  1. My surgeons office actually suggests joining a support group, whether its there at their office, or on one of these WLS website/forums. They think the more information you can get the better, and I couldn't agree more!! I think if you find these sites, helpful, informative, supportive and fun to converse with others going through the same thing as you - then stick with it. Best of luck to you!!
  2. ONE week!!!! ONE week!!!! :)

@Zoey716 I have read people use Almond milk as well. I have never tried it. Thank you! Jackie did say that with IHA they are usually pretty quick!!! Fingers crossed! 3 days is awesome!! Definately cuts back on the anxiety of waiting. Do you think that you will be able to make it to the class on the 24th? Thank you so much for answering my questions. it is so nice to have someone that goes to the same place. :)

@alxmak1021 - I am going to try my best to be at the meeting. I'll be 10 days out, so I don't think I'll have a problem going. :) I have heard a lot of people like using almond milk. I'm allergic to it, so its a no go for me. lol. The blender really is the best way to make it though. A world of difference than just using a shaker bottle! I'll be praying for you that you hear back quickly! I called IHA a day after they submitted for authorization just to make sure it was received and if they were missing any info. Turned out they were missing one form, so I called Jackie and she sent it to IHA. I then followed up again with IHA a couple days later and got the approval & authorization #'s. It took Synergy longer to get back to me with the date, but if they know you on a time crunch hopefully they would schedule you quickly! Definitely call and follow up with them! And I agree, it is nice to meet people going through the same experiences especially through the same surgical group!!

  8. That's awesome!! Congrats to you!!
  9. Squeal! I know! I'm still excited, but I'm prepared for that "omg what i am doing" feeling to creep up. I am doing so well on the pre-op. I think I'm able to stick to it better than my other attempts because I know that it's gone for good. My pre-op diet is no carbs, no sugar and lean Protein. I've gotten very sick on Atkins before so my nut. ok'd some carbs. I've lost 9.5 pounds in 7 days. I bought a new battery for my scale yesterday because I was worried something was wrong with it! lol How is your pre-op going? What type of pre-op do you have to do? You only have 11 days left! @@Fat2FiveK - Haha! I am getting really excited! I don't have to start my diet until tomorrow. My surgeon requires a 10 day pre-op diet. It consists of 3-4 Protein shakes (with a brand that they approve ), atleast 64oz of Fluid - Water, crystal light, broth, sugar free Popsicle, sugar free Jello, and 1/2 cup of non starchy vegetables. I have been doing a modified version of this for the past couple of days - a shake for Breakfast, a Light and Fit Greek yogurt and 1 cup of non starchy veg, and then a reasonable dinner. Since Monday, I am down 5lbs! Can't wait to see what I am able to achieve on the full pre-op diet! GREAT JOB!! 9.5lbs in 7 days!! That's SO fantastic!! Just think of how great you're going to feel when even more comes off!! Did you have to do a 6 month pre-op? @Erin414 - Welcome!! We can all be buddies!
  10. Hi there. How exciting!! You only have 6 days left!! How is your pre-op diet going? I'm being sleeved on April 14th! I will gladly be your buddy!
  11. Pre-op class today was great! I feel very prepared! 12 days to go! :)

      Zoey716

Yup! The pre-op class goes over nutrition - pre-op and post-op, including all the phases and when to introduce/move on. They also review exercise and what to do when. All the classes and information sessions at Synergy are really great and helpful!

The class was very informational tonight. I don't know why but a little nervous about food journaling. Although it will hold me accountable for my actions! One question that I have is have any of you ladies had to do any pulmonary testing? My doctor sent in the letter stating I don't have any cardiac problems and it did not include pulmonary. When I called the doctor and spoke to the secretary she seemed a little put out at that she had to write another letter.. i did get an EKG done. Am I missing another test? This is the only thing holding it up.

    April 14th!

Hi group!! I see I am amongst many April 14th sleevers!! Glad to see so many of us are on the same date! I was scheduled for surgery this past Monday, so I was a bit surprised that I have less than 3 weeks to go! I am supposed to start my pre-op diet next Friday, although I may start it a couple days early. Is it odd that I'm more nervous for the pre-op diet than I am for the actual surgery?! Happy Friday!
  17. Not nervous for surgery - but a bit anxious for the pre-op diet! Weird - right?

    1. Zoey716

      Zoey716

i think im just building up anxiety for no reason. lol. I've tried all the different flavors of the fusion shakes. and i really don't care for any of them. vanilla was the best (not great but not as bad as the others). i'm going to look into some others this weekend and talk to synergy about it on wed. when i go for my pre-op class. hopefully they will let me atleast alternate between fusion and another brand. what about you?

    2. alxmak1021

      alxmak1021

I have been reading up on the Premier brand. I went yesterday for my first appt with Dr. Caravetta. I asked the Pharmicist and he told me they recommend the fusion because it has everything we need it. He made it sound that anyone was okay as long as it was comparable. He did mention that you have to be careful, some shakes have a higher saturated fat than others. I did look on the internet for both shakes nutritional values. I have yet to compare them. A co-worker of mine did go to the store and bought SF syrups to add to them. She said it made a world of a differnce.

      butterflypinup

I have tried so many protein shakes and they were all nasty until I tried the Premier Chocolate one. I didnt shake it up good enough so it was a bit lumpy but when i did it was actually really good. Kind of thick consistancy as of you put a banana in one but really good. I have a vanilla one to try today. We shall see but the best so far. 30G Protein 160 calories 1gram sugar 3 g fat for 11 oz. Pretty good. You can get them at costco!
