1. I was able to start pureed foods this past Thurs. and I put unflavored Protein powder in everything! I buy the nectar Unflavored Protein Powder. I can't taste it in anything. I have one Premier Protein shake in the morning, which is 30g of protein, and I do pureed foods with protein powder the rest of the day. I also make sure I get my fluids in. I drink Water throughout the day. I am able to get 65 to 70g of protein and 64oz in everyday. I highly recommend unflavored protein powder!

  2. I am 3 weeks post op and I have lost a total of 50lbs (this includes pre op diet). I woke up this morning with the same problem. I have been walking every day to keep my muscles going, but this morning I woke up with a sore back. I wasn't sure if it was because of the weight loss, but maybe it is. I did not have this problem before the surgery.

  3. Hi everyone! I am now 5 days post-op. Things are going great. I am getting 60grams of liquid Protein and 64 oz of Water each day. The first day was difficult due to the air in my stomach, but each day that has gotten better. I am able to walk more and my energy is up. I also was able to stop the pain medication yesterday.

My hospital stay was great. My nurses were on on top of it. I ended up staying an extra night due to trying to get my pain under control. My doctor wanted to be sure I would be ok once I went home. I have started to notice a change in my body and face.

How is everyone else doing? Feel free to ask questions. I love talking with everyone about what they are going through. It helps me figure what I am doing!

  4. Well, tomorrow I am getting sleeved. I check in at 11am and surgery is at 1pm. I have so many emotions going on right now. I am nervous, excited, happy, anxious, etc. I am so ready for the next part of this journey. Today marks 10 days I have been on the liver reducing diet. I have had 5 Protein Shakes a day for 10 days! Believe me, it was hard the first 4 days, but I didn't give up or cheat! As if Sunday I was down 37lbs. I am excited to see what the scale says tomorrow. I began this journey in November and I thought this day would never come and here I am. This forum has helped me through the rough times and has helped me keep my spirits up. Thank you everyone! I will continue to update how everything goes tomorrow and when I return home. If anyone wants to chat or ask questions please feel free to. I love talking with everyone! ????

  5. Well after waiting 9 months I am finally scheduled for surgery! I will be having my sleeve surgery next Thursday, July 31st! I am so excited and nervous all at the same time.

My 9 months consisted of 6 months weight management, psych eval, gall bladder removal, cardiologist clearance, an initial denial from insurance, and an appeal process. It was an emotional roller coaster. But here I am! I am so excited to be starting the next phase of this journey! As of today, I have lost 27lbs. I am now on my 3rd day of the liquid diet. So far so good!

One thing that has kept me going through all of this is positivity. Staying positive and optimistic has truly helped me get through the rough parts. Everything happens for a reason! I truly believe this. Having a great support system is extremely helpful too! I want to say thank you to everyone on here! Our support system has meant the world to me!

  6. I am going through that very thing right now. Insurance denied me because I had shown a weight gain during my weight management, but at my last weight management appt i had shown a weight loss of 20lbs. Insurance claims they did not receive my paperwork from May which is the month that shows the weight loss. My doctor is going to do a peer to peer phone call with my insurance to have the decision reversed. My doctor also told me that they were not giving the requirement that I could not gain weight. So, I am hoping to receive good news soon.

IF your insurance denies your request then you should have the option to appeal their decision. I would talk with your surgeon to find out how to go about something like that. For now, stay positive! You never know, you could be approved! ????

  7. Hey everyone! I have a question for all of you. I just completed my 6 months of required weight management. I have gained 12 pounds during the 6 months. I followed the diet as closely as possible, but still managed to gain. Have any of you gone through this? It is extremely frustrating! I am worried insurance will not approve my surgery due to this. My surgeon did not say I needed to lose or maintain my weight in order to have surgery. That was not a requirement, but it is still bothersome. Can anyone relate to this?

  8. I know how you feel! My insurance required the 6 months of weight management. I have one more appointment with my PCP and then everything is sent to Aetna for their decision. I haven't been able to lose anything. In fact, I actually gained a few pounds. I also ended up having my gall bladder removed at the 3 month mark. I have definitely struggled. I have been trying different shakes and using them as Meal Replacements. It has been really difficult emotionally for me. I am ready for the surgery, though. I have been going to a gym regularly and I have been working on Portion Control. I just need the next piece of the puzzle. Good luck to you! You will do great!

  9. Great news! Stress came out normal! I received my cardiology clearance for surgery. So relieved! Now, I just need to finish up my weight management with my PCP. Once that is done it gets sent to insurance for approval. I am so excited!

  10. awold0,

My gallbladder surgery went well! I didn't experience any pain prior to it. They found the stones during my ultrasound. As a precaution my surgeon wanted to go ahead and remove it. It was an outpatient procedure. It took about 40 minutes and then I was in recovery for about an hour. After that I went home. The pain wasn't too bad. Just make sure you move around. Be sure to walk as much as you can. That definitely helped with my recovery!

If I can be of any help please let me know! Thank you for your encouragement!

  11. Thank you all so much! It is a little stressful. I have my appointment with the cardiologist on Friday. I will try to relax. I just had my gallbladder removed about 4 weeks ago due to stones. I know this is all for my end goal, to be healthy! I am so excited about being sleeved and starting a new and healthier life. Just gotta get through this.

  12. I am in the process of preparing to be sleeved. I had all of my hospital testing done last month. My surgeon's office just contacted me and told me I had an abnormal EKG. She said it is probably nothing, but I need to go see a cardiologist so that I can get cleared for the surgery. Has anyone else gone through this? I am only 30 and I haven't had any heart problems before. I am not sure how to fell about this.

  13.
So you are at the beginning of the head games you body is playing with you eh........

I want to tell you that what you are feeling is normal...everyone of us has to fix our heads if we are going to succeed in this journey...It is called a journey because it will not happen over night...Day to day we will work to learn different ways to handle our need to eat for comfort. That was the backbone of our plan to solve all the trouble we dealt with in life....

So ask yourself, Am i really hungry or am I still demanding that something besides myself is filling this void....I have to change the way I handle stress and life without food as the answer....

There is a few reasons why your body is experiencing head hunger..1 You have not found an alternative to replace it. 2 your body is craving these foods that kept you calm momentarily. 3 You are so distracted by the need to eat that you can't get past it.

Keep some nuts or seeds by you or in your pocket for such a time...munch on one seed at a time..Maybe it is the crunch you are looking for....Grapes are another food that can be eaten one at a time as you go about your day....

The real solution is to find other things to fill the void and figure out what triggers this behavior.....What pushes the buttons that make you want to sabotage yourself.....

That is where I would start!!!!!!!!! Drink Water as much as possible...sip, sip sip and work on the addiction as it is the main reason why you are here....

No one thinks it is a hop skip and a jump to win this war..It is one battle at a time..but you are not a lone..We are all fighting it together...K

Thank you so much for sharing this! Great tips and extremely helpful!!
