I know exactly how you feel. My husband bought pizza over the weekend and I am on soft foods. I got so mad at him that I did cry. He has been having all kinds of food that I used to love now, but the pizza has been the only thing got a reaction out of me. It will get better and we will make it thru this. My surgeon does soft foods for 3 months. I am only a week in. The only food that I am really enjoying is hummus. I am having a heck of a time getting all my protein in.

I didn't have a 6 month diet or a psych evaluation requirement.

the joy of eating, not so much.

I usually measure out 3oz. I'm lucky if I can take in that much. -
I am almost 3 weeks post-op. I have totally lost any interest in eating. I don't enjoy it and I have to force feed myself on a schedule. I am still able to get all my fluids in but I am having a heck of a time eating enough protein. I can only eat about 2 to 3 ounces of food at a time. The protein shakes are super sweet now, I can barely drink them. Am I the only one experiencing this?

I am allowed three 4 oz meals a day. Sometime I can eat the whole 4 ounces sometimes I can't. I just have no interest in food what so ever. I am having to put unflavored protein in everything that I can to get daily amount of protein. I have no problems with fluids. -
I have UHC Choice Plus. It took just over a week for approval.

I wouldn't change anything I did. I lost 25 pounds before and I wasn't required too. I will admit it I cheated during my preop diet. I had taco bell. I guess it had so much sodium in it, I had gotten up the next morning and weighed myself. I had put on 4 pounds. I lost it before my surgery, thank goodness. I wish I would of went to the gym before my surgery, my healing body isn't used to exercise just yet. I am slowly working up to an hour of vigorous exercise.

Head Hunger driving me insane
jtickle replied to supremeh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I finally was able to eat soft foods yesterday. I could not eat 2 ounces of cottage cheese. You can definitely feel the restriction. -
I had a catheter after surgery. Glad I had it to I was so doped up, I couldn't of walked to the bathroom.

Head Hunger driving me insane
jtickle replied to supremeh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The head hunger isn't as bad after surgery. I had my surgery two weeks ago and today is the first day that my brain is wanting to eat something. I think it is because I have my check up tomorrow and I get to start soft foods. -
The grape is not to bad. Take it really cold.

I have severe bipolar type 1. It has been controlled really well with meds. Apparently, the news of my upcoming surgery has triggered a manic episode in me. I am having extremely bad mood swings. One minute I am happiest person on the planet and the next I am the evil b**ch that no one wants to meet. I am taking everything out on my poor husband. I am so happy about my surgery even though I have to wait to the end of June to have it and the next second I am super pissed that I had to help my husband pay the cell phone bill this month which kept me from having surgery in May. I am making all these plans in super high speed mode. I go to bed at about 10pm only to get back up at 1130 and not being able to go back to sleep. It just a matter of time before I am not sleeping at all. Is there anyone else who has had WLS and also has diagnosed bipolar disorder. I say dx'd because I have noticed after having this illness for so long that many people like to think they have BP disorder, when only two percent of the population actually have it. I totally chewed the secretary at the psychiatrist's office out. I have been calling there for three days trying to get some help. I have never called there this much and I am the patient that never calls unless some freaky is going on. I finally had to have my husband call there and that got there attention. I got an appointment for next week, which is pretty quick considering that my next appointment isn't until July. I have a feeling that I am going to back to seeing him once a month for a while. Thanks for letting me rant.

I had my RNY and a section of my small intestine cut out and repaired because it was dying last Wednesday. I read all the threads where people are having all these issues and I haven't had anything go wrong. I had no gas pain, I can get all my fluids in and then some. I can even take a normal size drink instead of a sip, I caught myself doing it a second ago. I am not sore or nauseous. Haven't had to take one pain or nausea pill since leaving the hospital. I even cleaned my house on my second day home from the hospital. I have so much energy I can't sit still. I have lost 10 pounds. Is this normal or am I just lucky?

Top 10 things you want to be able to do after the surgery
jtickle replied to mal0712's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 days post op and I haven't had any cravings. My husband got himself some food while I was in the hospital and the smell of it made me sick. I will admit it's really strange watching him eat while I am on this liquid diet. He eats a lot. I can't believe how much food I used to eat. I don't want to go back to that. -
RNY June 26, 2014, woohoo!
jtickle replied to latido's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to take my pills in 10 minute increments to keep them from getting stuck. In other words, take one pill and wait ten minutes then take another. I only have to take one huge pill and that's my prilosec. It kinda hurts when it goes down. The rest of my meds are small. -
Weigh In- Favorite Protein Shakes?
jtickle replied to AshleePage's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon's office told me I could only use their bariatric advantage and celebrate mixes. I prefer the brand I can get at sam's club. They are also 45 dollars cheaper than the stuff at the doctor's office. I checked the nutritional information on a tub of both bariatric advantage and premier protein. They are the basically same thing. -
My day one was the day after surgery.

Hello, I'm 4 days post op, new to group. (Gastric bypass patient)
jtickle replied to KelliM73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I had my surgery last Wednesday and I feel great. No gas pains at all. I had to walk every hour at the hospital. Most of the pain I had from gas was concentrated up under my lungs so I had I real hard time breathing. Other than that, I have no pain or nausea. I hate the liquid diet simply because I want something with flavor. Sugar free jello just isn't cutting it. I'm not hungry at all. I have lost 8 pounds since surgery. I think that's a good start. -
Bariatric Advantage and Celebrate Shakes

I have to purchase a package from the surgeons office that consist of two Bariatric Advantage flavors and two Celebrate shake flavors. Has anyone tried these shakes? I am just looking for some insight. -
Bariatric Advantage and Celebrate Shakes

I was told at my pre-op appointment that I didn't have to buy their starter kit. I could of saved myself 250 dollars. Their dietitian, who is not working there anymore told me I had no choice but to buy it. Also at my pre-op appointment they said I could only drink the shakes they sell in their office. I'm not paying 50 a tub for protein that I can cheaper at sam's club. -
My bipolar is just fine. When I first got my date I had some anxiety issues because I didn't want to wait two months for surgery, but that went away closer my date got. Other than that my bipolar is well under control with my current meds.

How long before showering?
jtickle replied to Dawnakers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allowed to shower the next day. That was the first thing I did when I got home. -
I am doing great. Had my surgery last Wednesday. I have no pain or nausea. Even did some light house cleaning yesterday. The only issue I really had is getting the 64 ounces of fluids in, I'm having to put stuff in my water to give it some flavor. I used to love plain water. Other than that I am doing just fine. Not really having problems with gas, I walked most of that off in the hospital. It was mainly concentrated up under my lungs, never felt it in my shoulders. I hope everyone else is doing well.

not your usual protein shake question
jtickle replied to jtickle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree if it has everything in it that I need, I should be able use anyone I chose. -
Got home from the hospital yesterday. Just had some gas pain, but it wasn't to bad. Didn't sleep good at all in the hospital, turned out I was allergic to the detergent they use on their linens. So I am broke out all over the place. Other than that I am doing just fine. I am able to get all my fluids in.
