  1. Well i never thouhgt i was bulemic either... you might be surpised to find you indeed are bulemic. Hate to say that but if you do a lil research you will learn that your behavior (which is just like mine) seems to actually be bulemia. IF you did this behavior a few times in a month.. i think you would find docs to say it is bulemia. Good luck with controlling your issue.

  2. Thanks for the replies folks.. I actually do think i might have been the first patient to actually tell her the truth about this type of issue..I actually thought early that there was no way she wouldnt clear me seeing how she worked right in the centers office for them. I am quite thrilled that she did what she did now. I am going to get the counseling i need and who knows.. maybe if i get those issues worked out.. i wont need the banding at all... we all know ultimately its our heads that have to change anyways... I have done a lil online research since my phone call from the psych.. i think i never really felt i WAS bulimic but after all my reading..... it looks to be the case.. Ill let ya all know how it all works out if you are interested. In the mean time im going to get back to the nutrition and plenty 'o' exercise routine again ) BTW.. i have also found out i do indeed have sleep apnea as well.. going for another sleep study tomorrow so they can try some CPAP...

  3. I do understand this is for the better. I have habitually done it in the past..so i guess it "could"e an issue after banding. I could sit here and say that I would never do it again.. and hopefully i wouldnt.... but if i did???? I was told by the shrink that she was told this type of behavior could damage my stomach BADLY after being banded.. Its just a lil tough today to deal with this needed setback. How uncommom do you think this type of problem is with chronic overweight people?

  4. Well i was crushed today by the phone call from the pre-op psysch eval. I decided to tell the truth when asked if i had any history of purging. I have in the past had issues with it and felt that it might be important to tell the truth on this issue. The psych called me today to say that they would need me to seek further counseling on this subject before they could clear me. I guess i do indeed see their point on this as this type of behavior might be very harmful to someone banded. Oh well... guess my procedure wil be postponed for a while... All for the best i guess.. :(

  5. My insurance provider (Humana) had this same requirement. I decided to just self pay as opposed to jumping through 6 months of hoops with the potential to be denied later. I am borderline BMI which is why i think i would have a harder time even after 6 months... besides... 25 years of my life is enough documentation for me..I understand self pay is not an option for some people so i hope you get what you need from your Docs...Good Luck!

  6. Hiya folks.. I have a question perhaps someone can answer. Im going to be self pay for the band. Assuming a negative for a second and i need any procedures for a complication like slippage or someting else that would require them to "go back in", would my health insurance typically pay for such a procedure?

  7. Hiya folks... new to the forum and thought i would say hello. I have not yet had the band.. im in the beginning stages of the process. Im going to be a self pay since i have NO desire to deal with my insurance co. Im a lower BMI at 35ish but have lost and gained so much in my lifetime with arthritis and hypertension for many years that i decided to try this "tool". Its been a real tough decision for me. I kept feeling like the ultimate failure that i had to resort to surgery to lose weight. Im over that now and im doing it. I had considered the RNY but think that is far to invasive for me. I am curious though about recovery. I am a firefighter/paramedic and was wondering what the typical complete recovery times might be? Im sure all are different but maybe some guesses. Anyways.. wanted to say hi and hopefully this will be a relatively speedy process with self pay..im SO READY to get it done and move on with a new eating lifestyle..
