Barfing is not fun! Neither is the nausea! Just hang in there and it will get better. Your doc knows what he is doing and if it gets too bad: call your medical team.

When I vomited after surgery; what came up was burned blood and it reeked. Its possible that you can taste it or smell it on your burps. The nurses said that the nausea was normal for sleeve patients and it usually goes away once all that blood is out.

My friend is a surgical tech and she says it normal for one incision to be more sore because that's the hole where most of the surgical tool manipulation goes on.
-
I felt those emotions too don't worry its normal!

Linda from Florida: we are not the ones to judge whether she could have lost the weight with excercise and diet... I think that anyone considering surgery should prepare for the risks of something not going right. I started the paperwork for fmla and short term disability just in case .... I hope they can get everything figured out! My medical team had me on all kinds of anti inflammatory medications to help the swelling go down which ultimately allowed me to eat broth with Protein powder and runny oatmeal and potato Soup.
-
One thing ive discovered in the evening hours is that something that felt like hunger didn't go away after eating the potato soup today but it did go away after eating some tums. So stomach acid can feel like hunger.. I remember reading that but now I know what they are talking about.

Yes I'm doing better today. I started aiming for some Protein intake. I added a tablespoon of strawberry sorbet Protein powder into some very tunny oatmeal and ate half a package of oatmeal for lunch and Breakfast. For dinner I had 4 oz of potato Soup taken two oz at a time over 2 hours and I had added half a scoop of chicken flavored protein from unjury and kept that down. My downfall today was a cough that happened at 530 this morning followed by a searing pain near one of my incisions. It seriously hurt so bad I was almost in tears and I had my husband check to see if anything had ripped open and he said no. Anyways; that cough upped my pain for the day but I was able to go walk 2 times for 20 minutes each time and ive been up and about in the house. Ive been taking my pain medicine to keep the pain at a bearable state.

I had to take nausea medicine today around noon... just hang in there and hopefully the nausea will go away

I feel those gas pains too. I know its gas when the pain starts moving around and I feel it all up under my ribs... it is seriously no fun and I feel it when I burp too! I cant wait til all the gas is gone!

How are the April sleevers doing, any feedback?
webhopper replied to Desiree323's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wonder if retried beans with milk added to get it to a liquid consistency would be ok... I think I'm going to try that tomorrow -
How are the April sleevers doing, any feedback?

I'm doing good; I am with you; I don't feel full but I feel a slight tightness in my sternum and then I quit eating. I keep a bottle of water with me at all times and ive drank probably 24 oz of water today. For my morning meal I had tunny oatmeal with injury strawberry powder added. I had the same thing for lunch. I only ate half of the package of oatmeal in those two meals. For dinner I had potato Soup. I ate about two oz and then waited and then ate another two oz. I added the chicken flavored unjury powder to try and get some Protein in. -
hey guys! I also had surgery April 21st. the first day was wretched, but things are looking up. I'm able to drink, and today I had really runny potato soup with unjury chicken flavored powder mixed in. It was really good. I'm determined to take the healing process one day at a time and focus on getting my liquids first, then proteins.

Hang in there Justin. I had Horrible nausea and couldn't keep anything but Water and broth down for two days. I threw up the Jello and I threw up the Protein Shake. So ya I feel your pain. Don't be discouraged; it will get better as the swelling goes down. I'm able to tolerate Greek yogurt and tunny oatmeal today and I added Protein Powder to the oatmeal to try and sneak some Protein in. In the hospital I was begging for nausea meds and I was on three different ones but it wasn't helping Just take your time don't be impatient Focus on the things that will go down; for me that was apple juice; broth; and sugar free popsicles.
-
I'm here to check in. I got discharged today at noon. I still cant get over how full I feel just from drinking a few ounces of Water. I made me a smoothie with Greek yogurt; whole milk; and pineapple chunks and I'm drinking that. So far so good; its staying down. At what point do I need to try to push for 50 g of Protein?
