    fast food!

I get packages of jerky and sliced cheese and crackers and just put it in a baggie and take that for lunch. I also like the laughing cow cheese and they are pre wrapped. I also like the peanut butter to gos that are pre packaged for easy lunch on the go. I like chocolare muscle milk lights. For fast dinner, a packet of frozen rice with cheese and broccoli works and I cannot eat it all. I also go to some canned soups or premade soups like chicken noodle for a quick meal. I also sometimes make a little quesadilla out of a corn tortilla, a little shredded cheese and salsa-add beans is really hungry and it makes a good dinner.

16 days Post-Op, Sad & full of regret

When you start seeing the results you will feel that it is worth it. I had some post op regrets but I have moved past that due to the results I am seeing and I am getting better about being able to have a glass of wine with dinner. I went through a tough time when I realized my relationship with food had to completely change. It will pass...judt give yourself the chance to enjoy what you can. The diet does get better and is less restrictive later on. Hang in there!!

    metabolism

I would say due to the issue of metabolism reset is a non issue with what I have experienced. I think at times we hit a stall due to the body hitting that plateau, but it doesn't last long and you change up your diet a bit or exercise a bit more and you will start losing again. The surgery helps, but you still have to do some work to acheive the loss you want. I am only 3 months along and have lost about 40 lbs...so I am not an expert, but can tell you I have not had to worry about my metabolism. The weight loss and speed of loss is pretty amazing and beats anything I have tried before hands down. Wish I had done it sooner.....

    Getting in protein on pureé?

One week1/2 I was having issues and did a protein shake called muscle milk light. They are small and 20 grams of protein. $30 for a case at costco. I was mostly on broth, cream soups. I had a hard time with refried beans but I occasionally tried. I am 2 months out now and have a better time but still can only eat really smapl portions. Thank god for peanut butter and crackers.
  8. You have to do what feels right for you. If you think you will have success at losing with just doing the diet ok fine. Myself? That doesn't work for me. I have been dieting and gaining for 10 years now. My problem is not the food its how I respond to food. I am an emotional eater I eat for fun, out of boredom, stress. So while a traditional diet may work for my friend who needs to just drop 20.lbs-at 265 lbs and an emotional eating issue-um weight watchers cannot even touch my issues...I need professional help here. Lmao!!

    what to drink?

I really like crystal light peach mango tea but so far its the only flavor I can stand. I also water down lemonade and drink that. Also, light or sugar free cranberry juice wuth some ice and I add a little water is giod. I am down with hot herbal tea-all kinds. Coco water is a bit drying to my palette, but I was putting it in smoothies. Love orange spice tea no caffeine and a bit of sugar. Only thing that gives me heartburn is red wine so far, anyway.

    Problems - can you help?

Did you rest and stay down for most of the days when you first came home? I did not leave the couch and the Dr left my butterfly bandaids over the top of the incisions and I didn't move much for the first 5-6 days. They closed up well I am 2 months post op. Get a second opinion and go see your General practitioner like tomm. You need to give your body the rest it needs to get better. I could not get all the Fluid and Protein in, I think I still don't get everything I should in, but your stomach is tiny. Go see your personal Dr, share your concern. Avoid any activity, have a friend come over and do some cleaning/housework for you.

Did you keep it a secret?

I think it is up to you what you are comfortable sharing. Lets face it, as chubby/fat/plus size women we have been looked down on by someone at some time...so protecting yourself from more emotional drama is just that-protection and avoiding possible judgement if you feel you will be perceived that way. I did tell my man and my mom. I asked my mom to keep it quiet, of course, she told a friend or two. However, almost all the women in my family have had botox, facelifts, boob jobs, lipo and some have had more than others. I see it no differently-I may tell them now that its already done. I think its a personal decision.

