    Stomach rumbling

Hmm.. I did not make the connection until I read this. I am a little over 3 months post op and my tummy is very noisy all of a sudden for the last couple of days. I have also lost 3 pounds in last 4 days. That is a lot faster for me. My rate of loss had been slow so far.
  2. I drink the SF chocolate w/skim milk 3-4 nights a week. It satisfies my sweet tooth and not as bad a I could be doing with any other sweets that I crave. The cold milk does wonders to satisfy my cravings. No impact on the rate of weight loss for me and I have seen that if I control my carbs in other meals, I can indulge in this one thing. Sometimes I also add unjury unflavored Protein powder if I am low on protein for the day. The texture gets a bit chalky but nothing I can't handle.
  3. I lost about 15 pounds in 2 weeks. That is the exact diet my doctor put me on too minus the vegetables. Wt. loss is different for everyone though. You may lose more or less. I have not used Bariatric fusion but as for flavor, I thought the unflavored one worked the best as I could add my own flavors. I was allowed to add frozen berries to my shakes. My doc did not allow any tea or coffee. Good luck!
  4. Kudos for sticking to the plan! Keep it up!

Fat, Carbs and Proteins Oh My!

I am tracking everything and doing the fitbit and other exercise tracking, just like macman. I measure and weigh everything right now. This works for me! I found that I work better if I hold myself accountable. If that changes down the road, we will see. I am found that each one of us has to find what works for us. Good luck!
  6. I used the cocktail straws. They are smaller and suck in less air. I used them to drink my Water in the early stages after my surgery.

    "My special food"

I am with you! I measure my food carefully and want to eat every bit of it. My kids and hubby are forbidden to eat off of my plate! They got yelled at a few times and now they think twice before getting into anything that I eat without asking me first!
  12. Seeing my 75 year old dad struggling with food obsession that has gotten worse over years. That's all he can think about all the time. He is just like any other drug addict. Doesn't care about anyone or anything as long as his addiction is taken care of. I could see myself in him a few years from now. Taking a 15 hour international flight on a window seat, I was spilling over into the next seat. The co-passenger gave me dirty looks the entire time. I did not even go to the bathroom for 15 hours because getting out and back in was very hard and would have been very embarrassing. I was scared of getting a blood clot. My legs went numb and were hurting. When she went to the bathroom a couple of times, I quickly got up to relieve my achy & numb legs. And I cried silently the entire way. Was hovering on the fence before this experience but by the time that plane landed, I was determined to change my life!
  13. Listen to what everyone else just said. You are taking a great risk. Throw all the bad food away. And start again from the next bite. Try to remember the behavior that got you where you are and the reasons you had this surgery. Be kind to yourself!
  14. Being nervous is natural! It would be strange if you were not nervous! One piece of advice: Follow post-op diet and advice to the T. No use messing with such a major surgery! And one more piece of advice: When in doubt, ask questions. Don't hesitate in calling your doctor about medical stuff and for everything else, post here. I find that what I am going through and feeling, someone has already gone through! Good luck! Keep us posted!

    Vitamins

Bariatic Advantage launched a new Vitamin called Ultra Multi Formula with Iron It has everything except the required Calcium. I just added 2 calcium chews a day. These are easy to swallow capsules and not big like the other horse pill Vitamins. I don't mind the price either. I take it 3 times a day. The bottle has 270 capsules for $49.95. That's a 90 day supply! My doc office found out about it and recommended it. I love the ease of taking it! Go to their website and check it out. 16. I am stalled after I started weight training and working with a trainer. I had heard of that before but never experienced it. Weight is stuck at 215-216 for the last 2 weeks. Anyone else experience this? Very discouraging.

    Stalled after starting weight training

Thanks for the support! It helps immensely to hear all the suggestions and to know that I am not the only one facing this issue. I have started paying more attention to the change in how my clothes fit. They seem to be getting loser! And I will know if I lost any inches in a couple of days since my trainer recorded that info a month ago. Also, I asked my daughter to hide the scale and not give it back even if I beg for it! lol. Hardest thing I have done! Driving me crazy but I know it is for the best! That scale can play mind games! Working on upping my calories on gym days. Also started C25K training. Cardio should help too! No stone left unturned! Let's hope it pays off! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

    Why hide it?

This was the hardest decision of my life. I had many doubts and still have some everyday. And that is after all the research and support from wonderful resources like this website. Why combine that with the doubts of other people, especially the ones that are ignorant and do not know their facts? And I wanted to concentrate on my health and wellbeing and not on educating anyone who may never understand! Those were my reasons!
  19. Congratulations & Kudos for standing up for your rights! Good luck!
  20. Followed it to the T. No use messing with such a big surgery! The post-op diet is designed to help aid the healing among other things.

    Day 4 Post-op Need Help...

Hang in there! It does get better! Agree with Wynnie. Your medical team can give you the best advice. Concentrate on getting in your fluids. Drink, drink, drink! I have been taking prescription acid reflux meds since right after surgery. Supposed to take it for at least one more month. According to my doctor, it helps with healing since you don't want acid to irritate the already irritated stomach lining. So, yeah, ask about Prilosec. Good luck!

    Secret Surgery

I did not tell anyone. The only people who know are the ones I live with, i.e., my husband and 2 daughters. Aside from that, my Mom knows who I am very close to and I knew would support me. I intentionally kept it quiet. I did not want to have to defend and explain my decision. I also did not care to be under a radar and be judged. The decision is yours and very personal. Also, depends on your support system. For me, it was cultural. I come from a culture where people like me are called "fat" to their face and are asked, "Why can't you exercise self control?" I did not want to waste my energy trying to educate the ignorant in my life. Whatever decision you make, Good Luck!
  23. Hello all. Last couple of times I have felt extremely dizzy while working out with my trainer. My trainer who is also a certified nutritionist, does not know about my VSG. All he knows is that I am following a strict diet regimen for weight loss. When I got dizzy during my last session, he suggested that I take some form of complex carb an hour prior to the workout. I burn around 500-600 calories(per my polar monitor) in the half hour I work with him. He is suggesting a shake with fruit in it or some vegetables/whole grains. Anyone else ever have this issue? Suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  24. got it! I will eat around 4-4:30 pm. My session is at 6.
  25. Thank you for all the great suggestions! I think I am burning more calories right now only because my heart works harder due to years of inactivity. Once it gets stronger, things will get better. I also like the food suggestions. I will try one today before my session. As far telling the trainer about my surgery, once I am more comfortable with him in a few weeks, I plan on telling him. Thanks again! Will keep you posted about how the workout goes today.
