    Itchy insicions?

Usually the itching means that the skin is healing around the incision. Now in my case, mine itch so bad and I am very prone to topical yeast infections. I got topical yeast infections with four of the 7 incisions and those were the ones down lower on my belly. But those were beat red, had yellow puss, and smelt like yeast. Which I hope that doesn't happen to you. I would talk with your doctor if you think there is something wrong with the itchiness.
  2. I mix up my breakfasts. One day it will be scrambled eggs with cheese on top of a toastada, next day it will be Bear Peak Protein granola with skim milk. I just started to eat steal cut oats made with skim milk. At times I will just have cottage cheese with some fruit. Or eggs with some fruit. I love Al Fresco breakfast chicken sausage patties and then I make a naked egg sandwich with the sausage on the bottom then a slice of provolone cheese, egg, tomato, and onion. So delicious. Then there are days I eat what I had for dinner for breakfast. The other day I tried french toast for the first time. I find awesome recipes online and on Pinterest.
  3. Hey Kimba! To do a little check in, I have lost 5 pounds so now I am down 70 since surgery which will be six months tomorrow and lost 106 all together since I started this journey. I am 291 now, hoping by next Wednesday I will be in either the high or mid 280's. All this weekend for me has been a "not wanna eat" days. I didn't hardly get in the calories I need for the days and also the Protein. But I am back at it today. Been really good at not eating out! Yay me! But what I have done because I crave sweets SO much I talked with my doctor and he said in very careful moderation to have some sweets. So I had three chocolate covered pretzels and yesterday some sugar free Chocolate covered peanuts. It satisfied me and that was that. I can now fit into a size 2X at Old Navy. Had to get a new swim suit bottoms since the other ones fell right off me when I got out of the pool the other day. I have been working out, at least 5 times a day. Tonight I will be swimming then right back to the boot camp challenge. Hope your week is going well. Also welcome all new people! Its great to hear from other people around Michigan who have done WLS and also their journey!
  4. I don't know about a total percentage. But my doctor told me to try and get in between 40-50 grams of carbs a day and 70-100 grams of Protein a day. I do not eat bread, if I do it is whole grain and in a pita form to make a chicken sandwich. I stick with veggies and some nuts and berries. Also I have slowly started to introduce back in my diet fruits. I am not much of a fruit eater but lately I cannot get enough of them. My biggest thing is getting my calorie intake higher than what it currently runs. Right now it runs between 500-700 and I burn that off quickly with my exercising. I wouldn't swap out your veggies with a protein shake, those are the good carbs you want. Its all down to choices, if I didnt have my have my carbs up at 40-50 grams then I would be craving the junk food instead of the good food. I have found this out with trial and error. I would press your doctor some more to get a good estimate on where he would like to see you. If he doesnt have an answer for you I would talk to a nutritionist. Good luck!

    Confused

I was revised from the band to the sleeve in November 2013. My mom had the gastric bypass, so I went in wanting that but did initial research on options and became open to the sleeve. I remained open to both and when I met with my surgeon she told me that I have no reason to get the bypass. She told me she would only do the bypass if I was on two different diabetes medications, and other health reasons. Also another reason why is if I needed my gall bladder out it would be easier to get to verse the bypass. What I believe is all what your health team is considering what is right for you. Also if you don't personally agree with them you can seek out a second opinion with a different then weigh your options. I love the sleeve so far. I am only 5 1/2 months out and so far I am 68 pounds down from surgery and a 100 pounds down since I went in from my first consultation.
  6. Hi Wendyt!! How awesome! Your going to be so happy that you chose this tool and path. Will keep you in my thoughts when you go in

    For my 20 something ladies!

