1. I'd really like to thank everyone for replying. I needed to hear about other people's experiences. Mike, I'm sure glad the sleeve is doing the trick for you. I've often thought I should go that route, but I decided I haven't done everything I can with the sleeve. Recently, I had a very small fill...this has resulted in some challenges in eating, but I am persevering so far. I have to be really careful in chewing well...so I think this is good for me. So far I've lost a few pounds since the fill, so we'll see what happens.

  2. Hi, all. I was banded in February/14. I lost 50 pounds lickety-split (6 months) and then slowly started to struggle. I now am up twenty pounds and still struggling. I have had some band issues (over fill, de-fill, not enough fills, etc) and I really struggle with emotional eating still (stress, discouragement mainly). My naturopathic doctor thinks I'm not getting enough Protein and fat to lose weight. Hmm.

I certainly know what I'm doing wrong in terms of eating too much...I just wonder if I could actually be eating too little of the right things...and truly, I just need some support from some folks who may have been challenged in similar ways and have won the battle.

    Thanks!

  3. No. I have lost 50 pounds this past year thanks to my lap band. I had been on every diet known to mankind and I'd lose 10 or 15 pounds, then gain back. Over and over....for about 20 years. I became severely obese around age 40 and suffered for 10 years. Thank God I had the surgery. Even though I still have 50 pounds to go, and no, this is not always easy (I'm an emotional eater...of course its not easy), it is hands down the best money I've spent on losing weight. I feel satisfied with small portions and I have had very few problems with getting stuck or sliming. I am doing things I haven't done for years. I am more confident. It's great. Go for it. Change your life...you deserve it. Good luck!!

  4. Hi, Andy and February Team

I have lost 50 pounds...but I lost it from late January to June...have been stuck on same three or four pounds (up and down) since. I'm starting to feel really discouraged. I'm only at 3.7 cc in my band. I know I am not eating as well as I should be, but I still feel like this should be moving even a little bit every week. Anybody have any advice??

  5. Hi, fellow Sask. handers! I've been off the forums for a long time...summer kind of got in my way....I got "cocky" and have been struggling to get back on track. I exercised a LOT this summer but ate too much, so I've been at a plateau since June 28. Recently, I've been having ab pain and discomfort, so the nurses suggested a de-fill. I've been doing liquids and soft foods for about a week which has helped keep the weight off! I am due to go back for a fill this week and see if I can get going again. How are you two doing?

  6. Hi AsH, things are going ok. Been on a plateau the last month which is a drag but my family doc says it's just my metabolism "resetting itself". I lost this past week so I hope it's moving on down now. I did get a very small fill a couple weeks ago. I saw a lady in Saskatoon....I will find her name for you if you want.

I am supposed to eat about 1 cup volume each meal and small Snacks. I stick to about 1200 calories or less per day.

    How are you doing?

  7. Jennabean, I was SO anxious as well! Heck, I even gave my husband my funeral directions in the event I expired! But I knew I wanted the surgery to get healthier or I wouldn't live long enough to see some grandchildren!

I asked lots of questions and the doctors were very helpful. I prayed and did relaxation exercises while I waited to go into surgery. Honestly, it was the easiest anesthetic I've ever had. After the surgery, if you get anxious, ask for an Ativan. Works like a charm. I am down 37.5 pounds since my pre op diet! Worth every minute and every dollar!! Good luck!

  8. I am doing ok. Kind of at a lul right now. Go for another fill in 2 weeks. I started off 165. Lost 12 lbs pre op and now am about then when back up a bit I'm at 147. I got my band in Toronto where did you get yours? And are you from saskatoon as well? The only down size about having it in Toronto is there is no support groups around here at least I can't find one. I really love my band I just need to find my green zone. It will come though. :)

Talk soon
Ashley

    Hi Ash26

I got my band in Mississauga at the SWLC with Chris Cobourn. I'm feeling the same thing....I wish there was a support group here. Maybe we'll have to start one!

Who does your fills? When I asked, they said, oh,we will let you know that when it is time for a fill... Felt like the secret service or something!!! Otherwise I have no complaints!! Right now I am still losing,so I won't be taking to them about a fill quite yet.

How many fills have you had? Any trouble with any foods yet?

  9. I've lost 25 pounds since I started the pre op diet, about 12 since being banded, so I'm pretty happy with that. I am having no trouble eating fish, moist chicken, and cooked vegetables. Haven't been brave enough to try any Pasta or toast at all!

I have only told my immediate family(husband, kids, sister) about being banded. I will consider telling more people once I have lost more weight. I just don't want the opinions at this stage of the game!!

    How are you doing?

  10. Hi all. I'm now 5 weeks out and feeling great, band wise. I was getting ready to discuss a fill with my team, then on Saturday I injured my hamstring. I'm on crutches for now as I can't put any weight on that leg. So I decided now is not a good time to be experimenting with a fill! I'm doing chair aerobics videos to get in some cardio-found them on youtube!! Other than my recent stupid injury, I'm enjoying banded life! Hot into a pair of jeans one size smaller this weekend!!
