I have a major crush on my neurosurgeon, he is in his 50s but he is so good looking... Lol. I'm 34. He has done six surgeries on me and I get so happy when I get to go see him for follow ups. You're not alone.

I was approved today and I got a date today. My big day is June 25th. My preop is June 19th. I shouldn't have to pay anything because my out of pocket and deductible have been met. I am so excited.

Congrats!! I have UHC Choice Plus and they are taking forever on my case. I called them today and the rep told me I can call in tomorrow and request a rush on it since my surgery date is May 6th. Hopefully, they will just be done with it tomorrow. Again, congrats on the approval. I hope your surgery and recovery go smoothly.

Has anyone told you that this surgery is too drastic?
jtickle replied to mommyjamie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My mother in law thought the surgery was to drastic until she found out that my diabetes is out of control. Luckily she seen some good things about it on TV, no she is all for it. Truthfully your decision to do the surgery is really no one else's business. -
Drummer girl- my surgery is scheduled for May 6th, but my insurance hasn't approved either. Even if I get approved I am having my surgery in June. My insurance requires a date of service in order to complete my file. I am confident that I will get approved, but I do have the fear that I will be denied even though I have met all the requirements and then some.

3 Jun surgery date but worried about a1c to high
jtickle replied to lockhb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My A1c was 10.8 in March. The surgeon wants it lower than 10 in order to do surgery. I had rechecked a couple of weeks ago and it was 9.8. They did my chart review and I passed. Now I am just waiting for insurance company to give me an answer. I called them and they said it would probably be Monday before they have a decision. I am confident I will get approved but I still worry about the denial stuff. -
I am glad it all worked for you. I just called the insurance company to check on things and they told me that the turn over time is 3 to 5 days. She said they should have a determination on Monday. I'm getting nervous, I'm confident that I won't be denied, but I still have the fear that I am going to be denied.

I was told last week that info had been sent to the insurance company. Come to find out that insurance coordinator was not even there last week. So I called them yesterday and was told it would be before the end of the week. I was fine with that I understand she was out all last week. I called today to check on it and was told it could be next week. So what is it this week, next week, maybe sometime in the near future? I am so ticked off right now. My expensive insurance is paying their salaries I expect to be treated with respect not like they are doing me a favor.

Insurance companies can make something as simple as typing and printing a letter so difficult. It probably wouldn't take 5 minutes to fix the issue. I hope they come to a resolution soon. They send us to these to psych evaluations so we can talk about the things that stress us. In my experience it been the doctor's office and the insurance company causing all my stress. They gave the insurance a dummy date of May 6th. Hopefully my surgery will be sometime in May even though I was thinking June. They have three surgeon's where I go so maybe I will get lucky.

Called UHC this morning and the surgeon's office gave the insurance a dummy date of may 6th. Maybe I will get lucky and have surgery in May. I will have to have later in May because I don't get paid until the 14. I have to buy a bunch of mandatory protein drinks and vitamins. They call it the starter pack. It's 250 dollars. That should be all I have to pay out pocket, seeing that my out of pocket and deductible have been met.

Finally after being told that my info had been submitted four times. It was actually sent to insurance this afternoon. I have a whole list of comorbidities, so as of right now I am feeling pretty confident.

A1C too high for surgery?
jtickle replied to kellypesce's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My A1c was 10.8 when i did my new patient labs. The surgeon wanted less than 10 for surgery. I lost 7 pounds and it went down to 9.8. Thank goodness. It supposed to be submitted to insurance this week some time, hopefully. -
I am sorry you were denied. Can you appeal?
-
I called the surgeon's office today and my info will be sent to the insurance company today. I am so excited! Hoping for a speedy approval.

Some insurance companies need a date of service along with your info. I have UHC and I had surgery on my back in February. A soon as they found out a date of service, they actually went faster giving me a decision.

Waiting for approval! Driving me crazy!
jtickle replied to Luckyinluv's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have UHC and they will tell me 15 days, 21 days or a month. Just depends on the rep you talk to. It's took about a week or so to get approval, but it was special type surgery for a spinal cord stimulator. It had to have two approvals. I am hoping for a speedy process for my wls. -

I'm waiting for my surgeon's office to send my stuff to insurance. Once they do its on. I will call the insurance company everyday to check on it. I did it with my last surgery and no one every got mad at me. I figure I pay a small fortune for my insurance, so I can call when ever I want. -
I called the surgeon's office and my case will be sent to the insurance company on Friday or Monday. I feel little better now, just a little. Probably going to be anxious until I know it's in the insurance company's hands.
-
I am doing to my best at the waiting game. I usually call them just once a day in the afternoon. I would love to constantly badger them but I am trying to be polite. This is honestly the worst part of the whole process.
-
I am doing alright I guess, I am finding it difficult waiting for the surgeon's office to submit my info to insurance. My chart was only in medical review for two days. I have been told three different stories by the same person. First she said it would be submitted last week, turns out the insurance coordinator wasn't even there last week. Then she told me it would be before the end of the week, now she says sometime next week. I try not to call and bother the clinic, but I am just so frustrated.
-
I actually don't mind the insurance company, they told me I could call anytime I needed to. They are very nice. I am just mad at the surgeon's office for not having a straight story. If it going to be next week that's fine just tell me that. I am very polite when I call the doctor's office and the lady I always get stuck talking to is very rude. I am trying very hard to be patient, but I have anxiety issues an they are starting to bother me. I am hardly able to sleep I am so worried about all this and I am finding it very difficult to stick to preop diet because I am wondering if it is going to worth it.
-
My info should be to sent to insurance sometime this week. It would of been last week but insurance coordinator was not in the office. Now she is playing catch up. I feel so bad because I am fussing to everyone about having to wait an extra few days to be submitted and many you guys and gals have to wait 3 months, 6 months, or even longer to complete your journeys and I just started mine on March 3rd of this year. I am very anxious about this whole ordeal. I want to get excited but I am afraid I am going to be denied. I meet all the qualifications and I have a whole laundry list of comorbidities. Is it normal to be anxious, nervous, and excited all at the same time? I wish everyone well.

UnitedHealth Care Choice Plus, longest wait?
jtickle replied to butterfly2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Butterfly2014- good luck with your surgery this week. My paperwork is going to insurance this week, hoping for a speedy outcome. -
I knew you could do it. I have been on the liver shrink diet since March 3rd and my surgery hasn't even approved yet. I will admit it I have fallen off the band wagon for the last couple of days. I am really stressed about my case being submitted to insurance this week. I am going to get right back on it tomorrow, it's a new day.

New, Nervous, and Anxious
jtickle replied to britleigh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an EGD a week and a half ago. Mine was a 700 dollars. I live in Northwest Arkansas. I didn't have to pay anything up-front. My deductible and out of pocket has been met though.
