    Wheat Thins

I'm not even allowed a cracker until 3 months out. It's amazing how programs differ.

    Post-Op Sweets

I agree with everyone on the Greek yogurt or fruit. Sf cookies and Popsicles have sugar alcohols in them which can be just as bad sugar. Plus being as early out as you are, you could really cause some problems for your new stomach being eating cookies or wafers. Besides, not trying to be rude, but didn't the cookies and other stuff like that get us to point of needing to have surgery to lose weight. I'd stick with the healthy stuff.

    New to this forum

Welcome!!! I have many comorbidities as well. Diabetes, pcos, Gerd, stress incontinence, etc.... I had the RNY on June 25th and I feel awesome. I have lost almost 60 pounds and my blood sugar is normal for the first time in years. I don't have heartburn anymore. I go to the gym 6 days a week for hour or so. I had no pain or nausea after surgery. The only food I have had problems with is tuna. It definitely got stuck. Anyway, that being said. Do all the homework you can about before your surgery. You will do far better if you are prepared.
  5. I wouldn't wish sciatica on my worst enemy. The stimulator has reduced the pain in my leg at least 90%. Which is really good considering most people get about 50% pain relief. My incision was still draining yesterday and is swollen this morning. My stimulator battery is still quite painful and my lower back is very stiff. I am on 750mg of Levaquin. That the largest dose of the antibiotic that you can get in pill form. If my back is not doing better by Monday I have to call the doc and check in with him to see what I need to do. I'm sure I will end up with a bunch if blood work and some kind of scan to check for Fluid in my back. I have already been through this before with my first spinal fusion surgery. I had a staph infection that landed me in hospital for 9 days and 6 weeks of home IV antibiotics. Hope everyone is having a good morning!!

    Do you see your progress?

I have lost 60 pounds. I look tremendously different to everyone but me. I still see the 325 pound person.

    Pre op help me ?

Most protein powders are nasty unless they are mixed with milk. I used 0% milk in mine. The bariatric advantage shakes say use water, the nutritionist said mix those with milk as well. Almond milk is going to make them taste even more nasty, in my opinion. If your are not lactose intolerant try then with milk.

    Very Pre-Op and Exercise

I go to the gym 6 days a week for a hour or so. I either power walk for 60 minutes on the treadmill or use the bike for 10 to 12 miles, usually about 45 minutes. I felt like crap afterward until I started taking in more protein. I get close to a 100 grams of protein in a day. It gives you energy and helps your muscles heal. Try that and see if it helps, if not I would consult the nutritionist, to see if a change in your diet is necessary.

    feel crapy

You are not going crazy. I have been unstoppable since surgery. No pain, no nausea. Once the morphine was out of my system, I was up cleaning and doing other chores. I have no problems getting all my protein in and fluids in for the day. At two weeks, I started going to the gym 6 days a week. I either power walk on the treadmill for an hour or ride the bike for 10 to 12 miles, usually about 45 minutes to an hour on the bike. I want to start running on the treadmill but I am scared I am going to fall. Anyway, I am glad I am not alone. The issues I have had is with tuna getting stuck and now I have an infection in one of my incisions. However, I think the infection stems from my spinal cord stimulator implant. It has been hurting extremely bad the last few days and today I ended up with abscess looking incision that popped and a ton of green gunk come out of it. It is still leaking. I think the main part of the infection is in my back. I called the back doctor about the pain with the stimulator battery yesterday and they scheduled me to see the doctor on Tuesday. I am going to call them in the morning and inform that I have an infection. Sorry that I rambled about my back. You are not alone with feeling great. Enjoy it!!!! Keep me posted on how you are doing.

    Personal trainer

I am going to school to become an exercise physiologist. I was going to school for nursing but I decided I love exercise so much why not do that and help people. So I changed my major.
  13. One of my incisions swelled up like a an abscess and popped this afternoon. A lot of green gunk came out of it. I called the doctor and emailed him some pics. It's infected. The problem is I have spinal cord stimulator implant in my hip that is hurting really bad as well. It was implanted in February. I could almost bet that the implant is infected as well. This is not good. If it is I may have to go thru another back surgery, already have had six. Hoping for the best.
  14. I had to put the scale away because I am obsessed with weighing myself. I managed not to weigh myself for 3 days and I got a nice surprise this I had lost 4 pounds. I am less than a hundred pounds to goal. Super excited!! Scale is staying in the closet.

    Clothing sizes

Clothing sizes are awful. I bought two pair of jeans from Cato several months ago, before my surgery. They were both 24s. One fit just fine, the other more like a size 20. I couldn't even get them on. I liked the design on the back pocket and I knew I was having WLS so I didn't take them back. Now that I can actually wear 20s the jeans fit.
  16. Don't be jealous. When I stalled I gained 8 pounds. I was so mad. The scale just made it worse that's why I put the scale up in my closet.

    Hiding the scale!

I put my scale up this weekend. I will weigh myself several times a day if given the opportunity. After 3 days of not weighing, I broke down and did it this morning. I have lost 4 pounds, I am so happy. Scale is back in the closet and that's where it will be until next week. I have a doctor's appointment every week this month. S I will see plenty of their scales. Mine is the only one that tells the truth.
  18. I started freaking out thinking I wasn't losing fast enough. I have lost 56 pounds on two months. At this rate I will have lost 100 pounds in 4 months. That is probably fast enough, I guess seeing those number fluctuate really put doubts in my head that I was doing the right thing. Plus when I stalled I was really upset. Luckily it only lasted about 2 weeks. I am glad I put it in the closet. It's going to stay there until sometime next week.

    Anyone else saying...

I love my protein shakes!!!! Without those guys I wouldn't get all my protein in a day. Can't wait for my pb2 to come in so I can spruce them up.
  20. jtickle

    Portion sizes

My program started us on 4oz of protein right after the liquid diet was over. Sometimes I get the whole 4oz in sometimes I don't. Depends on how dense the protein is. We only get fruits or veggies if we have room. I try to get a veggie in there every now and then for some fiber.
  21. In my program, you don't get to meet the surgeon until you are approved.
  22. jtickle

    Expectations?

Bigger people will lose weight faster. I have lost 56 pounds in 2 months. I thought I was doing something wrong cause I wasn't losing a pound a day like I was on the liquid diet. Turns out we are all different and you shouldn't compare yourself to others. The best thing u can do for yourself is put the scale away. Weigh like every other week, so when to u see a loss on the scale it will be a reward instead of discouraging when you have weight fluctuations. I had to do this. A couple of pounds a week is realistic.
  23. jtickle

    Week 3 plateau?

I stalled at the same time. You will lose inches during your stall. I increased my exercise and just lost more inches. Finally when it broke two weeks later, I lost 13 pounds in 3 days. Then another 4 pounds 2 days later. I don't know how many inches I have lost, but I dropped from a 26 to an 18/20 in 3 weeks. Don't let the stall discourage you.
  24. Everyone is right these girls are not worth it. I could understand them disliking me if I was bragging about my weight loss but I haven't. I try to keep to myself cause I figured someone would get jealous if I talked to much about it. I am starting school in the spring, hopefully I will make some new friends then. Until then I will just focus on getting healthier.
