I have BCBSNC I have met my $2000 out of pocket maximum and now the bills are starting to come in. Will I have to pay all of these bills before they will do my surgery or how does that work?

I have a $2000 out of pocket maximum for the year that has been met. I have a $498.00 anesthesia bill and a $1500 hospital bill both from a pre-op EDG I had done. Will these 2 bills have to be paid in full before they will do my actual surgery.

I have my 4th supervised diet visit on the 28th of May and I've lossed and gained but haven't gone above my starting weight. I've learned so much during this time about protein, portions, eating slow, chewing, sipping etc. I feel like this time has gone really fast maybe because between work, my 4 year old, and preparing it doesn't seem like a long time.

Oh ok you'll get there glad the gallbladder surgery went well. I was kind of down because yesterday because I haven't lost one pound yet I haven't gained anything either but I've really been trying from portion control to Protein to Water and I haven't lost anything. And then I came to the realization that that's the whole reason I'm doing this because I can't do it on my own I need help.

That's awesome keep up the good work I have my 3rd of 6 tomorrow. So excited to be half way through this journey. My remaining 3 visits is the only requirements I have left.

That's awesome for everybody. I'm almost half way through my process. I have my 3rd of 6 supervised diet appointments next week. Then I only have my May, June, and July visits left and then it can be submitted. I've lost and gained during these 3 months but have tried my best and learned so much thus far about protein first, staying hydrated, vitamins, portion size etc. I'm really excited for a second chance and am really looking forward to it.

I'm really excited all of my requirements are complete except my 4 more months of supervised diet visits and attendance to a support group meeting which I will complete in April.

I'm very ANNOYED. My initial consultation was on 01/28/14 and my surgeon's office still has not discussed financials.... what I'm paying...... what my insurance is paying..... When what needs to be paid..... NOTHING..... I called this morning and left a message

Yes my coordinator ended up giving me what I'll have to pay and I pay it at my pre-op appointment but I'm hoping by the end of my 6 month supervised diet I will have met my oop max in which I'm about $231.00 away from meeting.

Well being that I am the one that posted it my issue was that 2 months into the process financials still had not been discussed by my surgeon's office advising me what or when I needed to pay not the fact that I had to pay. My insurance company can't tell me what the surgeon or hospital fee is or when they require it only what my policy covers, my deductible, oop max etc.

I began my journey on 01/28. I have my sleep study today (Friday), and my 2nd of 6 supervised diet appointments next week. I have BCBSNC.

I've already spoken with my insurance company that is not the issue as my surgeon's office are they not supposed to discuss financials with me. According to my insurance company my deductible has already been met and I'm only $300 away from my out of pocket maximum but as to who that deductible and out of pocket maximum is paid to and when they directed me to my surgeon's office.

Well first off CONNNGGRRAATTSS!!!! 2NDLY that is ridiculous to just throw that on someone a few days before their surgery but I'm glad you were able to work it out. That's what I don't want to happen I would like to know in advance so I can prepare financially also. I have appointments M-W of next week and I'm going to ask every day I'm there until I get some answers.

I had my EDG done on Friday and the only concern the Dr had was some redness on my stomach believed to be from IB PROUFEN/ MOTRIN use

I have BCBSNC. I called them before starting this process and was told I only had to have 6 mth of documented weight loss attempt. But it did not have to be submitted to insurance only my dr had to approve it. And this is what my policy states. My pre-op coordinator said the surgeon accepted my WW log because it was about 9 months straight within 2 yrs. So after going through all tests, etc. my file was turned over to the insurance coordinator for filing. She emails me the next day and says she cant submit without my 6 mths supervised visit & if I dont have it, I need to get started. I explained my policy doesnt require it only requires that my dr approved whatever I did and pre-op said dr approved it. She said she has been doing this a while and even if dr "approves" it doesn't mean insurance will, but she will submit "as is" if I request. I can't do 6 months supervised now because my policy renews June 1 & my deductible etc will apply all over again. We met our out of pocket is the only reason I can have to now. So it was submitted Friday. We will see. I hope she doesn't mess it up. Is bcbs asking for you to have 6 mths documented? JWow1 I just had my consultation with the surgeon's office on the 28th I had about 8 months of attempts but was told per my insurance a 6 month supervised diet is apart of my requirements. My first of 6 appointments will be on the 25th of February. One thing my coordinator told me is that it has to be a consecutive 6 months if you miss a month you have to start over. To come this far and have met your oop max I really hope they will accept your attempts.

I'm required to give 2 years weight History from a doctor one from 2012 and one from 2013 I don't have anything from 2012 as I was new to the state and not going to the Dr for anything what do I do?

Sassy I do not have a date yet I'm actually just getting started. My consultation was on 01/28 lab work is done, weight History is done, my psych eval is 02/10 and 1st of 6 supervised diet appointments is 02/25 so 6 months out everything should be done by July so I'm hoping for an August/September date.

Great news I actually went to my ob one final time 03/02/2012 I moved 03/21/2012 so I do have a weight recording for 2012 and 2013. 2 year weight History requirement....... COMPLETE

Okay I will request prior years also, thanks for the responses. My first consultation was yesterday so I'm just beginning the process and am trying my best not to miss any steps.
