  1. You look great!!!!!! My weight loss has been painfully slow the past two weeks. I've been back at work and I've been so tired when I get home that I haven't been doing a lot of working out. But I've still lost inches. I bought a shirt at old navy two weekends ago and it was super tight and I tired it on this morning and it fit perfect. My plan for the next two weeks is to get more protein in. I'm working out by tilling my garden by hand. I joined planet fitness this weekend but it doesn't open for two more weeks.
  2. I had my surgery March 4th. I haven't had any issues with dumping. I'm still tired sometimes, but I can deal. If I absolutely had to, I could have gone back to work after two weeks.
  3. There may be other threads like this, but I thought I'd start a new one here, so everyone could contribute no matter which surgery you had. One of my big inspirations is looking at everyone's before and after pics. I've spent hours on Instagram looking at people's pics so. I thought others might feel inspired too so if you feel comfortable share your before and after pictures here. I'm only 7 weeks out (RNY) but I'll start. My BFF had surgery a year ago. We went to the zoo two years ago and when we went back this weekend we thought it would be fun to find the picture we took then and take similar ones now. I was at my high weight then, and at my current weight in the 2nd pic. I still have a long way to go obviously, but I was pretty happy with the difference so far.
  4. I love this thread! I think I've lost a shoe size. I've always worn a 11w or a 12. I've never just been able to buy shoes. I always have to find wide sizes, or some place that carries a 12 and they're aren't many. Today on a whim, I tried on a regular 11 and they actually fit! I wanted to buy every pair in the store, but I stopped myself at 1.
  5. Mine was March 4th I've lost 33lb since day of surgery not including what I lost on my liquid diet. So it sounds like I'm just a bit ahead of you. My weight loss has slowed down a lot the past week or two. It's just going to take time. If sounds like you're doing good. Of course I wish I was losing 1-2 lbs a day, but I know it will happen eventually. Also remember the smaller you are, the slower you're going to loose. I see your starting weight was 265, mine was 291. Most of the people who loose 40-50lbs a month like you see on TV have much higher starting weights.
  6. I haven't had any issues with it. I'm almost two months out. Even during the liquid phase, it was liquid but completely controllable. I actually have the opposite problem now and have to drink some Smooth Moves tea a few nights a week to keep things moving along.
  7. Nope. They should only be told that your leave is approved and for what dates. None of your medical info should be disclosed.
  8. I was really worried about telling my best friend. She is very self conscious about her weight( who isn't). We both have always been heavy but she lost quite a bit of weight and then started gaining it back. I didn't give her enough credit though, she has been very supportive. She even gave me a bunch of her smaller clothes.
  9. I took 6 weeks of short term and was also approved for FMLA during this time. I didn't have to tell my employer anything other than I was going to be on short term. All of our HR is handled off site and short term/FMLA claims are handled by MetLife. My manager also had WLS so I told her early on.
  10. I told my close friends at work and my boss who had lap band surgery. But I kept it really quite. So far it's worked out really well. I think most people know, but have also figured out I don't really want to talk about it. People that I didn't tell have just asked me how I'm doing and i tell them I'm doing well.
  11. We went to the zoo today. Two years ago I took the picture on the left at my high weight of about 320 and then the one on the right is from today at 259. Making progress.
  12. High weight 320 SW 295 CW 259 surgery date was 3/4
  13. I had pretty bad back pain until about 5 weeks. Especially when I sat up for a while or drove.
  14. I 2nd the smooth moves tea. I can't remember who recommended it here originally but thank you. It works wonders.
  15. Have any of you had to give yourself a b12 injection yet? I'm sitting here staring down the needle. I think I'm gonna wait for my hubby to get home from work and make him do it.
  16. Congrats! You look great. I should have taken more before pictures like this.
  17. Congrats. They'll do an EKG, chest X-ray, UA, and chest X-ray at the hospital. They only thing that would stop you now is if they found a health issue that was previously unknown that would hinder your surgery. I would say if you feel well, not sick or congested ECT, and you're not pregnant you're probably good to go! There's always a chance they could find something, but I wouldn't stress to much about it.
  18. Do you have a vape shop near you? My friends run one. They offer all their flavors in different levels of nicotine so you can step down your nicotine levels gradually.
  19. It sounds like you're feeling exactly how I felt. When I actually schedule my surgery I thought "I'm not going to sleep for the next month" My neves calmed down as it go closer. I don't blame you for being a bit annoyed at the delay. My final appointment with my surgeon was on the 8th and the office didn't send my paper work until the 22nd. I was more than a little annoyed.
  20. I had my 6 weeks post op today and my surgeon seemed really happy with my progress this far! I'm officially down 46lbs by their scale! Back to work tomorrow.
  21. If I absolutely had to, I could have gone back at 2. But at two weeks I was still having some pain sitting up straight for long periods of time. I took 6 weeks, but I'm lucky my company has a generous disability plan.
  22. Mmmm this sounds like a good excuse to buy the ice cream maker to go with my kitchen aid mixer. She (my kitchen aid) hasn't gotten much play time since my surgery.
  23. Hey! I'm from Tennessee too. Upper East TN, almost in Virginia to be specific. And yes, the hills can be killer. I've not done stationary biking but I would assume it would help build your resistance. We have to drive an hour for the Creeper trail but it's so worth it. Take your bike to a shop and see if they can fix it up for you. Even if some of the parts are rusted they can probably rebuilt it for you. I felt like i was too big to ride too, but I'm so glad i did. I'm still a little self conscious but it's what I enjoy doing.
  24. I started biking about two years ago. I love it! Do you have a bike? If you don't buy yourself a good one. You don't have to spend a grand, but don't go buy one that cost $50 at Walmart. I bought a beach bike and hated it, it's rusting in my shed. I rode it like three times and then had to buy a new one. Mine was only about $200 but it's very sturdy. It's a Schwinn Comfort bike. I would highly suggest a comfort bikes. You can do on road or mild trail biking. What they say about riding a bike is true, you don't forget. Once you get out somewhere flat, just go and you'll pick it back up. After you get comfortable stopping, make sure your seat is up high enough that your just touch the ground with the tips of your toes. Do you you know if you have any "rail to trail" trails in your area? We have a beautiful one, The Virginia Creeper trail, that is amazing. It's all down hill so it's an easy ride. I will tell you when I have to ride up hill or do a harder ride, I sometimes feel like I'm dying but like anything else, you just have to build up your resistance. I've crashed a few times, but that's part of it. Good luck!
