I hope that i don't have to wait 6 months.

Cher40rie, did you peek in my house window ? I too have many of your symptoms. I went to the seminar in February and my first appt the end of it. I have seen Marie and Kristin monthly since . Oh I'm so excited to meet someone near me. Have you gone to any of the monthly life mtgs? If you do, perhaps we can meet up. I am ready for this life change and I am doing it to live, getting skinny is just an added bonus. Did you have the psyche eval yet? And also, the dietician workshop? Basically, is all your homework that he gave you on the sheet complete?

I went to school in Utica to St. E's.. Do you have family support after the procedure?i didn't tell to many people. Just my kids, mom, BF and a Few dear friends. Maybe

We can be done the same day.

    Sorry for rambling...

  2. I'm June 9th Zelda -- I've got a cariologist appointment to go and then the pre-surgery with the surgeon and we'll be good to go! I'm really excited about it now but getting a little bored with the waiting!

Ginger snaps: we can compare now with each other. It's less then six weeks. I have started eating smaller, walking more, no straws. I went and bought a special drinking glass without a straw. I still want to get a small dish and silverware for me to use too. I haven't told many people for fear of being judged. Important people know though.

Do you have to be on a special diet for two weeks prior? I don't think I do with m surgeon. I'm in Central, NY. Where are you from? I have no one that is going through this with me.. I hoe you don't mind me tagging along. I'm scared but so excited to start a new life.. You are having a sleeve as well?

  3. Patty, I met Simon once ..lol as a patient. I know him as a nurse. I got to see him in February. Graber wasn't going to be until April. I figured , I was that much closer. I see his office people every month. He said 2-3 days in the hospital. We have monthly, lifetime support mtg, given by patients. This last weeks one really helped me figure out if I wanted the sleeve vs the Roux NY. I'm scared as heck... But I want my life back .

  4. Drummer girl, I'm sure you will be all set. Your doctor seems to feel it medically necessary so insurance should approve. I am the day before you. 2-3 days in the hospital then home to start life all over. My area has monthly support groups that help us out as well. They are given by other patients and offer so much support. I have last 8 lbs so far.

  5. Hello Majique, I jus got a surgery date yesterday. Saw the surgeon the end if February. I have some support but not telling many people in few of judgement. I'm going to a center of excellence and get have life time support groups. I would be happy to share with you as we both start this journey of living. Where are you located? I'm in Central NY.

  6. Hello , I am a 32 yr RN. Have not worked in a few yrs due to a work related injury, I was a telemetry nurse and an ER nurse. I love reading all the comments here and look forward to more encouragement from this group. I have a surgery date for June 9. I started with my first visit to the surgeon the end of February. I have lost 8 lbs since March. I had the mandatory psych eval, dietician consult, and monthly updates. I started taking pictures and will get measurements this week. Next step us to get a binder and add the photos My area has weekly informal support groups for pre and post op people. They are a great source of info. One lady was 14 days post op and down 14 #s after rouxNY a man was sleeved 15 days ago and down 15#s. I am gong for a sleeve after hearing these peoples comments.

One big issue that came up was ,, umm umm... Gas! I guess it's lessened after a sleeve. One person suggested Fish oil with Omega 3 three times a day. She said It really helps. We were told to really follow the eating "rules" early since that is when you loose the most weight. You can slack off after 12 months if you really need to. But by the time, I think I will be used to eating "small" so why ruin it , right?

Any one have other suggestions? And nice to meet everyone!

  7. Hello, I am just waiting for a date as of today. I went to the psych consult and she told me there was no right or wrong answers . She said she can fix manic depression and other psych problems. She wanted to be sure I was prepared for my life afterwards. We talked about my support after the surgery then I had a t/f questioners and 1-5 type questions. Just be honest and I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck.

  8. Michelle-Rose, I am in Central NY... Hoping to have a date in mid May. Lost 6 pounds so far. Since the weather is nicer I can walk outside again. I am going to center f Excellence so I have that in favor. Scared .. Oh yeah.. But I need my life back and can't take this yo yoing stuff any more. I go to surgeon again on Thursday this week.
