  1. My surgeons office just took a before picture. I was so excited about surgery all I did was take some pics of me. However that didn't work, because my husband deleted them off my phone. I was so mad.

    Polish and nails

They want your nails clear so the pulse ox can read the amount of oxygen in your blood. I'm a respiratory therapist, nothing is more annoying then painted fingernails. They must be clear no paint what so ever. I couldn't have acrylic nails at all for my surgery.

    Buffet restaurants?

Our doctor gave a card stating that we had a gastric procedure. If the server doesn't honor it, speak with a manager. They will allow u to order off the child's menu. It's not illegal. That's for regular restaurants not buffets.
  4. Medicare does pay for the sleeve and the bypass. You have to jump thru all the hoops like regular insurance. I didn't use my Medicare on my surgery, I just used my husband's insurance. His insurance didn't require a six month diet or a psych evaluation. All I needed was to be over 18, bmi of 40, and bariatric center of excellence. Medicare requires all that stuff.

    Buffet restaurants?

I'm the food police. Please stay away from the buffet. It isn't your friend. Save some money go to Chipotle.

    What if this is it?

I stalled for two weeks at about three weeks out from surgery. I kept exercising and I dropped four pants sizes in those two weeks but not an ounce of weight. I also I had to put the scale away. I was weighing myself several times a day. I was becoming really upset. Now I only weigh myself every couple of days. It's much better that way, so u don't see the weight fluctuations, which do happen. When my stall finally broke, I lost 13 pounds in 3 days. I have been slowly loosing ever sense. Just follow your program and your stall will come to an end. I have learned to patient, we didn't gain weight overnight, so we aren't going to lose it over night. Keep us updated on how you are doing. Good luck!!
  7. I am so excited. I know this has nothing to do with surgery, but I have to tell someone. So why not tell the forum. I am having my first job interview since I had all my spine surgeries in 2012. I was terminated from my last job because I got a staph infection and was not able to return to work at the time I was supposed too. Kinda unfair, but life isn't fair. Took me a while to get over feeling like a failure. Anyway, I really hope I get this job. Sometimes I always had this thought in the back of my head I wasn't getting a job because of my weight. Hopefully, tomorrow will be different, plus I am well qualified for this job. Wish me luck!!! The only problem I have is I have no interview clothes because I have no money to buy them. So I am going to wear my doc martens, nice jeans and a nice top.

    NSV of sorts.

If I don't I won't be hurt to much, I am on social security. I planned on going back to school in the spring. I would rather get off the social security though.
  9. I would say riding my bicycle or running on the treadmill at the gym. Not really an outdoor runner.
  10. I have a transfer addiction to exercise. I go to the gym everyday, I have to limit myself to an hour or i could probably stay in there for hours. I look at it this way at least I am not addicted to food anymore.
  11. I can understand the cream soup thing, I was excited about having some cream of chicken soup a couple of weeks back. I ate the whole 10 oz can, I just ran right thru my stomach just like a protein shake. As for mashed potatoes, I have had them a couple of times but just 2 oz at a time. I don't want to fall back into the old habit of eating unhealthy.

    not so sweet protein drinks?

Yeah I meant 0% milk, still kinda sleepy. I get pb2 off of Amazon.com, it's 10.50 for two containers of it. I guess you could try it with water. My program wants us to make all our shakes with milk. It amazes me how each program is different.

    not so sweet protein drinks?

