    DONE

Well surgery is done and I am home now. Just on 48 hours since I was in recovery... Such a weird feeling. The nausea and 'spun out' feeling I am getting is my only real issue. Just want to feel normal. But of course I won't. Having a hard time drinking water/juice, but I love sucking ice cubes. The other crazy thing I am going through is smelling yummy foods and just getting so down about it emotionally - I am not hungry and would never ever want/need foods, obviously at this early stage, but I am struggling to know I CANNOT eat. Weird.... Any advice? Thanks

    DONE

Thanks! I can't wait for the day that I can start to sip protein shakes and get in some more fluid! It feels like such a chore to sip on water/juice - I just wish I had an IV in haha....thanks again.

    Today is the day!

Thanks for sharing, I go into hospital in under 24 hours so I am REALLY SCARED! ha....
  4. Headaches are generally just from the detox - just drink lots of water! Once you have flushed it all out (around day 4) you start to feel much better and the headaches stop. Good luck!

    Pre-Op Diet

I do chicken on the BBQ then cauliflower and broccoli in the pan with some herbs - sooooo good
  7. Good luck! I am getting mine on Thursday (australia too) and have kids, so I am just going in to do what needs to be done, then out when I am allowed! I have to just get over the emotions of it, ha, but I hope you have a smooth run (and me too!)

    Feelings of should I?

I think every single person has these feelings before surgery - totally normal!!!! I am doing the sleeve after having had a lapband 10 years ago and even I am scared!! It's just our emotions and nerves. Good luck, you will be great!!!!

What my band should have done.

How are you going so far?!
  10. So weird to say this but I am actually enjoying the pre op diet. I feel great! It's a cleansing sort of experience. I had horrible detox headaches and fatigue for 3 days but now I am going so well. It has been 6 days and I am down 8.8 pounds!! Stoked I am even eating a meal at dinner and having random protein snacks - even though I am not probably not supposed to (The Dr's booklet pushes veggies for dinner, but I add 100g of protein). However, I am feeling great, losing weight and just enjoying this phase where I am literally cleansing my body of all the crap I have been eating lately. I had a lapband at one stage but it's been out for 4 years. I could not keep the weight off, despite doing gym training and eating very well, and then I fell pregnant and my weight has just spiralled since having the baby. Anyway, long story short, I ENJOY eating well and exercising, so I hope the sleeve can really push my body back into the weight loss phase and I really hope to be fit and healthy again soon.
  11. Thanks to the supportive people! I am starting to get a bit impatient now -- just wanting my op to happen! It's 6 days away, so I am really eager for it just to happen. The cleansing part of this is what is making me feel good - I went downhill a bit with eating as I was overseas in May. Thanks again!
  12. Uhh, woah, OK....am I being sensitive or am I detecting some bitchiness? First of all, can I say that I AM doing a pre-op diet. I am following the plan, drinking 2 shakes and eating one balanced meal at night time (generally chicken and veggies) and IF I have a snack when I feel lethargic/very hungry, I opt for a Protein snack that is of the same brand as my shakes. So thank you for telling me it is not a pre-op diet. Again, as I had a lapband in 2007, I HAVE done this exact diet before. Secondly, I have lost 8.8 pounds. I was told I only had to lose 4. Absolutely no point being negative nancies to me when I am feeling positive, being successful in my weight loss, and actually feeling GOOD. Why the need to try and cut somebody down? Hello and smiles to all of the lovely, nice, fun and inviting people on the forum.... :-)

What my band should have done.

Good to hear! I get my surgery in a week!!! CANNOT WAIT and I hope it goes smoothly. I hated my band, and have had nothing in for 4 years, but I think the band screwed up my metabolism. Glad that you're enjoying the experience so far.

    Liquid diet

I am at the end of day 3 and work full time and have little kids - it's been tough, but I have lost 4.4 pounds. Today the kids were driving me up the wall lol so I had a banana and egg....I do not feel guilty at all though. I am doing shakes and having protein for dinner and still cleansing, detoxing and losing weight. Don't even think I am meant to be eating protein but seriously, I cannot do 3 shakes a day and that's it. I just can't....

    Gastric Sleeve in July

I am July 7 - started pre op diet today! SO nervous, but I have had the band. However, that was a long time ago and I had it out 4 years ago.

    Band to sleeve surgery

I hope I have this success!!! I am SO nervous Sleeve is on July 7
  20. I haven't had a lapband in four years, and for some horrible reason I have regained the weight (not all) despite eating well and exercising vigorously. Therefore, I want to get the sleeve. However, my surgeon has said that it's a 50/50 gamble - 50% don't have ANY weight loss and 50% do. This really shocked me!!!! I do not want a bypass, but he said that's 100% going to work. So scared!??
  21. I agree! Surely I can lose something!!?
  22. Thanks for the update - that sounds awesome! I hope I am as successful....he is a fantastic surgeon and has had very very little problems ( I think one leak?) but I just think he's concerned that I won't achieve the results I want and he's worried I will view it as his problem.
