  1. I am annoyed and frustrated right now. I have my sleep study on the 5th and then meet the surgeon on the 18th and then I have to wait clear till May to see the endocrinologist before I can get a surgery date. Bear in mind I have to travel 2 hours to get to all these appointments. Except for the sleep study. I am wanting to get the surgeon and endocrinologist visits done on same day as they are in same office but I got told that won't be possible unless there is a cancellation.

I hate this wait it is driving me nuts, and I really want to do these appointments in same day to save on gas as well. Anyone have any suggestions to what I can do? Or advise on anything?

    Thanks

  2. Was anyone required to see a Bariatric Endocrinologist before a surgery date could be set?

I am required to see one before I can get a surgery date and doesn't seem right, when I already see my own endocrinologist regularly.

I don't see many post of people having to do this, so I was just wondering.

  3. I was wondering if anyone had to see an endocrinologist before their surgery? I am having to see one of my surgeon's endo's there at their office before I can have the surgery. I am a type 2 diabetic also.

I don't understand why I have to see their endo doc; when I already have one that I see regularly. Is there a difference in one or the other?

Any advise or comment would be appreciated, ty

  4. So it looks like it will be in May that I will be having my sleeve surgery, as I have to see their endocrinologist and he is booked up until May. My appointment with him is May 8th, I have an appt with the surgeon on March 18th and could have had the surgery in March if the endo was so booked up. I am on the cancellation list for him. So I am hoping there will be a cancellation as I really wanted to get this surgery done before summer. My daughter is getting married this summer and would be nice to wear a nice dress that isn't a plus size.

Do you think there is still a chance I could wear a normal size dress before her wedding in Aug if I have my surgery in May?

    Thanks for listening :)

  5. So it looks like I will be sleeved at the end of March, I haven't actually got a date set yet as I have to complete a sleep study and they couldn't get me in for that until March 5th. Do you think it would be wrong of me to call the sleep study place and ask if they have a cancellation before march 5th if they could call me right away so I can get mine done? I just want to get it done, I have done all the other requirements of seeing the PT, NUT, and psych evaul. and NP, they all gave me the green light and said I was good to go.

  6. Hi everyone

I am going to be having my consult with the psychologist and the Nutrition & Diabetes lady tomorrow

morning. I am a bit nervous about the psych one. What kinds of questions does he/she ask you? I feel like he/she will be analyzing me and then say I am not a candidate for surgery. Please help me put my mind to ease.

    Thank You

  7. So far I have had my labs done and have attended the Welcome Group for Bariatric people who are going through the same thing. I have met with the PT and the NP both went very well. The NP prescribed me all my Vitamins I will need, she also said I would need to see their endocrinologist as some of my labs were abnormal. So that appointment will be made on Monday. On Tuesday I will be seeing the Nut and Psych. I also have to have a sleep study done, that will be done next week as well.

Then I finally will get to meet with the surgeon, so I am looking at possibly a March sleever. Does everyone have to have an endoscopy done?

    Thanks

  8. Thank you all so much for your kind words and above all your generous support. I have 2 people in my life who are very supportive and all of you. I will just concentrate on all the positive around me as I become closer to starting my journey. I wish I could go to bariatric weight loss support groups but unfortunately there is none in my area, I live 2 hours away from the hospital and surgeons office, so would make for a long drive. I will just get my support and information on here through all of you.

    Thank You Again

  9. Has anyone told their family about you having this surgery and your family not being supportive of your decission to do so? I am feeling that now with some of my family members, it hurts me deeply. what do you say to them?

I am having this surgery for only myself and no one else, I want to feel better and look better. My oldest daughter seems to be the only one who is with me on this as she had the same surgery a year ago.

Should I not worry about having their support?

    Thanks

  10. I have medicare. There is no insurance required waiting period if your BMI is over 40, mine was 48.something . There is no question the sleeve is covered if you meet the criteria for comorbities or BMI.

I have a BMI of 40 and Diabetes type 2 and many other comorbities, so I am hoping it won't be long.
