blinky2 got a reaction from Soli3l in Diabetic with Gastric Sleeve, did I chose the wrong surgery?
Have you seen any changes? I'm still pre-op and have been following a lot of people's journeys and the trend I see is that high Protein (like 80+ grams a day) along with exercise are the ones that reach goal quickly and maintain. I plan on Protein shakes just being part of my life forever after surgery. Also spicy things can help boost metabolism and cinnamon can help blood sugar levels if you find yourself still having issues with that. Also eating low carb and high Protein puts our bodies in a mode where it burns fat instead of muscle (although muscle loss will still happen if you're not getting enough protein) and your body needs Water to burn fat at the cellular level. There are lots of great VSGer's on youtube, I love following them becuase you can go back to any part of their journey and see what they struggled with and what they did to overcome it and it's also really easy to communicate with them. Best of luck!

Want to share an updated pic. My 5 month postop date was March 7th. I took a pic that day

So happy for the progress in this amount of time. The loss is steady. It doesn't feel like it's too much in a short amount of time. It seems to be about 3ish lbs weekly with a random week here or there where I lost 5 or 6 (mainly while I had a cold for a month).

One word.....Walmart! It's a half mile from the Marriott. I made the walk less than 48 hours after my surgery. I bought the Water proof bandages and antiseptic spray for less than I would have in Chicago. I FELT I needed all of that however in reality, it was just a comfort thing. I didnt want my clothing rubbing against my sutures. Also, the water at the Marriott and Mi Doctor is filtered. Whomever had the "dirty water" fear can relax. Ecolab provides filtration for the hotel. You are safe!

To answer my own question...I had my surgeries (TT, breast lift, implant exchange, flank Lipo and fat grafting to my butt) this past Friday (2.28) with Dr. Salvador Medina at OCC and despite the fact that I am swollen and bruised, I am already SO happy with how everything turned out. He is a perfectionist and exceeded my expectations. I'm sore but so, so, so happy!!

Good morning to my OCC mentors and friends!
I have spent the past few months reading all your posts and learning a lot from all of you. I am proud and happy for all of your successes and I'm amazed at how this procedure has changed all our lives.
My SW was 266 when I had my surgery on 08Oct13. B2B was there with her family and I was honoured to get to know her and her mom and dad. My journey has been relatively quiet and internal. But I want to share with people who understand. The "normal" folk in my life are happy for my success but don't relate to the journey.
I am in Hawaii right now with my mother, aunt and uncle. I was invited by them last August before I had decided to have the surgery. I had said I would go only to appease them. (I would back out later using my arsenal of excuses to cover up my weight insecurities). With my surgery complete and my recovery over and my weight decreasing, I found I didn't need to make an excuse not to go. So, here I am. A moment I had boarding the plane was the memory of having to ask for a seatbelt extension. (not anymore)
My weight before leaving home was 200.8. I was excited to hit onederland but I will see that number when I get back.
This long winded post is my way of saying thank you to you all for helping me get to this day. Here's to many more successes to each of you!!! Hugs!

blinky2 got a reaction from jujubslim in Plastics on you face. Would you or did you ?
My mom had bypass 5 years ago and lost weight quickly. All my friends said they thought she looked better heavier, but i think it was just because of the loose skin on her face and neck. She just turned 48 and her skin has tightened up a lot from what it was and no one thinks she's pushing 50! If she did use any serums or lotions it would have been from Walmart and probably generic brand because that is how my mom rolls.
