I also am learning to love myself.. I agree, each person wears their weight differently.. I just hit 199. My highest weight 350 my lowest I can remember around age 14 was 180, but I was a size 16 then... It is so weird 3 kids later and I am now a size 12/14... Even bought a 10 yesterday and it fit... I keep thinking my bones have to be made of lead... My goal weight for myself was 175.. I am 5'8. Dr never set a goal just said "keep with the program" when first discussed WLS I said, 180 was my goal and his nurse said very doable...

Some people just wear their weight well! At 220, you looked great! Now you're even 17 pounds lighter!
I'm 5'7" & my goal is 150 but truthfully, I think that would be too skinny. If I get down to 165, I'd be grateful & happy. Like you, I've always worn my weight well...
    Good luck to you!

The fact that you said, you love the way to look and feel answers your questions. From my experience, there were weights I felt great at and weights that I felt uncomfortable in my skin at. I felt amazing at 160 and a size 10 not so great at 145 as an 8. Your body will guide you, if you want to go lower, than try it out if not, don't worry because you love the way you look and feel.

My doctor didn't set a weight goal for me. Yay for Mexico!
    My goal is to:
    1. Run a 5k
    2. Chase my kid through the slide at McDonalds
    3. Feel sexy
Whatever number that happens at is where I'll be happy with maintaining.

@@CheleLynn45 I think they need to throw out that old weight chart that they keep trying to get us to follow! There are so many different body types that we can't all be expected to fall into the same "healthy" or "ideal" weight. With that being said I'll continue in the gym to tone up but I'm gonna try and stay at this weight cause it does feel great! ???? but I know in a few days I'll look at that scale and say you can still get to your goal and look and feel just as good. ????
I guess it's better to deal with this than head hunger ???? lol

@@c-love Nope, your body, your life. Don't chase numbers, chase good health. Can you maintain at this weight? Is this a healthy weight for your height? Are you within the normal range for what would be considered a healthy BMI? Talk to your doctor about these things and perhaps come up with a plan for a compromise.

My surgeon spoke to me about where he would like me to be. For my height of almost 5'4" my "ideal" weight would be 135lbs. HA! I actually laughed out loud in his office when he said that. I told him I have set my goal (for now) at 175lbs, he suggested 165lbs.
I think that going with a weight that YOU feel good at works for me. I had lost almost 100lbs years ago and was down to around 190ish and even at 5'4" I felt GREAT!! I had worked out a lot and think my body was shaped pretty good. Now I was still obese I believe at that weight but I felt good and thought I looked pretty good.
I am hoping that as I continue to lose that I don't get to a point where those last 10 or 20 pounds drive me nuts. I believe the number on the scale is just a number it doesn't define us. Just like clothing sizes. It does feel great to zip up a smaller size of jeans, believe me you, but like the number on the scale no one sees your size tag.
You keep doing what you are doing, as long as you are doing what's good for you I see no reason to kill yourself to get to some number that your surgeon wants you at.
Good luck and keep rocking that beautiful body!!!

My lowest recent weight (about 3.5 years ago) was 180 and I felt GREAT at that weight. So great that even went ahead and had plastics done. But then I regained the weight all the way back up to within 10 pounds of my highest weight (270). When I had my VSG in September, the nutritionist set my goal weight as 165, which is the lowest weight I've ever been at as an adult, back when I was 23 (I'm 35 now). My personal goal was 155, because that would put me at a healthy BMI. But honestly, if I just get back down to 180 again, I think I can be truly happy, because I really did look and feel amazing at that weight.

Just had my 6 month follow up with dr's and still cannot believe how this surgery has changed my life, I went from a high weight of around 285 to 169, size 40/42 pants to 32/33 and med/large shirts not only has my eating and workout habits changed but my outlook on life in general, I love being outside and being active, I enjoy wearing nicer brighter clothes that stand out, there's more of a bounce in my step.
I'm sorry if I sound like I'm gloating, but by no means was this an easy road to haul, I cut out the social lunches at work and hit the gym instead now a lot of the guys and girls I work with join me in the gym and tell me what an inspiration I am to them, I prepare meals in advance so that I had them on hand and can eat properly and make smarter snack choices, I've had the full support of my loving wife and children who keep me motivated. I feel like I'm riding on cloud 9.

c-love reacted to NY Lou in 1 year 5 months post op update with before and after pics - any questions?
I haven't posted for a while and just wanted to send this update. I was sleeved in march 2013 at about 300 lbs and reached my goal in jan 2014 at around the low 180's. today, Aug. 20, 2014, I still weigh 182, so since jan I have basically maintained my weight in between 180-185 so I think this is the weight I will permanently stay at. I exercise 3-4 times a week. over the last 1.5 years ive become a runner and do about 15-20 miles per week. i started out by just walking but now ive also completed a few 13.1 mile half marathons and earlier this year I finally fulfilled a lifelong dream of mine and completed a 26.2 mile full marathon. I can definitely eat a lot more now that I did when I was first sleeved, but I do make the right food choices of what I put in my mouth. I can see that if I made bad food choices I could easily gain back 15-20 lbs or even more because like I said, I can eat a lot more now than I could a year ago. so making a lifestyle change is critical for long term success with the sleeve. if you don't make the correct lifestyle changes, eventually you will stop losing weight and as your ability to eat more increases, you could actually start gaining weight again. thankfully ive been one of the lucky ones and ive had no complications or trouble eating. I never hit any serious plateaus as I went from around 300 to the low 180's very steadily. but I did work the program and I always ate right and I always made time for exercise. I think these last 2 steps is what truly made me successful and made my journey an easy one. heres a few current pics from this month. life is good, the sleeve is the best thing that's ever happened to me and at the age of 51 im in the best shape of my life!
if any of you have any questions for a 1.5 year out sleever, ask away and ill gladly answer.

Rory it's been forever since I posted but wanted to throw out an update to everyone. My name is Lamonica and I was sleeved on February 5/2014. My highest weight was a year and a half ago when I weighed in at 298 lbs. during the course of a year I was able to drop 20 lbs, starting weight of 278 lbs right before surgery. I am now happy to announce that I am coming up on my 6 month mark and weighing in at 176 lbs. I feel great and I have so much more confidence and energy. I love my sleeve!
