Somehow some seem to forget that. Remember for every bully there is a nice guy :-). I won't let the bullies silence me so I just disregard them and move on. This is your journey! Don't let anyone silence you and don't run from some great support on here. Maybe seek a few of those people out and friend them. Good luck! -
Prayers! Our God is able!

RJ is right.....stay off the scale! I'm only a week out but had the same thing happen; heavier after I got home. Had my first post op visit today. Nurse said the Fluid, meds etc. should almost be out and the weight should start to come off a bit quicker now. I was (and am still) a chronic get on the scale girl; multiple times a day. That did and still does nothing for me good in the long run. I'm going to take RJ's challenge and stay off of it until my next post op appointment which is June 19th. I'm actually bringing it down to my moms house. I have to get into the mindset that the number and the scale CANNOT define me and that if I stay the course and stay on plan that I WILL LOSE! Trying to make this about a lifestyle change, feeling better and the smaller size being the bonus. Good luck! Stay the course and Trust the Process!

Did anyone get in all of their fluids and protein the first week?
rome replied to ChavaBling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DIdn't come close to getting all the liquids in; maybe 24 ounces. No protein shakes or other for me. I had my first post op today. I have to double the amount of liquids...minimum! Will go to full liquids tomorrow for 2 weeks. I'm hoping adding in the protein shakes, soups, yogurt will help. Just give me ANYTHING with some texture! -
Thanks WIllow. So far no redness or oozing. I knew it would be sore because my stomach AND gallbladder were taken out through that hole. Just didn't anticipate this pain! BUt....each day is getting better PTL.

CUpcake: I have been able to walk a bit more and it seems to be doing better. All I know is that I really am hungry! I thought my hunger was supposed to be diminished lol! I really don't think it's the head hunger thing. All I know is that I can hardly wait to get on the full liquids...a little pudding would even feel substantial at this point!

With regards to incisions......the largest one if VERY painful! Feels like my stomach is twisting, makes it hard to walk or sit. Trying not to take pain meds. Only 4 days out. Any thoughts on this?
-
These suggestions helped me as well! Today I think I drank a little too much too soon. I have felt pressure in my upper quadrent and chest. Hiccups, burps. Don't know if I have to let that feeling pass before I begin to sip again? Any suggestions? How much time in between do you rest before drinking again. Perhaps I've just been sipping all day without any real purposefulness....does that makes sense?

Any May 20th surgeries out there?
rome replied to teemarie1078's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved yesterday....1 st day post op. For me more of a pressure and achy feeling all over with the exception for the larger incision site which is what kills. No real nausea which is what I was most afraid of. Swallow test this morning looked good. So if all goes as planned I will be going home tomorrow. :-) -