I make my own protein shakes. I use 8oz of 0% kill a serving of pb2 and a half of a banana. A scoop of unflavored protein powder. Sometimes I change it and use frozen unsweetened berries instead of the pb2 and banana. About a quarter to half cup of berries does the trick. Depending on much shake you want. Throw it all in the blender and make a smoothie.
  14. I have a tungsten wedding band. I bought the warranty plan that included getting a new ring if I needed a smaller size. Tungsten cannot be sized. I am going to wait until my weight stabilizes before I order another one. I get most of my rings from the epiphany line from QVC. It cannot be sized because it's platinum plated. I do have one real gold Diamonique ring that will have to sized. I can't wait to be able to wear a necklace with the standard 18 inch chain instead of a 20 or 24 inch chain.
  15. I don't have a bunch of friends and the two that I am closest to have ditched me because I am losing weight. One of them was so jealous she took it upon herself to post all my health issues on Facebook after I unfriended her. The reason I know she did this is because she was still Facebook friends with my husband and I seen the post on his page. She has since blocked us. They other friend was all kinds of curious about the surgery until she realized I have lost over 50 pounds in two months. She hasn't talked to me in weeks except one text message asking me if one of her friends, a girl who treated me like crap in high school, could have my clothes that are to big. I told her no. Haven't heard from her since. I have one other friend who lives 500 miles from me, we went to college together. She is totally supportive of what I am doing. She knows several people who have had a bypass and she knows it is not easy. I don't understand why my other two former friends are so jealous they feel they can't be happy for me.
  16. The friend I totally got rid of, took it upon herself to broadcast all my health issues on facebook. I had unfriended her, but I seen the post on my husbands facebook page. I should of got rid of her in 2009 when I had a mental breakdown and I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She would tell anyone that would listen to her, but I am a forgiving person.
  17. I actually was told on another forum for WLS that I had a transfer addiction to exercise. I was like that's fine at least I'm not addicted to food anymore. Even though I did sneak some ranch dressing last night. Anyway, a bunch forum members ganged up on me, saying I exercise to much and I need psychological help. That loosing weight is 90% diet, 10% exercise. If that's true my surgeon must be a lair. One of them told me how proud he was of his 80 pound weight loss in 40 months. I asked him why he had surgery if he just needed to loose 2 pounds a month. They were mean and rude.
  18. I am doing fine, I had little infection in one of my incisions, but its doing great. I am on 3 antibiotics for it. One of my friends has come around the other has not, so I cut ties with her and let her go. My life isn't any different without her. The friend that came around understands why i had the surgery. I wanted it to get rid of my comorbidities, especially the diabetes. She is trying to keep me from going to the gym so much though. I go 6 days a week for an hour. The doctor said to go 5 days a weeks for 30 to 60 minutes.
  19. I have an anxiety disorder. I have had a gastric bypass though, but I doubt there is any difference in anxiety levels after either surgery. I take 2 valium a day for my anxiety. I haven't had an anxiety attack or anything like that since surgery. Taking my first bite of food was a little nerve racking but that was it.

    Average Weight Loss?

I agree. Everyone loses different, but if it will make you feel better, I lose on average about 1.3 pounds a day, but i have had a bypass.
  21. Yesterday I bought my very first pair of womens athletic shorts. They are an XL, this is nothing short of a miracle considering I was a 3x bottom a month ago. I also got a pair of compression pants too. I usually get men's reebok or nike athletic shorts from Sam's Club. They have them for about 15 dollars a pair. Which is way better than paying full price for them. Just wanted to share my exciting moment.
  22. Nothing has made me dump yet. I have even tried a couple things that shouldn't have. I guess my sample just wasn't enough to make me sick. I tried about a teaspoon of key lime frosting, a tater tot, and tonight I had a single fish stick. But I needed something to take my pills with the other day, didn't have any applesauce so I had to use apple butter. Didn't make me sick either. I am beginning to wonder if anything will give it to me. I have even been out to dinner and had a shrimp taco salad. Took me two days to eat it and I felt great.
  23. I had to take some paperwork to my neurosurgeon's office this morning. The last time I was in there, I was 325 pounds. I am now 268. To me I don't look that much different, but she had to do a double take when I walked into her office. I guess I look that much different. I have dropped from a 26 to an 18. It feels good to know all my hard work is paying off.
  24. I have an infection in one of tummy incisions. It has draining dark green gunk for two days. My surgeon put me on Levaquin for seven days. I also have a spinal cord stimulator implant. The battery portion of it has been hurting for about 5 days now. The doctor in charge of the stimulator thinks my severe battery pain and my tummy infection are related. This is not good considering I have a history of really bad staph infections. I have been told that if it doesn't quit hurting, I will have to have it looked at. The stimulator helps with sciatica leg pain. Which I have in both legs. I can't exercise without it. However, if there is an infection around it, they have to remove it. Which means back surgery number 7. When it rains it pours at my house. Thanks for letting me vent.
