  1. Hi! I am new and nervous. My surgery is this Wednesday the 21st. I am having Gastric Bypass. My current weight is 130. I have wanted this for 2 years but due to insurance requirements I kept barely missing the BMI criteria. Any helpful things regarding the 3 day full liquid would be appreciated. My biggest fear is messing up. I have been given a great gift to have a second chance at a healthy life. I don't want to mess up.

Hi there. Welcome, congrats on your upcoming surgery tomorrow.

  2. Here's another suggestion for newbies and perhaps a little incentive to take MR's advice and actually use the search function on here. If you simply post your question, you are only going to get responses from people currently on these boards who happen to read your post. Yes, you will get some responses, but you are greatly limiting the pool of members that can offer help. I, personally, skip over the repetitive posts and don't waste my time typing the same response I've typed a dozen time. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

So if you actually use the search function to find the answer to your question, you will find answers not only from members that wouldn't answer your post, but you will be getting answers from probably hundreds of members that have moved on and don't come on this forum anymore. They won't ever even read your post. It's like reading today's newspaper and expecting to know what going on in the world, as opposed to sitting down and searching through the last 5 years worth of newspapers. In which scenario will you find more information?

Looks like the app needs to be improved .I use the app 99% of the time and you can't use the search function on it at all.

  3. I'm so sorry that us "newbies" bother you with our questions ...its really interesting ,I thought this was a forum?? Hmm maybe I'm wrong though,I am new and all.

You are right this is in rants and raves but have a bit of sympathy for someone who is new at this.

  4. Being new here the OP almost makes me not want to ask anything in fear someone is going to talk behind my back ranting about my concern/question.

I'm sorry if I post duplicate questions but the way MY mind works is that if I have a question on my mind I need to immediately ask it or I'll forget. If I have a pen and paper I could write it down and then do a search but many times I'm on my phone and looking on the board and don't have access to a pen and paper.

To the OP- I'm thinking that you may be burned out with this site and need to move on perhaps?

I feel the same way :(

  5. I am confused, what is the point of a forum if we dont ask questions. I am preop..so you are telling me that everytime I post I should go and do and search before posting? Most of the time I am on the app so what you are saying is absolutely ridiculous.

    -.-

  6. I had my gallbladder out years ago thankfully. Any other dates for June 9? I have pre op June 2. I was not told about a preop diet at all. I do are a Protein Shake every day for my lunch. I was traveling last week and drove through the night. I had 2 lg Dunkin Dounuts iced coffee with espresso... Mind you I don't drink coffee regularly. Have an iced coffee from home and I was afraid of giving it up . After all that coffee and driving... No taste for it now. I was at a Traders Joes and they had Water with get this... Cucumber and parsley... I never had parsley in m drink.. And it was REFRESHING .

More scared of not eating foods. Love my water!a d I'm down Four pounds... Wahoo!

There are a lot of June 9th dates :)

  7. I was totally set on having the sleeve. I was a regular on the sleeve board. When I went for my consult my surgeon told me that the sleeve could potentially make my gerd worse. Also I have about 140 pounds to lose and he felt I would get closer to my goals. After doing my research I will be having gastric bypass on June 16th. I am very happy with my choice :).

  8. Yeah this is something I am interested in asking about now..when I go for my second insurance weigh in on Friday I am going to bring it up.

My friend took the meds and still needed hers out. I am hoping that this doesn't happen to me,I haven't had any gallbladder issues in the past.
