    Band date 4/3/14

I live in Texas to and the heat is something else. I was banded 03/10/14 and I'm looking forward to not having to spend my summer covered up in stifling hot cloths. Good luck.

    Banded today.

Just reporting in, I was expecting tons of gas pain, but so far none. When I asked my sugeon about it he said you shouldn't have any because i got most of it out during surgery. I can advance to full liquids today, but it's very hard as im not hungry at all. Yes I know its necessary to make sure I get all my protein in so I think I'll attempt a protein shake in a little bit. Im just amazed right now. I tried to get chicken broth down last night and could only do a couple of spoonfuls before I was full. I never needed anything for pain so no constipation for me. All systems are working fine. Picture perfect surgery and recovery so far. Hope everyone else has such an easy time. Thanks for all the support.

    Banded today.

Finally feeling a little more awake. Still no pain, couple oz's of ice chips. I really want a Popsicle but only because my mouth and throat are dry, not because I'm hungry. So happy I stuck out the preop diet. Days 1&2 are clear liquid, I can't wait for full liquid. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Feels good to be on the other side
  4. I just have to say I have the best husband ever!!! He just suprised me with the ninja blender ( it has single serve cups) just to make sure I can make it through the liquid stage post-op. I sincerly hope all of you have such great support at home.
  5. I've really struggled with the water intake. I'm already drinking so much fluid it's hard to get 64oz of water.
  6. I took your advice and I have no idea why I have not tried Greek yogurt before now. That works so well, and I blended my chocolate protein powder with coffee and ice. Absolute heaven compared to drinking isopure. I should have done this days ago
  7. Unflavored protein powder!! I was able to throw one scoop into my coffee and although it wasn't the best tasting I could get it down and bam 25g if protein down and only 50 more to go. Im supposed to have 30g of carbs but I have found that almost impossible to do, never thought I'd have that problem. Only 2 more days left thank you for the encouragement. It seems like everyone else was finding preop so easy to do. Your words make me feel tons better.
  8. I wish I could have a light dinner. Mine has been liquid protein for almost 2 weeks now.
  9. My husband bought me some unflavored protein powder today. I'm hoping I can just add that to my drinks and tomatoe soup and get my protein that way. I know this is only for a short time and I don't have a problem with protein. I just want it in meat form. Ugh just a few days until surgery and I can put this part behind me.
  10. All I have o say is the pre-op diet sucks!! It has not gotten any easy and just the thought of drinking another isopure makes me sick. I feel drained, if I stand up to fast I get light headed and dizzy. What I wouldn't give to actually chew some food. If I had lost 15 pounds any other time I would have been totally excited, now I don't even care I just want a taco and I don't even like Mexican. And in case you couldn't tell it's making me a tad bit grumpy. Thankfully surgery is on Monday.
  11. Ugh second day of preop diet. It totally sucks, but I keep telling myself this to shall pass. I absolutely refuse to fail I can and will follow my surgeons instructions exactly. On the plus side down 3 pounds already.
  12. Im only taking 3 days off. We are already short one nurse and it's just not possible for me to take more time. One of the ladies I work with also has the band and said that was all she needed.
  13. Tomorrow I start my 2 week preop diet. Knowing this will not be easy for me not only has my husband agreed to do this with me, but he bought me the cutest water bottle decorated with rhinestones and sparkles, which is perfect since I'm a sparkly kind of girl. I feel so lucky to have a husband who supports me this way. Hopefully other's on this journey have the same support.

    Sleeve or band?

I never considered anything else either. I know I have plenty of weight to lose, but not so much I wanted my stomach cut out. I like the the band is adjustable and reversible if need be. The lap band fits my personal individual needs. I don't think there is a right or wrong choice. Just the choice that is right for you.
  16. Starfish I love this!! Not gonna get many beads at my weight. I just want to get my life back and start living again and doing the things I enjoyed.
  17. I'm extremely healthy - really no medical conditions other then weight. My doctor asked me if I had anything we could use, all I could come up with a weak bladder ( please don't let me sneeze, jump, or cough) he immediately said that will improve if you lose weight. Only took two weeks and I was approved. Don't give up keep fighting.
  18. Congrats. So happy for you. I start mine on Monday.

    Question I received Yesterday

This saddens me , not because I'm surprised by people and their remarks but because it upset you. You are always so supportive of everyone here and your goodness just shines through. Even though I have not personally met you just know you inspire me. So for every negative person out there just remember your a beacon of light for me and I'm sure many others

    Gas, Gas, GAS! Help!

I'm glad your feeling better!! I'm thinking I may have to talk my doctor into seeing if he can go easy on the gas. Seems like the gas gets everyone. I can't be having all that at work.

    Gas, Gas, GAS! Help!

Laying on your left side with your knees bent and drawn up to your chest with a warm blanket between your knees will help move the gas. I always had my GI patients do that to dispel the gas after a colonoscopy and it never failed. Hope you feel better soon.
  25. I was going to buy protein powder and all that stuff but the guy at GNC said every customer he has for wls surgery gets the isopure and the dietician recommended it as well. I figure I'll just see how it goes I can always buy the other stuff later.
