Kristin: Congratulations. I know how you feel. On surgery day I weighed 287, and now I'm at 209. I was wearing 26/28's last April and now 18's. Can't wait for 16's, 14's, and 12's. Congratulations on your 30 pound loss. I'm almost 11 months post op and if I try to stretch too far or bend too fast my port area is slightly bothered, but hardly at all. You are probably not fully healed yet. Sue

Joe: I used to have pain and numbness in my left upper leg. However, I had it before surgery. After I lost about 60 pounds it went away. It could be that you're walking funny and positioning your body different because you're protecting your sore tummy. If you're still concerned about it, please go and visit your doctor to get piece of mind. I hope it resolves itself soon. Take care. Sue

Bridgette: You might want to speak with the insurance coordinator at the surgeon's office that you're planning to use. I have BCBS of MA and the insurance process went smoothly, but my bmi was 50, so I don't think they cause too many hiccups when someone's bmi is so high. Good luck. Sue

Lee: I noticed that you had gall bladder surgery. I'm scheduled to get gall bladder removed in April. Any suggestions for someone who already has a band and is now getting gall bladder out? Had no complications with band surgery except nausea. I'm guessing there's no way to avoid that with the anesthesia. Band surgery was very easy recovery. How does the laproscopic gall bladder removal compare to band surgery? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sue

chl: You might notice that you have an issue with energy the first few weeks after surgery. I'm pretty sure that it has to do with your body sending alot of energy to the healing parts and ignoring the rest of you. It comes back after about a month or so. I have more energy now than I've had in 20 years! Yippee! Sue

sweetviolet: Too funny one of your goals is to get dressed from the thrift shop. I live in MA and last year they opened a new Salvation Army Store in my town. I'm hooked on it. Last weekend I got a new sweater - maroon and nice - only a size L (yes, no X), and it was only $1.99. I look forward to going each Saturday to pick up new bargains. I've already bought things in size 20, 18, 16, 14, and 12. Right now I can wear the 20's and 18's. Can't wait to wear the 16's, but I'm probably a month away from that. I've already bought three new winter coats and each of them was less than $5.00 each. Each week I go to that store with only $20 and always walk out with at least 5 things, usually more. My Daughter cracks up when I come home with bags full. Enjoy the shopping and the weight loss. I know that I do. Sue

Hi all! I'm very excited to say I weighed 209 this morning:thumbup:. Some of you are like, eewwww why is she so excited. I'm excited because I started this journey last April 23rd and I weighed 324. So, I'm down 115 pounds in just under 11 months. I'm hoping to be able to say I'm in Onederland by April 23rd. See you in Onederland next month. Gotta go walk off dinner. Sue

Dave: How's the trykke going? I'm gonna have to get my gall bladder out soon, but as soon as I'm done saving for that copay ($500) I'll start saving for trykke. Still hoping to get a trykke by June when the Cape Cod Canal is a great place to exercise. Wish me luck! Sue

Haze24: I noticed a very different situation in the bathroom once I was banded and it continues today. In the old days when I ate way too much I would have a bm every day, sometimes more than once per day. Now I go only once or twice a week. I'm guessing it's an issue of volume. I don't get belly aches very often so I don't worry about it. If it's more than a week I take a mild stool softener to get things moving along. Good luck. Sue

I had to pay $500 overnight at hospital fee. In addition, I had to pay $175 for psych appointment. Now that I'm banded I have monthly consults with surgeon. If I get a fill there is no copay. If I don't get a fill then I pay $20 copay for the visits. Sue

Hi Lenore: Welcome to a fellow Bay Stater. I was banded last July and I have to say that it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. It's been relatively easy for me with few problems. However, recently I found out I have gall stones so I'll have to have my gall bladder removed soon. It's not an emergency at this point, so I'm trying to put it off until I can laze by the pool to recuperate. Fingers crossed. As far as the lap band goes, it's a relatively easy surgery. I believe that exercise is a "must" if you want to succeed. I certainly couldn't have lost 114 pounds without walking my butt off. Getting used to eating less is much easier once you have restriction. Until then it's more of an attitude adjustment to succeed prior to gaining restriction. You have to have your mind ready and act accordingly and then your body follows. Any questions, feel free to throw them my way. Although I've only been banded since July I consider myself to be experienced at this point. Welcome and best wishes for your success. christall: I think that it's important to think about it in much smaller increments. I like to think about it one pound at a time and then it doesn't get so overwhelming. I also give myself rewards along the way. Exercise is important too. It doesn't have to be going to the gym. Just get outside and walk. I really like walking now. Max: pb means "productive" burp. It's not quite puking because the food hasn't gone all the way down. It's kind of like regurgitating. It's when my belly cop (band) is doing it's job and sending things back if it has too much. However, it's been sending back food and I haven't overeaten. Sue

Hi: I've been banded since July, have recently been having a bit of gurgling going on and have pb'd more than usual. It's been about two months since last fill and gurgling just started this week. Have lost about 20 pounds since last fill, so band shouldn't be getting tighter. Is gurgling a sign of being too tight? What's up with this gurgling thing? Anybody else? Sue
