  1. So my surgery is next week... just a few days away! I have a nutribullet, but I am not sure what to put in it for Phase 2 (the phase before the 5 week mark). Protein powder? Fruit? Veggies? Any ideas for me out there? I am doing my pre-op diet now and I am actually bored with it- I was thinking of concocting some protein and fruit smoothies.... Thanks!
  2. So Aetna finally approved my sleeve for May 29. Been on preop diet since last Thursday and it's been ok. But I am pretty sure I have a sinus infection now with the weather back and forth lately my allergies have come and gone now for a while. This weekend I have felt achy had low grade fever and sinuses feel sore, etc.etc. UPDATE: So I guess this posted before I was done with original post. I was going to ask advice on seeing my primary doc for treating sinus infection, as it turns out, I did that Monday Sure enough- sinus infection and Z pack.
  3. Yay Slimindown! We can def cheer each other on! How is your pre-op diet going? First few days were tough, then it got much easier... until I went to a major league baseball game with my family lol. I had my water and protein and stuff, so I was good- but all around me people eating nachos, chili dogs, ice cream, drinking beer lol it was a bit trying!
  4. Hi, so just waiting on ins approval now to schedule surgery. My mom is coming to town to help me and family out for the 2 weeks post op, and to make it easier on her I would like an idea of what food items I might want to stock the pantry with for my post recovery (besides of course Protein shakes). I know I will start on standard Clear liquids the first few days, with the normal sleeve progression as time passes, so what else should I stock up on? Kind of on same topic, what sort of things could I do/set up to make things easier on her when she is here helping me out? Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help!
  5. Yup. I am currently in the high 180s, but I also am a shorty with apnea, terrible cholesterol, reflux, and on my way to full blown diabetes. Rather take things in hand now than to let things get worse, and I know they would!

    So nervous

So I have had my psch eval, my weight records sent to my surgeon, and an appt with the nutritionist. My ins requires a 3 month doctor monitored weight loss program, which I am now undergoing- so far it is at my surgeon's office, and they are having me start to make small changes in preparation for the surgery (getting off carbonated beverages, more walking, etc). If all goes wellI shouldbe sleeved some time in April. But I am nervous... I have failed on soooo many diets before, and we are paying about 11K out of pocket for this... what if it does not work? Or what if it works then I gain it all back? Hubby waxes hot and cold about the surgery. On one hand, he loves me and supports me on doing what it takes to have a healthier, longer life. On the other hand, he has told me he is afraid I wont be able to stick with it and lose the weight... I can't blame him, we have been married for 18 years so he is well aware olf my history. But before this, i was feeling so confident and excited, now doubts are creeping in. Has anyone else been in my shoes and went ahead and did the surgery? Were you successful? Did you have any regrets? Thanks so much for your help, I am glad to have found these forums- people here seem to be incredibly supportive! Beth
  7. Hi, I am new to this site, and excited yet very scared all at the same time! I have had GERD for about 10 years now, I wondered how the surgery affected others with GERD? Better? worse? same? What sort of test were required prior to the operation? I also have a sensitive gag reflex, and I am worried about that. I actually only swallow the smallest of pills when I take my meds (otherwise I cut them up or take a liquid instead). I am nervou because I read that when I wake up from the operation, I will have a breathing tube and maybe a feeding tube down my throat? Or I may have a line run down into my throat for draining after surgery? Is that true? I am scared to death I will return to conciousness and start gagging and choking uncontrollably I know I am probably being a big ol' baby, but I am not even scared of the pain of recovery (of course I have gone through recovery for a c-section and for apnea surgery, where they cut out tonsils/uvula/palate and insert a screw in my jaw- I figure it could not be much worse than the pain I dealt with recovering from those), just gagging/choking. Thanks in advance for your help! Beth
  8. I met with the dietician a few days ago, and although she had sample packs of vitamins, she did not have any of the protein drink samples. Does anyone know where I might find these, either online or in North Dallas/Frisco/Mckinney area or Texas? I would hate to buy something that tastes nasty or has an awful texture, and get stuck drinking that- so I would like to sample some different types prior to surgery. Thanks! Beth
