    Still too tight ...I think???

I only have 4.5 in my 10 cc band, but I refuse to get too tight too quick for those EXACT SAME REASONS of yours (not being able to eat solids, re-gurgitating). IMHO, I would MOST definitely have more removed until you can eat solid food. The doctor doesn't have a band. You are following the rules to perfection. good luck
  2. it DEFINITELY will get better for you, hang in there! That sucks you had to experience post-surgery nausea. I was really scared about that but they gave me a shot just before putting me under anesthesia and told me it was anti-nausea medication to prevent getting sick afterwards. Everyday you will be feeling better!! Don't get frustrated if you don't have decent restriction when you start eating solids. I have noticed on this site that MANY people have to get multiple fills before getting good restriction. in the long run, i believe its still better, safer and HEALTHIER than bypass. I LOVE MY BAND! 278/231/180:rolleyes2:

Is it possible to be at the sweet spot with just 1 fill ?

You are doing AWESOME!! I had to get 4 fills before I felt ANY restriction. If you are having decent restriction and losing weight, you won't need a fill. I am scared to be too tight and have food STUCK all the time. Also, it can be a bit painful. Be GLAD you are one of the lucky ones that didn't need many fills. You will lose weight sooner than most of us. KEEP IT UP!!
  4. My gas pains lasted for two weeks. I had the SHARPEST pain inside my left shoulder. It felt like i was being stabbed with a knife. I used gas-x and it helped a little, but mostly I was told to MOVE. The more you walk, the better. WALK WALK WALK ,, the more you move, the better. Even little frequent trips around your home. Hope it goes away fast for you!!! 278/232/180

IMHO The hardest part of being banded.

OH yeah, NOT drinking is super hard. I probably accomplish that only 30% of the time.. One thing i miss so much is carbonation.. coke, diet coke, 7up, i miss it. I know its a pretty small sacrifice considering, but i still fantasize about it. hah. 287/232/180

    Bandster Hell

As far as restriction goes, it's an individual experience. I did not feel ANY restriction until my 4th fill. My doctor told me to NOT WAIT a whole month until the next fill, if it wasn't working.. Make another appointment right away. Find out what your Doctor's policy is on how SOON is Ok for YOU. CALL THEM! GOOD LUCK! =) 278/232/180

    Magic Number Of Cc's

Hang in there. It took me 4 fills to feel restriction. I am at 4.5 cc's in a 10cc band. After the first 15 lbs lost from liquids immediately following surgery, I only lost 2-3 lbs a MONTH. That was frustrating, but now it's gotten much better. I am averaging 5-6 lbs a month. OF COURSE everyone is going to be different.... GOOD LUCK! 278/233/180

    NEW from Oklahoma

I am confused why you are 70 lbs overweight if you are strictly eating only 1200 calories a day?? That is a little confusing to me. Is it possible you have a thyroid problem?? My biggest reason for getting the band is because I am an OVER-eater. The band is a really REALLY good tool for me. It's definitely not for everyone so don't be discouraged if you choose not to do it. You will find the RIGHT thing for yourself. BEST OF LUCK... pre-surgery 278 lbs current 233 goal 180

    I got my band!!

AWESOME! WTG! =) Isn't it crazy how our liver can get so big and then shrink back down? I find that amazing. Good luck on your liquids/mushie stage. YOU are important and WORTH IT! 278/233/180

    Port area pain after fill?

4 attempts and lots of poking and prodding would make anyone sore! I am so sorry your first fill went like that. It will probably be sore for a couple days, but if it starts turning red or hurts MORE, call your doctor immediately. I have had GOOD fills and BAD fills. Some nurses are really good at it and others are just suck. Ask for a different nurse next time! Don't be shy about that at all. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY !! 278/234/180
  11. I think it is PERFECTLy normal to feel nervous because of the "surgery" part but if you are unsure about getting a BAND, maybe you should re-schedule until you are 100% positive. I apologize if that sounds negative, but I would never go through this unless I researched it A LOT and was TOTALLY ready. I was 100% LAP BAND READY because I didn't want to lose weight so rapidly and have to be on Iron pills forever because they removed part of my small intestines. Call your doctor and schedule another consultation !! be sure its what you want because this is your body you are dealing with. I bet your Doctor would agree to another sit-down to discuss ANY doubts or fears about choosing the surgery thats RIGHT FOR YOU!! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!!!!!! 278 surgery weight 234 current weight 180 goal weight
  12. i REALLY admire your accomplishments.. AWESOME! It makes me want to work out more because I haven't lost as much as I really intended. IM NOT GIVING UP,, just getting inspired.

    you are inspiring!!

    KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!

Is It Harder To Lose With A Low Bmi?

oh H%*& yes it is harder! I have been beating myself up inside because of slowww weight loss. I will definitely admit, I have not been perfect with my eating, but not ridiculous. It really has to come from within that you must not be hard on yourself. I take it ONE DAY AT A TIME !! That helps me. Some weeks I don't lose weight. I am averaging 5 lbs a month now. Hang in there and go for a long walk, it clears your head and really makes you feel better! (cheesy, but true) 280/235/180 my starting BMI was 39, now I am 33
  14. You are probably fine. I had my first post op visit exactly 7 days after my surgery. I had lost 15 lbs and my Dr. told me to have two eggs scrambled light with milk and have a small amount of refried Beans mashed down really good. So, I started mushies after only a week! Every person is different, of course, and every Dr. has different instructions. Give them a call and talk to them and you will feel better! 280/235/180
  15. Hey Jeni, I was nervous getting my first fill too. In fact, my heart was racing and beating out of my chest! It turned out, I needed more than one. I had my fourth fill last week and FINALLY I am able to feel full after 4-5 oz. of solid food. A couple times, i ate too quickly and had this pain/pressure in my chest like a golf ball was lodged there. I had to focus on relaxing and it went away after a couple minutes. EAT SLOW !!! SLOWWWW! Good luck!! 278/245/175 10cc band first fill 2.5cc sec fill .5 third fill .5 fourth fill .5

    I Am Alive!

CONGRATS on your first five days! I lost the most weight (14 lbs) during my first 10 days post-op. Then it gets tricky until you start getting fills. Whatever you do, don't beat yourself up during this time. It actually took me 4 fills to have good restriction. Of course, everyone is different. I just wanted to give you a heads up! GOOD LUCK!!! its a rewarding journey. my surgery date: 12-10-07 Dr. Atkinson, Las Vegas, NV. 278/245/175
  17. I totally understand what you are going through! I am 4 weeks out. I lost 14 lbs the first week, lost 2 lbs the second week, gained 2 lbs the 3rd week and gained another lb this week!!! I was told that it is VERY common because we have no restriction yet. Actually, I feel like I did PRE-op. I can eat whatever, but I try to restrain myself because I didn't pay 15 G to just go hog wild again. So I pretty much am waiting patiently for my first fill on Jan 24. I am walking and not drinking anything high calorie. Trying to stay away from bread. Those are my biggest problems. HANG TOUGH! We will get a fill soon and have the restriction that we need.
  18. Hi there! I was banded on 12-10. My first two days were definitely painful where the incisions were, but my WORST pain came at day 7 with the gas. I had gas that went into my shoulder and I was VERY surprised at how much it hurt. It only lasted 3 days though. My advice is MOVE slowly when you get in and out of bed. Take liquid tylenol and buy some gas x strips. I am on day 11 now and feeling AWESOME!! I have to remind myself that I had surgery and to still be careful not to lift anything or over do it. oh yeah,, WALK every hour for at least 5 minutes. That helped too. 19. I was just wondering about the "gas issue" and I read exactly what I am experiencing.. day 2/3 I can REALLY feel gas pressure. Sometimes it is mid-chest and scared me because I thought maybe I did something wrong, like burping too much and made my band slip.. Did you feel it in your mid chest too? thanks! Christina surgery on 12-10.
  20. Alexandra, would you mind telling me what an "AP" band is? I tried looking up this term, but could not find it. THANK YOU! ps: I admire the fact that you were re-banded after a slippage.
