    Hiw does it feel.

I don't feel my new stomach. I can't really tell I'm full by my stomach. If I eat too much, it's like the food gets stuck around the chest area and won't go down right away. That's how I know to stop eating. Fortunately, I haven't puked any of it out, it usually stays down and eventually goes where it's supposed to go. It's the same with hunger, I can feel hunger, but it's not the same kind of hunger I used to have. This one is tolerable, I don't have to eat right away when I start feeling it. The hardest thing for me is not drinking during meals. Sometimes I just have to take a sip of milk or water and if I overdo it, I feel it and it's not fun.
  2. I guess it depends what kind of pills. I have been taking my blood pressure pills since day 2 after surgery. They say to wait for a month to start birth control pills. I have been taking an acid reducer also since surgery (pill form). Check with your doctor to make sure it's safe, but I don't think the pill can do damage to the sleeve or they would have warned me about this.
  3. I had trouble with water too, which was really upsetting because I was used to drinking 2 L a day before surgery. Post op, it actually hurt to drink it. It was easier to drink milk or juice. Take it one day at a time, start with small sips, room temperature, always carry a bottle with you so you remember to keep drinking. It started getting easier after 2 weeks. I can now drink a little more than 1 L a day and can actually take big sips, only 2 at a time though, but it's still better. Hang in there, it gets easier.
  4. The nurses told me to keep checking to see if my tongue got white. I had a really awful taste in my mouth, but no white. So I went to see my doctor and he did prescribe a mouth wash for me. It is very common to develop an infection after this surgery, not sure why. I think it's almost the same as thrush, what babies get. Ten days of treatment, then just make sure to brush your teeth 4 times a day and use a regular mouth wash each time. It went away. My nausea also went away when I started the treatment, maybe it was related. Hope this helps.

    Ground beef

I'm 3 weeks post op and eating ground beef. No problems at all, only eating 1.5 oz, but it's staying down. Our diet plan in Quebec is very different. I was on puree day 3 post op, only 2 days of liquid diet, and have been eating ground meat for 1 week now. I mix it with mashed potatoes or a bit of tomato sauce. Be careful with tomato sauce though because too much can give you heartburn, I learned that the hard way. Hope this helps.

    This is so difficult!

This site is meant to support each other, not pass judgement. If you don't have anything helpful to say, don't bother leaving comments. We are allowed to feel what we feel and ask for help without being judged for it.
  7. I have the same problem. I will start again tomorrow, I guess trying to eat healthy until the surgery will be my resolution, but I really understand what you are going through. I lost 20 pounds doing Weight Watchers before they called me to give me an appointment and since then have gained most of it back. food is my way of dealing with stress I guess.
  8. Ha,ha,just figured out how to reply to one post only. Slowly starting to understand this site. Which shake are you starting? Since I haven't met any doctors yet, they haven't recommended anything to me. I ordered Chocolite Protein, which is what I will be starting tomorrow, but I doubt it is the same quality as doctors recommend. I'm going to try to do the protein shakes starting next week too. Let's compare notes!
  9. Hi everyone, it's very interesting to read everyone's experience. Mine seems to be a little different, probably because I am in Canada. I think the longest anyone has been on the diet first is one month, most people do a liquid diet for 2 weeks first, I think. The sleep apnea thing is really bothering me, I hope I don't have it. I haven't been sleeping well for years, but I never thought that could be what I had. Sasha287, I definitely understand what you are going through. I'm having a hard time dieting too, I will try it again this week though. I bought some protein shakes and will try to start replacing at least one meal a day with it to get used to it. I'll let you know how it goes.
  10. Thank you for replying so fast. I will keep both of you posted. Like I said, I will know more after my appointments on the 8th and 9th of January. I also have to bring home a machine to see if I have sleep apnea. I'm hoping I don't because they will make me buy this device that costs 2000$ here. Did you have to pass that test? I guess I am pretty lucky to get that 3 months off, it's not every hospital in Quebec that does that, most are 6 weeks off though. Two weeks in not a lot. I am really nervous about meeting all those specialists within 2 days. I hope everything goes well. It's great that I get to talk about this with you. I need to figure out how this site works so that I can message you privately also. Gonna try to figure it out this week. Talk to you soon.
  11. Hi, hope it's ok for me to butt into your conversation. I am also new to this site and I would love to be able to share with others. I am meeting with the bariatric team (surgeon, nutritionist, etc,) on January 8 and 9 and should be getting my surgery within 3 months after that. I'm from Quebec, so it's a bit different here. My insurance will cover it and I have to be off work for 3 months, which I think is entirely too long. I am a teacher and mother of a 5 year old girl.I have read every book and watched every youtube video on the sleeve and I am terrified, but I feel like I have to do it. I also have over 100 lbs to lose and I don't feel like I can do it by myself anymore. I would love to keep sharing with you as we continue our journey to becoming healthy.