    2 Questions

I am 4 mos with GSV. I have lost about 40 lbs. I just bought 2 pairs of size 16 pants today-was hitting a big 20 before. Spicy I still have trouble with, at times - my palette has totally changed as well right after surgery I did not crave spicy-I did crave fatty but knew I couldn't eat it. Restaurants I get really frustrated because I want a drink and an app and an enntree-like I used to eat. I order a drink but then cannot finish it ever in the hour we are there. I really miss an app and a cocktail together. For apps, I can do potstickers (2 chewed very slow) and I know its not good, but I can have 1 sm eggroll. I had a crab cocktail for dinner one night, shrimp cocktail one time. Soup works, and even a small quesadilla is ok if its not too cheesy. I usually take about half my food home in a box so I usually get something that reheats well. I just had a piece of pizza first time yesterday and it really freaked my tummy out for like an hour-I think its all the dough. I do not eat much bread, no soda, no red meat, no full sugar juice-I water down all juices and have not had any OJ yet. Frozen yogurt has become my guilty pleasure but I can't eat more than an ounce or two at a time and I usually go for the no sugar version. Noodles like a ramen (fresh) type is good and goes down easy so japanese restaurants and vietnamese are good options for the noodle soups. I did a lot of tomato soup at first and I would do chicken meatballs in marinara without any pasta. I now make the pasta and add ricotta and skim mozz for added protein. Meat does not digest as easily and fills me a lot faster so I still have to be careful. We have better luck with breakfast out since eggs are easy and lighter. Ijust hate the waste of $50 and still not really enjoying the experience of dining out. I do hope it returns as I do like to be able to enjoy the dining out experience.

    Introductions

My advice is to do your research-know the costs all in beforehand. Check out a few DR's if you can. Make sure their stats are good and that they appeal to you. Feeling optimistic is easy because it works. It really does. In just around 75 days, 8 weeks I have dropped 40 Lbs. I do follow the recommendations on diet. My tummy was really sore after. Look up and know what you can eat. Don't buy so much food at the store-I waste a lot of groceries-still a habit I am breaking. I just made turkey chili the other night. It was really good but I can only eat about 3 oz of it. I eat everything out of ramekins-thats the serving size and I was a big portion girl. Not anymore-can barely ever finish the food on any plate. Its amazing. Its scary. Its positive and it works. Its hard and I miss pizza and bread and soda. I hated liquid phase, it seems like forever when you are on it, but it jump starts the loss and your tummy cannot handle real food. However, I live on and I am shedding the fat suit that I wore like a champ for way too long....enjoy and wish you the best-surgery was a great choice for me. I almost did lap band but when I talked to the Drs they all told me that sleeve is better. So I glad I listened.

    1 month & 1 week post op

Totally ubderstand the feeling.of not accepting it yet...I have gotten there now, but it took a long time. I have lost 40 lbs in 10 weeks. I started eating frozen yogurt and the loss slowed a little-like yogurtland kind! Uh oh! I did not see the loss until literally like a few days ago. It's not yet the loss I am looking for but considering its only been 2 1/2 months-I like the results. So today I put on a suit that had been sitting in my closet due to the way it clung to my thighs. Would have not fit me pre op, but now, almost 2 sizes down I was a size 20 suit, this one is an 18 and the pants are too big, like fabric hanging off. I wore it today and got like 5 compliments from the team. I was like wow-it is fully recognizeable now, its happening. Bummer is my bra size is down too, I am wearing a bra size down and on the lowest hooks!! I will have to start exercise soon since I feel flabbier. Not sure why..oh and I have to use a ton more lotion than I used to. Whats with the dry skin?? Maybe less omegas or fats in the diet? Finally adjusting in the bedroom. Sex is better now but for a little while was a bit uncomfortable with the incisions. My tummy still hurts sometimes. I get a stomach ache if I eat too much. I am learning, but when I am stressed I still try and eat but my pouch doesn't really let me over eat. Amazed by the new intensity of the flavor provided in tea. Once the sugar wears off, or gets flushed out, its like your palette totally changes. I have such a newfound love for tea. It's weird what happens when you stop eating like crap.
