Ok Alicia, I hope this helps you. Don't starve or dehydrate yourself. As long as you are eating the right foods then your body will do the rest. Hopefully your doctor gave you some sort of plan for what is healthy and high in Protein to eat and what to stay away from. Dont make yourself sick with worry. I am almost 6 months post and eat just about anything. Its a new thing so you will have to experiment to see what your body can tolerate. I know you are still a newbie but EAT. Just stick to foods high in protein, low in fat and sugar. No fried foods!! Veggies are great if u tolerate them but make sure ur Proteins come first. Minimum of 60g and 64oz of Water. I drink a bottle first thing in the morning, between meals and one before bed. I have been doing 80-100g per day since about day 6 and i worked up to now drinking 6 or more bottles a day of water. I am now down 104lbs and im doing great so dont be afraid to eat. Just monitor it so its healthy. Your body will let u know when yohve eaten enough, trust me. Good luck to you and I hope you get through this ok.

I can't believe it but I made TWO major milestones this morning!
I've lost 100 pounds in 4.75 months (add 2 weeks of pre-op diet to be fair) AND I'n in Onederland!
This has been the most amazing journey for me. I couldn't be any happier AND it's not even over yet!
My only regret was waiting so long and doubting myself.

This evening I finally ate a Popsicle and it stayed down. Feeling better with the gas pains doing more moving. I am only doing sips of Water and then the Popsicle. Take it slow. I am surprised they gave u juice since it has acid in it. I hope u get to go home soon! Good luck! Keep posting!

I'm 70 & just got my surgery date of 5/12/14. I'm glad to read posts by other 70+ sleeve patients. My family is concerned about my age & having this surgery. Hopefully this will make them feel better that others my age have done this. My goal is to get off the CPAP at night & the oxygen 24/7. I have other health issues that should go away also. Just the idea of taking fewer pills each day is a plus.

So every little thing is getting on my nerves I'm doing three shakes a day and I'm allowed some veggies and 100g of Protein and I've been very good but it's a nightmare I wish surgery day would hurry up and come so I'm not hungry all the time... Rant over thank u for listening and understanding...Pre opp diet can go suck it lol still got until the 1st of May that's 11 days!!!!!!!!! I'm a hot mess guys...

So I've had a rough time with this low cal diet for Preop. I get two Protein Shakes a day, two servings of fruit, I can have milk and juice (limited to 2 cups max a day), unlimited Water too, then a lean meat and vegetable for a meal. I just got my presurgery diet handbook and found that I can eat more than I thought. The past two days I've been starving myself all day with just two Protein shakes and a very light meal in the evenings! So I have packed a bit more food for the day today! I think I got hypoglycemic yesterday! Had the worst headache and felt like I was going to pass out! Today is a new day and I'm going to try and eat more! it's only 12 days away! Now it seems my work is going to give me grief about taking a week off. I feel like it's my only chance to do this so I'm going for it!

angell_ina reacted to ziggypbang in Orange is NOT my new black! How my fashions have changed!
First, apologies for the double post.
I watched my close friend over the past 14 months, following her fantastically successful vsg, transform her wardrobe along with her body. But I couldn't understand why all her new clothes featured Belts, of all things! Wide, sparkly, contrasting colored belts! Whaahh? Now I get it!
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, I wear now must be the opposite of what I wore before. Everything that suited my old body (boxy, shapeless, black or dark colored with maybe a few jewel-toned accents) I now think of as ‘orange,' because they were like my prison garb. And now I'm free, baby, and there is no more 'orange' for me! I love fitted clothes, almost to the point of being tight! I am wearing almost an entirely ivory, sand or pale grey wardrobe because they were colors I never felt comfortable wearing before! And I've gone belt crazy, along with shoe, handbag and jewelry crazy.
Does anyone else out there think 'no way!' when they are shopping and see fashions that they would have worn in their pre-wls life?

Use small plates, to this day I still do. Measure out your food and use small utensils, this really works. Take your small bite and put down your fork or spoon. Feel your sensation when swallowing and food travelling down to your tummy, be in the moment. This will also help you to know when you are satisfied as it happens with just one bite so you need to be eating slowly to realize it.

Hiii everyone, i just wanted to take the time to do an update i just realized that i am 6 months post op today i was sleeved on September 10th 2013 and what can i say other than i am so thankful at the opportunity life has given me its like being reborn again. Back in July 2013 my health took a toll for the worst, that is when my doctor recommended i get Bariatric Surgery because loosing weight would be the only way 2 control my PCOS symptoms i finally decided to do something about it and went ahead and started my WL journey i was then 250 lbs my highest weight ever being 5'1 it wasn't good at all for me along with my PCOS i started having back problems, knee problems, achillis tendons problems, ankles were always swollen, my BP had started to get out of control, along with a few other things. Today at 6 months i couldn't be happier with the way i feel, today i no longer use any medications, i am still in shock when i see myself in the mirror in my head i still think of myself sometimes as being heavy even though i know i am not and peoples reaction when they see me is priceless =) words will never describe how Amazing this journey has been and how i feel i thank God first and for most and my awesome doctor Scott Shikora and Team for giving me this second chance in life my highest weight was 250, today at 6 months post op i am 147 lbs and still counting even my doctor was amazed when i saw him last month he said and i quote (remember we spoke that people who are sleeved loose about 50-60% of their excess weight well you have lost already 75% of your excess weight) he was sooo happy my goal is 135 i am very close i went from size 22 or 2x 3x to my now size 6 and that size is now fitting loose so am i Happy? Heck yeaaah i am Extreeeeemely Happyyyyy! 88 lbs since September 10th (day of surgery i was 235lbs) total weight loss 103 lbs from when i was 250 lbs till now i'll take it! =)))
