  1. Hi Joanne, I was banded by Gary Crosthwaite in Nov 07....lovely person...only seen him twice since the surgery as the Docs at The Avenue do the fills after his first one.....i was scared at the time of surgery mainly because i was sad that i had let myself get to the stage where i had to take such a drastic action....I am so glad i did now..have lost 20kilos and feel great...It gets better as time goes on...Pam

  2. hi msunshne, i cannot believe all the set backs that can hold things up,especially when you are really geared up for it.....In Australia we seem to have a breeze in getting all the pre-op tests etc done.....i really only needed to have the blood tests done and that was all....i have had my first fill from being banded on the 9th Nov.07 am due to go for another fill on the 14th january......haven't been losing much but also not putting on either...good luck for your surgery and remember to really rest up after it....cheers Maccy

  3. Hi Less Than Meg, I was banded by Mr Crosthwaite on the 9th Nov 07 at The Avenue and he was fantastic....He is such a nice person to talk with...had my first fill with him last thursday and dont actually get the rest of the fills by him as the doctors at The Avenue take over....he wants to see me (less of me) in 4 months.....I wouldnt go past him ...good luck maccy

  4. hi Karen, it seems to be that there is so much to think about regarding this whole process that i was worried i may have over looked something or tuned out when i should have been listening about costs and health funds.....you will be banded a week before me..i had my blood tests done today the nurse counted out twenty tests that had to be carried out from the five tubes of blood they took....at least they are thorough..cheers maccy

  5. Hi Ginaki, It will cost me $3500 and this is the amount the surgeon quoted and HBA when i asked about it...I had my surgeon app. on Friday and he has pencilled my surgery in for November. why isnt mine under pre-existing.....or is it because of the time i have spent in the fund that covers the qualifing period.. am excited and scared at the same time. regards maccy

  6. hi M,,,this is my first reply to anything on lap band talk...i have just had my visit to the surgeon. i attended the info. seminar at The Avenue in Windsor..there was no mention of having to wait as it was a pre-existing illness.i have been in the health fund for nearly 10 years but fighting weight issues for 25 years....is this classed as pre-existing...have been given an op.date for November.....thanks maccy
