Could it be worry? It takes a lot of guts to go through elective surgery wether you pay or your insurance pays. Today I went through 6 procedures and 4 appointments starting at 7:00a.m. and ending at 4:00p.m. I have about five more appointments scheduled. It is not fun!!! It is something I want, a lot! Sounds like your hubby might be just the tiniest bit insecure about you losing weight. After all, you might just become attractive to other men.... something he really hasn't worried about in the past. Be proud of you , for you! That is the real reason you are doing this. You have done a great job! I hope when is it my band time that I can do as well.

Welcome!! Lots of us our waiting for that date. Making all those appointments was a trip, and I can just imagine keeping all of them.... sigh -
To all you Just A Mom! You are doing a very important job out there. When I was little, 95% of women were Just A Mom. Life was sure different. I applaud all the Moms , home or working that make their children a prioirty. I can spot those kids in a minute in my classroom, Special bless to the lady who is a special ed. aide. My grandson, Ryan, 9, has muscualar dystrophy, (Friedrich's Ataxia) ((Awareness day, May 21, ))) has an aide that is like his legs, arms and heart. Also, another bless for your own child who needs you so much. They do teach us, don't they?

I am an elementary school teacher, grade 5, whose children notice every minute change, ie, nailpolish hair color, new shoes....... can't wait to be banded to see if they notice that!!!

Hey, Met with Dr. Deol today, great lady, answered all my questions, told me I was lucky to have Messa insurance, easy approval and all! I have about seven appointments to make asap! Tomorrow I will be on the phone a lot, then the next few weeks will be appointment city! In between that, I will work, go to camp for five days with my school kids, and get through all this @#$%@ appointments! Gotta keep sight of the goal!

I am having my first consultation on May 11, 2005 I an happy, nervous , scared, anxious etc. How long does the process take before you actually get to surgery? I am from Michigan, I have been fat all of my adult life, the last time I weighed a normal weight was in high school. I have a grandson, 8 1/2 who has muscular dystrophy (Friedrich's Ataxia) which will cripple him to a wheelchair by junior high. He will need lots of care and it is important to me to be healthy so I can help with him. My biggest new learning will be how to be thin. I have never been thin, so I don't know how it is.

My Lap band will be insurance paid. My heart doc is all for it, which kind of surprised me. I do not have a heart problem, but started going to him at 48 because my Dad dropped dead at 49 with plaque in the artieries, unknown to any of us. My heart doc has been perscribing diet ever since, and when I questioned him about wls, I thought he would be opposed. Lap band seemed a lot more sensible to me, it works slower, but it will provide me with the impetus I need to get going. Thanks for all the encouragement, and the knowledge that some of you went through it fairly smoothly. Now I am getting excited.
