  1. I stalled for two weeks at about three weeks out from surgery. I kept exercising and I dropped four pants sizes in those two weeks but not an ounce of weight. I also I had to put the scale away. I was weighing myself several times a day. I was becoming really upset. Now I only weigh myself every couple of days. It's much better that way, so u don't see the weight fluctuations, which do happen. When my stall finally broke, I lost 13 pounds in 3 days. I have been slowly loosing ever sense. Just follow your program and your stall will come to an end. I have learned to patient, we didn't gain weight overnight, so we aren't going to lose it over night. Keep us updated on how you are doing. Good luck!!

  2. I am so excited. I know this has nothing to do with surgery, but I have to tell someone. So why not tell the forum. I am having my first job interview since I had all my spine surgeries in 2012. I was terminated from my last job because I got a staph infection and was not able to return to work at the time I was supposed too. Kinda unfair, but life isn't fair. Took me a while to get over feeling like a failure. Anyway, I really hope I get this job. Sometimes I always had this thought in the back of my head I wasn't getting a job because of my weight. Hopefully, tomorrow will be different, plus I am well qualified for this job. Wish me luck!!! The only problem I have is I have no interview clothes because I have no money to buy them. So I am going to wear my doc martens, nice jeans and a nice top.

  3. I have a tungsten wedding band. I bought the warranty plan that included getting a new ring if I needed a smaller size. Tungsten cannot be sized. I am going to wait until my weight stabilizes before I order another one. I get most of my rings from the epiphany line from QVC. It cannot be sized because it's platinum plated. I do have one real gold Diamonique ring that will have to sized. I can't wait to be able to wear a necklace with the standard 18 inch chain instead of a 20 or 24 inch chain.

  4. Jtickle thats great I am glad that one of your friends has seen the benefits from this surgery my reason for having my procedure was because of my diabetics type 2 as well I got tired of taking 5 shots a day and with high blood pressure and high cholesterol that was the final straw, I will be getting enrolling into LaFitness this Thursday so that I can take advantage of their aqua aerobics and other exercise equipment, I have been walking everyday now and getting in all of my required Water and i see with just this adjustment i drop 11 pounds this week. My goal is to go to the gym at lest 5-6 days a week as well as continue to walk. My husband said I have transfered my food addiction to exercise, lol but its ok because I feel great and I want to hit my goal by my anniversary date which is May 19.keep us posted .

I actually was told on another forum for WLS that I had a transfer addiction to exercise. I was like that's fine at least I'm not addicted to food anymore. Even though I did sneak some ranch dressing last night. Anyway, a bunch forum members ganged up on me, saying I exercise to much and I need psychological help. That loosing weight is 90% diet, 10% exercise. If that's true my surgeon must be a lair. One of them told me how proud he was of his 80 pound weight loss in 40 months. I asked him why he had surgery if he just needed to loose 2 pounds a month. They were mean and rude.

  5. Jtinkle how are you today I am sure that as you progress and get into the gym you will meet several like minded friends. Your ex-friends are jelouse you are now focusing on your overall quality of life which is a positive thing. Stay focus and show them all you got this, perhaps they will see your success and began to make necessary healthy choices of their own.

I am doing fine, I had little infection in one of my incisions, but its doing great. I am on 3 antibiotics for it. One of my friends has come around the other has not, so I cut ties with her and let her go. My life isn't any different without her. The friend that came around understands why i had the surgery. I wanted it to get rid of my comorbidities, especially the diabetes. She is trying to keep me from going to the gym so much though. I go 6 days a week for an hour. The doctor said to go 5 days a weeks for 30 to 60 minutes.

  6. Yesterday I bought my very first pair of womens athletic shorts. They are an XL, this is nothing short of a miracle considering I was a 3x bottom a month ago. I also got a pair of compression pants too. I usually get men's reebok or nike athletic shorts from Sam's Club. They have them for about 15 dollars a pair. Which is way better than paying full price for them. Just wanted to share my exciting moment.

  7. Nothing has made me dump yet. I have even tried a couple things that shouldn't have. I guess my sample just wasn't enough to make me sick. I tried about a teaspoon of key lime frosting, a tater tot, and tonight I had a single fish stick. But I needed something to take my pills with the other day, didn't have any applesauce so I had to use apple butter. Didn't make me sick either. I am beginning to wonder if anything will give it to me. I have even been out to dinner and had a shrimp taco salad. Took me two days to eat it and I felt great.

  8. My personal trainer came this morning to take measurements and percentages - In the last year, on top of losing 96 pounds (so far), I've lost over 25 inches around my whole body and I've dropped over 8% in body fat just since May. What a great way to start the day!! Happy Thursday everyone!

That's awesome!!! I bet that made your day.

  9. I agree with everyone on the Greek yogurt or fruit. Sf Cookies and Popsicles have sugar alcohols in them which can be just as bad sugar. Plus being as early out as you are, you could really cause some problems for your new stomach being eating cookies or wafers. Besides, not trying to be rude, but didn't the cookies and other stuff like that get us to point of needing to have surgery to lose weight. I'd stick with the healthy stuff.

  10. Welcome!!! I have many comorbidities as well. Diabetes, pcos, Gerd, stress incontinence, etc.... I had the RNY on June 25th and I feel awesome. I have lost almost 60 pounds and my blood sugar is normal for the first time in years. I don't have heartburn anymore. I go to the gym 6 days a week for hour or so. I had no pain or nausea after surgery. The only food I have had problems with is tuna. It definitely got stuck. Anyway, that being said. Do all the homework you can about before your surgery. You will do far better if you are prepared.

  11. Oh brother...I have sciatica pain so I know what you're going through. Here's hoping this resolves quickly.

I wouldn't wish sciatica on my worst enemy. The stimulator has reduced the pain in my leg at least 90%. Which is really good considering most people get about 50% pain relief. My incision was still draining yesterday and is swollen this morning. My stimulator battery is still quite painful and my lower back is very stiff. I am on 750mg of Levaquin. That the largest dose of the antibiotic that you can get in pill form. If my back is not doing better by Monday I have to call the doc and check in with him to see what I need to do. I'm sure I will end up with a bunch if blood work and some kind of scan to check for Fluid in my back. I have already been through this before with my first spinal fusion surgery. I had a staph infection that landed me in hospital for 9 days and 6 weeks of home IV antibiotics. Hope everyone is having a good morning!!

  12. I have an infection in one of tummy incisions. It has draining dark green gunk for two days. My surgeon put me on Levaquin for seven days. I also have a spinal cord stimulator implant. The battery portion of it has been hurting for about 5 days now. The doctor in charge of the stimulator thinks my severe battery pain and my tummy infection are related. This is not good considering I have a history of really bad staph infections. I have been told that if it doesn't quit hurting, I will have to have it looked at. The stimulator helps with sciatica leg pain. Which I have in both legs. I can't exercise without it. However, if there is an infection around it, they have to remove it. Which means back surgery number 7. When it rains it pours at my house. Thanks for letting me vent.