I am 24 no children and I went from a 50DDD to a 46C major difference for me and still adjusting to it. I am down 100 pounds from when I decided to do something about my weight and 69 pounds down from surgery. My boobs are saggy and very visible with the loose skin. I have 45 more pounds to loose to be at my goal and I don't want to loose more in the boobage... I cried when I went down to a C cause they look not so great.
  8. Sweet thank you! So far I buy only new because I had a horrible experience at goodwill and a few other consignment shops. They gave me bed bugs which I am very lucky fought off and they are gone but that's where they came from. So everything I buy goes directly in the wash no questions asked. I do love shopping at Debs for maxi skirts which I have found to LOVE! I am still in between a 22/24 and 18/20 so I think coming soon thats all going to change.
  9. Aww thank you, I am very proud of myself. I am 24 years old. My obesity has been a genetic factor and addicted to food. I come from a long line of addicts. My grandpa on my moms side he was severely obese weighing in at 500 pounds and his grandfather was the same. My mom had the gastric bypass a year earlier before I had the lap band put in place. But growing up I was always big, I cannot say I know what skinny clothes are because my normal is the plus size clothes. I cant wait to hear more about your journey as well!
  10. When I started this journey I weighed in at 397 then the day before surgery I weighed in at 362. So overall I have lost 103 pounds but since surgery I have lose 68 so I am now 294. I cried as well when I saw 297 on the scale. Lately its been emotional for me. It really didn't hit me until I broke under 300. I haven't been under 300 since my freshman year in high school. I have always been a big girl and this is my second weight loss surgery. I had the lap band put in place in 2008 and failed it. So, I am bound and determined to achieve every goal I have with this surgery and use this tool to its full potential. I hated as well stating my weight but when became public with my surgery and weight loss I gained the confidence to actually say it. I am rooting for you too! Hopefully this summer I will come spend some time at the lake
  11. I am in between 22/24-18/20 I downloaded an app called boot camp challenge and have been religiously doing that every day and swimming. I was a size 28 almost outta that size when I began. So, I am hoping by the 28th of this month which is my sixth month check up I will break into the 280's by then. Crossing fingers. I am so jealous you live 6 miles from the lake lol
  12. I can't wait to get to the lake this summer! I plan on doing a lot of traveling to the beach compared to last year. Only compliant I have with any bathing suits is I lost about 3 cup sizes so the one I have now looks odd on me lol but I cant wait to get into something smaller
  13. High Five! I am almost six months out and rocking it out! I am from Michigan as well!!

    For the Ladies

I got my period the day of surgery and it lasted three months...pure hell. Now its somewhat regular as being every other week. My SUPER irregular periods are caused from way to many hormones racing through my body (what joy). Waiting to hit my insurance deductible to switch from the implanon to the Mirena

    How Many Calories @ Day?

I am almost sixth months out and I struggle with this constantly. I set my MyFitnessPal to 1,800 calories which I know seems much but I barely hit 900 calories. Reason why I set it high is see how much I am truly eating. On a non exercise day which is two days out of a seven day week I normally eat between 500-600 calories. On exercise days I get between 700-900 calories, which I will say is HARD! I find I loose more when I get between 600-800. My doctor explained it to me that our bodies need fuel to run and 500 calories a day is not giving it the fuel to properly run. I have been uber carb conscious as well and was getting 15-25 grams of carbs in a day which is a no-no for me I should be getting around 50-60 grams of carbs and 100-150 grams of protein. Every nutritionist and doctor is going to tell you different. I guess my suggestion to you would to try to find that range that works for you that starts back up the weight loss. Also a stall is going to happen no matter what, your body is going to fight you because you had this extra weight on for a long time it likes it, it doesn't want you to loose it. I was stalled as well for a month at three months out...it was pure hell so I get it. Wish you the best! I hope my rambling helps a little

    Facebook boo-boo....

I am all about social media, I made the conscious decision to post about my surgery via blog that is shared on my Facebook. I wrote my first blog about a couple weeks till I had surgery. Posted it and let the questions come on in from friends and family. Many of my loved ones that I wanted to know about my surgery knew about it before the world knew. It was a relief for me, and my mom who shares the social media love like I do. One thing I did get tired of real quick was people would ask me how much the surgery was, and what can and cannot eat. Those questions bugged me only because they were looking for a simple quick fix to being overweight.

    Sex Crazed

My sex drive has went through the roof since surgery. I have always had a super high sex drive but since then my man can't keep up. He loves the challenge and I like it! At least it didn't scare him off.

    I stink!

I have heard that is a sign of ketosis but I am not a doctor. I haven't had this problem but I work part time in a doctors office as well and one thing the doctor I work for suggests for B.O. that is way to over powering is getting botox in the glands. Sounds WAY too painful for me to even think of but he says it works. I would try the clinical strength deodorant and see if it works. If it doesn't I would ask your PCP for suggestions on how to handle the B.O.
  21. Round three was completed for the boot camp challenge starting round four tonight...I am feeling the burn!!

  22. Just downloaded the app on my phone the Boot Camp Challenge! Going to try that because I am slowly loosing motivation to actually exercise.

  23. "I got dressed this morning for myself. Put on eyeliner for myself. Put on my favorite red lipstick for myself. Showed a bit of skin for myself. I wanted to be beautiful for myself." I found this quote on Pinterest last night. It really hit home for me because even when though I have a significant other in my life who loves me dearly, I still dress and put on the makeup just to make myself feel beautiful. I don't seek out compliments, but it makes me feel that way internal and happens I have an amazing man in my life who reminds me constantly that I am beautiful on the outside and the inside.
