Douglasville. 2 weeks post op
Great! Another guy. I like your username.
We had surgery a few days apart. How are you doing and what type of post op diet are you on? I went straight to puréed and if all goes well I will get to go to soft foods in about a week and a half.

Northwest GA, had my surgery on 1/22/2014. Not nearly as bad as I was anticipating. Reading on the internet is one of the worst things I have found to do. I haven't had any of the problems/issues I have read about.
Recovery has been smooth, and if I didn't have heavy lifting at work I would be back already.

That is great Larry! I am a couple of weeks behind you. Is that just from surgery/diet so far?
Are you doing any cardio yet?
Thanks for the inspiration,
Paul

I'm not with TX, but am with BCBS. It was very easy and uneventful getting approved. My approval letter actually came a couple of days before my date.
My team saw no problem with it and had dealt with them before.

I am on day 10 of the pre op an I am so tired! Is that normal? A little down in the dumps too. Only3 more days to go!
Any words of wisdom out there?
That was my experience also. Fatigue and grumpiness.

All I got was shakes for two weeks. They did allow four "meal tickets", but I only used one and it was disappointing.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Dr. Scott did my surgery too! I'm in Rockmart, GA. I was sleeved on 7/17/2013.
That is great to hear Deena! It's only been five days for me but I am feeling pretty good. Any suggestions getting through this month?
-
Are there any guys in the Atlanta area that were sleeved?
I am in Adairsville (exit 306 on I75). Dr Scott did my sleeve surgery at Floyd hospital on 1/22/2014.

14 days and counting. liquid diet here I come.
Dreaming a lot lately. Am I the only one?
Oh yeah! The shakes were not that bad with all the other stuff on my mind......
I got Choc and strawberry, was never hungry on them, they taste ok actually, I was only able to drink 5 on one day (I drank 4 a day and was NOT hungry), they are foamy really foamy put a bit of Water to replace some of the skim milk to make it easier to drink.
Those recommendations came from Dr Scott's office.
You will do great Tia, I trust the folks that are taking care of you entirely, heck I even trust them with my life.......and I did. I was treated so well throughout the whole process at Floyd from admitting to discharge. I was apprehensive having worked in a hospital for twelve years (16 years ago) and had never been "put under". My experience exceeded all of my expectations.
Don't worry, those folks are pros!
Holler if ya need anything.

I bought three favors of the Bariatric Advantage chews. Caramel, Lemon and chocolate Peanutbutter.
I actually like the lemon and caramel. I have an almost whole bag of the choc pb to get rid of. That is the only one I didn't like.
I also have the BA preop chewable Vitamins. Don't care for the flavor. I will be looking into other Multivitamins when I use these up.

You just put a big smile on my face. I have had a great experience with Dr. Scott and his staff thus far, but this is my life. It helps to here a successful ending from someone who had surgery with Dr. Scott.
Thank you for this awesome feeling. How is post opt? Do you attend the support groups? Do you have a weight loss buddy?
Postoperative kinda sucks, but the medications make it bearable.
I haven't been to the support group yet.
Don't have a weight loss buddy yet either.
I am in Adairsville.

2/10 is my date. Pre opt diet starts on the 28th. Scared and excited all in one. Surgery with Dr. Scott in Rome GA
Dr Scott did my sleeve on Jan 22. Everyone at Floyd treated me really well.
The shakes taste good, but I never want to see a chocolate or strawberry shake again!
I went home the afternoon on the day after surgery.

I work in a steel mill. It is the most brutal, crude group of people you can find in one place. "Normal" people would not work there. I have not hidden anything from them. I have also had reactions to my decision run the gamut of any and all possibilities.
That's OK. This is for me and my family. At least I know there won't be any surprises when I go back to work.
But then again, I work in a steel mill, "normal" people wouldn't work there!

Sorry can't help with that, my only swallowing issue was sore throat from vent.
